Click to report rating    8/5/23   1     5     5     1   what a nightmare experience this place was. We took our dog here for a second opinion as he kept passing out and on the way in he had an episode. Dr Wood said no point in an ultrasound he had chf and that he may have a year to live. He said he may just have an attack and not wake up.he suggested if we wanted to know more we could do a 24 hr monitor and said it was $600. we called on fri am and gave $100 deposit for them to book it the following monday. I wanted to confirm the price and the girl said it was $680... so I asked her to pls make sure and get back to us. At the end of the day, they called to say it was $1200 ...double what we'd been told. The lady on the phone said "your dog is really sick and he has the worst heart murmur.... " (he has a stage 5 heart murmur at this point. I advised her that they went up to a stage 6. "A stage 6 is dead!" she said. Long story short, we ended up booking through a cardiologist vet for the same price with ekg, ultra sound of heart (dr woo RID: 70793
Click to report rating    2/2/21   1     1     1     1   Sheltered my cat there fora week, was told to bring food, when i got back to pick her up she was skinny starving and her food was unopened!. All they care about is money and the customer service is horrible none of them have any regard for your time coming to their clinic, was told multiple times things were ready only to get there and be told to come back! unexceptionable service and bad attitudes all around, to many vets not paying attention to animal records and double charging and over selling services, they shouldn't be in business it is that bad there! Never again will i go there let alone recommend them to anyone!.Pathetic service!. RID: 69780

Click to report rating    6/29/19   1     1     2     1   French bulldog puppy- I wouldn't recommend this facility at all. I took in out puppy that had colitis which is blood in his stool. The vet that assessed him gave medication for 2 weeks we flowed this vets instructions only for the culitus to return after the course of the medication. I took our puppy to a different clinic as I didn't feel comfortable taking him back there again. I was completely shocked when I was told the medication given to our puppy was supposed to be 3cc twice a day instead of 1 cc twice a day. He also informed us that the puppy needed 2 other medications that are also needed to treat cultis. Not only did they prescribe the dose wrong they also prescribed it for 7 days longer than needed as the medication expires after 7 days. The staff at the front are completely disorganized they almost sold me cat food while I clearly have a dog that needed gastrointestinal food. They also forgot to give me the medication that I had to remind them of. Click to report rating    2/23/18   1     3     2     1   Experience is as follows:1- Friday morning my 5 year old dog was neutered 2- Sunday night he got his cone off and licked his wound 3- put the coan back on and cleaned the area 4- sent the clinic a photo of the wound and the came in for a "free" post op check-up 90$ charge 5- vet put two staples into the infected wound, one did not catch the other side of the wound and it was left open the staple hung there while the other staple was painfully on his wound oozing brown puss 6- the infection spread 7- called the clinic again and they wanted to put more staples in!No way will they touch my dog again!! 8- took him to another clinic where the vet removed a piece of gauze from the wound full of puss 9- new vet was appalled they used staples and shocked the gauze was in the wound! Noted the staples furthered the infection & were a cruel choice 10- 300$ my dog has to undergo more surgery to clean the infection from his neuter RID: 65638
Click to report rating    10/24/17   1     1     1     1   I wanted to get help for my cat, Harry, but since I live on a disability pension I could not pay them for a few days, so they would not see my cat, even though I told them what my cats symptoms were, which if not treated could be fatal, so instead they tell me to book an appointment when I would be paid, which I did but sadly this time that I had to wait could have been used to save my cats life. But this clinic had NO problem waiting for me to pay them to have Harry cremated as they had his lifeless body as collateral, and they had the nerve to ask me if I kept Harry comfortable as he died at home untreated; and this clinic wanted to know if I wanted a clay paw print, for a whopping $90, heck I could have made one for less than $5, this clinic only caters to the clients that can afford to buy their pampered pest gold-plated feeding dishes and diamond studded collars, the worst form of animal cruelty is taking your pet to this clinic RID: 64913

3/3/17   5     5     5     5   The Vets at the Langley animal clinic are incredible! They really care about animals and they take their time to explain things. Also, they are so amazingly priced, I don’t ever hesitate to take my dog to see the vet. Ive seen several vets there and they have all been good but I have been taking my dog to see Dr. Wood now and he is by far the best. He is so knowledgeable and trustworthy. I value and trust his opinion about my dog (and she is my baby) :) He never tries to sell anything and he always carefully examines my dog and explains every option. If you want people who you can trust to care for your pet, be knowledgeable and inexpensive you should take your pet to the Langley animal clinic! RID: 62896
Click to report rating    2/28/17   4     5     3     5   I find this clinic to be extremely busy, which makes it difficult for the staff to be more personable with the customers and pets. So far all the Vets we have seen are very good with explaining in detail what the pets condition is, options for diagnosis and treatment in a manner that does not seem pushy. In our first visit we notified them that our cat would not cooperate for a blood draw without me holding him. They did not believe me and said their tech are highly qualified and could handle it. They tried for 25 minutes before asking me to come back the next day to try again, but with me holding him. I'm happy that they have since marked in his file that I must be present for all treatments and tests. I am very pleased with the quality of care. RID: 62869

