Dr Ogilvie was issued a citation by the CA Vet Board #2058-c,NV2007 193 on 1-14-08 for violations of CA law (negligence, failed record keeping). Ogilvie treated a cat with cancer with chemotherapy and prescribed medications. Veterinarians at CVS performed diagnostic tests on this Cat and prescribed Meloxican. Ogilvie advised the owner that the Meloxican dosage was too high and he changed instructions. This Cat developed serious problems and was treated by CVS Vets following Ogilvie's advice to the owner. This Cat died on the 5th day after his advice. Vet Board Findings: NEGLIGENCE 1)Ogilvie or his staff provided Meloxicam with excessive dosage instruction to owner, resulting in an over dosage which caused or contributed to this Cat's death 2)Ogilvie failed to disclose or document disclosure of the off-label use of Meloxicam in cats at the time of use for this Cat. RECORD KEEPING violation: Multiple record keeping errors for all prescriptions and treatments;failure to maintain x-rays.