What I got was them making my friend pay 40 CENTS interact for their screw up!!! (Difference in cost of med for her hampster) The most unprofessional place ever!!! Save your money and go somewhere else... Someone who cares & is on the ball!!! Never recommending that place or going back! RID: 59670

1/21/15   1     4     3     1   Been a client 14 years, but will never go back.Been treating my 14 year old cat for severe skin condition on her back.I have done blood tests, special diet, medications, etc her skin is raw, pulling out her fur, constant bacterial infections. No treatment has worked.Every 3 weeks she has to go for antibiotic and cortisone shots. Finally put her on $70 a month pills, that didn't work so over a year of this and over $1000 spent with no results I made a difficult decision to euthanize her because she was suffering and had no quality of life, medications were making her ill.I called to make an appt and was told vet will not euthanize over a skin condition I should bring her in and up the med dosage which will then costover $100 a month.I told them I can't afford anymore it's not working and she is suffering. They told me to drop her at a cat shelter to get the care she needs.I have never been so offended to insinuate I am not caring for my cat.I am totally disgusted with the suggestion and attitude.  10/1/14   3     2     2     3   Whatever you do avoid Dr. Hannah Weitzenfeld aka the gouger! She does not care about your pets well being she is only concerned with taking your money and as much as possible! Our dog is diabetic and whenever we see her for any given reason she finds a way to sneak in some unreasonable service or high priced medication. She took one look at our dog when we were there for a eye infection and decided he should have some bumps on his legs also addressed. She had her lacky give us a quote of the cheaper option of $1500 or the more invasive procedure for $3000, neither of which were necessary. He is 14 years old and if he dies from a little bump on his leg suspected of being cancer then so be it, he's had a great life and we are keeping him happy and managing his diabetes. On our last visit she tried saying that his cataracts have gotten worse and he's down by 2kg and looking very skinny, when the other vets say he could spare to lose a few lbs. Dr. Wheaton and Dr. McDonald are great though RID: 53843

1/7/14   2     4     2     1   This is the second time we have taken our cat there. The first time it was 400$ and there was no change or healing in my cat. The second time, (different vet - different reason) she questioned us and the x-rays saying we needed to have them done. How come the vet isn't checking our pets file, reviewing her case, ensuring prior treatments and medication. The receptionists need some professional development on customer service and how to greet new people coming in for their services. I am not sure how much this treatment is going to cost and quite frankly I don't really care. Our cat is part of our family. But when your pet goes in for a urine sample but can't produce any because she has an infection, why in gods name would you charge people for an overnight stay when they are still requiring treatment and testing the following day. Sorry for the rant. Thanks. RID: 49126

1/2/14   1     3     1     1   I've been using this clinic for 7 years. I won't be going back. My dog was diagnosed with Diabetes 2 months ago. He had weekly appointments for Glucose blood analysis to determine his insulin dosage. Last time in he had a fructosamine blood test. On the bill was the dreaded re-examination charge. I asked the Vet what he was being re-examined for. She insisted it was a legitimate charge. That did it for me. Not about the money, just the principle. His appointment was for a blood test & not an examination. Of the 6 appointments not one was on time, up to 30 minutes past the scheduled time. 8 days after his final blood test no call from the clinic on the test results. I had to call them to get the test results. Overall a disappointing experience with this clinic. RID: 49038

12/12/13   1     1     1     1   I have been here on three different occasions and would rather pay an emerg fee than go Back! First time I had to have my chinchilla put down the vet was trying to find a vein in her leg (chinchillas need an injection to the heart) he finally pulled out a text book for reference I couldn't believe it! The second time I had to take my Dobbie in for stitches. They insisted it was an old wound and he would have to have to ended cut away. They then said he had to spend the night incase of problems coming out of the anesthesia but they were closing and going home in 15 minutes I had to fight with them to get my dog out. The final straw was when I took my other Dobbie in. he was lethargic and had a temp they told me his red blood cell count was only 21 and that he had a blood disorder and would be dead within 24hrs. Turns out he had been stung by a bee & they hadn't had their machine serviced. My dog came out of there with all kinds of aggression issues and a $4000 vet bill RID: 48733

5/1/13   2     2     1     2   This clinic was good years ago, but has gone downhill. We won't be going back. Every time we brought in our dog, we had a different vet. Some of them weren't familiar with small dogs at all, and certainly weren't familiar with our dog's history. We booked our dog in for a microchip and tattoo and when we picked her up, they had forgotten to tattoo her. Really? There was no way I was going to have her put under anesthesia again just for that. There is no clean-up station (which even PetSmart has). Every time we had an appointment, we waited up to an hour. I called once to book a vaccination and was told that this particular vet did not do vaccinations on weekends! The last time was the last straw: a seemingly inexperienced vet took one look at her and said she absolutely had to have her teeth cleaned. He made it sound like life and death. Her teeth are not that bad. Our new vet in White Rock said there was no need to have her teeth cleaned for at least another year. RID: 42201

12/16/12   2     3     1     1   Recently used Langley Animal Clinic when our usual vet was unavailable. Our dog had an impacted anal gland and was given antibiotics, anti-inflammatory meds and a follow-up in one week's time; total cost was about $104. I asked whether a charge would be involved for the follow-up and the staff said, "only if further treatment is required." Fast forward a week and after waiting nearly 30 minutes at our pre-scheduled appointment, the vet spent only a few minutes in the exam room, said everything looked great and performed a quick expel of his gland as a precautionary measure (a courtesy at most groomers and vets). Came out, said thanks to the staff and was about to leave when I was asked to wait while they consulted the vet. Staff returned and said I owed a re-exam fee of $31. When I mentioned I was reassured there'd be no charge unless further treatment required, I was told it was at the vet's discretion. Needless to say, I will not be returning to this clinic for future servic RID: 39094

4/4/12   4     5     3     4   Started taking my dog here in the fall of 2011 after my vet retired. Dr. Wood diagnosed him with diabetes very quickly and we started insulin. My 12 year old Min Pin is like a puppy again and has never been better! Dr. Wood is professional, thourough and always educates me on anything regarding my dog's health. He might not always be friendly or chatty, but he's a fantastic Vet and that's all that matters when it comes to the health of my pets! -- Another bonus is that the clinic has a lab on site. No waiting for days when you need results! RID: 33342

2/26/12   2     5     1     1   Have had nothing but problems with ths clinic. Always wait 30-45 minutes past my appt time, don't get the vet you book with, multiple visits in the same week with different diagnoses and 2 vet bills. Fees change without explanation and vet's and recpetionist don't even know what fees are for services. Very unhappy with the lack of customer service and knowledge at this clinic. Absolutely no follow up or long term treatment plans offered for existing conditions. Don't go here, save your money and go somewhere cheaper with way better service and knowledge. RID: 32490

12/24/11   1     3     1     1   Avoid whenever possible!!!! I have a diabetic cat. Her levels were great, but the clinic requires regular blood work to ensure this. I've been told that once every 6 months is reasonable to check this. This clinic insists on doing the blood work monthly - even when the tests come back telling me that no change is required in her insulin levels. The vet won't come out and speak to me about this, but instead tells the rather rude clerk at the front, who doesn't know why they decision is made. On top of this, the vets seem uncaring, and seriously overbook themselves so that you're always waiting well past your scheduled appointment time. I would encourage anyone who has a bad experience here to file a formal complaint with the BC Vet Medical Association. I know I will! RID: 30050

11/10/11   5     5     5     5   We have used the Langley Animal Clinic for years for our cats and dogs. We would like to rate this clinic as a top notch clinic, as it has always been clean and staff are kind and knowledgeable. On a recent visit our dog was given life saving treatment by a female Dr McDonald. She explained the situation to us and with our consent preformed life saving surgery. He is doing well and our experience was the best we could have asked for given the situation we were dealing with. RID: 29022

9/15/11   1     1     1     1   We took my old beloved dog in to be euthanized-she was a large breed. Staff offered no help in carrying her in. Staff left the scale out in the middle of the floor and my spouse tripped with the dog injuring himself and traumatizing customers. They messed up my request for private cremation & while they fixed their errors, I had to say goodbye over & over again 3x. I wanted to stay in the room but Dr. Wood advised me not to - I regret that decision still. I called Dr. Wood to follow-up - he refused to speak to me on the phone. I set up an appt with him and he had staff call me that morning to cancel my appt citing he's a vet not a counsellor. I asked them to put cautionary tape around the scale & make sure it stays against the wall. When I went in 2 weeks later to pick up her ashes, the scale was in the middle of the floor again & no high-vis tape was present. The owner assured me they would spend the $4 to tape the area but they didn't. So upset even a year later - don't go there! RID: 27620

5/10/11   1     1     1     1   I would NEVER recommend this clinic! My cat had blood work done and the vet said that based on her results, her kidneys didn't look good, but she wasn't at high risk. These people didn't even take the time to show me how to give my cat pills! I called them and said that I was worried because she refused her medication and food. They were no help and said that I had to get it in her mouth. When I asked if I could crush it, they said no. My cat starved herself after I tried giving her the pills and this vet's answer was to stop them and that she would have to eat eventually! I took her to the Fleetwood vet where they said she was very sick. The staff took the time to show me how to give her pills and even crushed them. She passed away the next day. I am DISGUSTED that the Langley vet said that she was not at high risk when the Fleetwood vet said that she was very sick!! Take your pets to the Fleetwood vet if you want service from people who care and are knowledgeable about animals!! RID: 24919

12/7/10   5     5     5     5   This is a great place! They neutered my dog and even let us come and visit him (he had to stay over night) in the back room where his kennel was. They have a nice facility and they are definately about the animals. We called them once very early in the morning and asked if we could bring our dog in, when we got there we got right into the vet and didn't have to wait at all. Our puppy ended up having parvo and had to be put down and the vet was very understanding, she even sat with us while we cried after Shadow was put to sleep. We have dealt with all the female vets here and they are all great! Never had a problem with the receptionist or anything else really. Highly recommend this office!! RID: 21307
Click to report rating    12/6/10   5     5     5     5   I have taken my dog here to get a large lump removed.. I was quoted a very reasonable rate and they added the blood work and testing, free followup/check up, stitch removal, removed a second lump we found all within the same price. The staff was all very gentle with alley and complimented her constantly on what a good girl she was. They gave us medication to be used and gave specific instructins on it.. Over all I just found that my experience here was amazing! They did a really good job and were prompt on giving us our test results on not only the lump but the bloodwork as well. RID: 21280

9/12/10   1     1     1     1   If you want to have mediocre care, then take your pets here. This is a WARNING to have all information up to date, specifically tattoo and microchip info. My cat was killed and had a tattoo from Langley animal clinic. When the pound called them to search the number they “said” they couldn’t find that tattoo #. I called to update my info, albeit after he had died but they still didn’t let me know WTF. There is a master hand written book to cross reference the computer, all someone had to do was put a little extra effort in. The kicker is I used to work there, I PUT THE NUMBER IN THE COMPUTER MYSELF AND WROTE IT IN THE BOOK! I never got to see him one last time; they stole my closure because they are careless. This is a life we are talking about, he was my family. Dr. Meagher is probably the only good thing about that place! This lack of work ethic and client service stems from the very tip top of this company. You're lucky I have no more room to write. RID: 19697

Click to report rating    3/24/10   1     1     1     1   I had terrible experiences at this clinic-my cat started off with a simple bladder infection but under their care ended up almost dying; the wife of the husband wife team has a disrespecting attitude toward clients; one doctor who was on call berated us for interrupting his dinner with an emergency, when our pet was attacked by another animal and required sutures;some of the office staff are very rude and then immaturely run to the vets/owners compaining about the customers; some of the office staff are disrespectful to customers, publicly critisizing them (the rest of us don't want to overhear that); one veterinarian yelled at us for coming to an appointment at a different time when our appointment time had actually been changed and then instead of appologizing, complained to us about the lack of communication the staff (her co-workers) have there.  2/10/10   2     5     1     2   Absolutely horrible place. The vets don't care about your pets, they're only out for the money, get you in and out as fast as they can (not including Dr Meagher, shes amazing! But only works on Sun and Mon). Brought my dog there for diarrhea problems, the vet didn't even do an exam! He ignored my concerns until my dog crapped in the office, then he got mad at me accusing me that my dog wasn't house trained. He told me he would call me back with the fecal smear results,no phone call, so I called there and he made the excuse that he must have dialed my # wrong (yet he had 2 numbers of mine to reach me). Then he wouldn't even tell me what he was talking about and what to do to help my dog, oh my, he was one of the worst. A warning, DO NOT GO HERE, $200 vet bill for NOTHING, she's still sick.... Click to report rating    9/13/09   1     3     1     1   Not happy with this clinic so I have since moved on. Must say, I was very happy with Dr. Meagher but our paths crossed only once in my visits to this clinic. My last visit I saw a few things that made me decide to look for a new vet. Found this clinic expensive, charged far more than was quoted, felt pressured to go ahead with procedures, not the sort of thing you look for when you are in tears standing in an exam room. Perhaps a set of bad circumstances so I will not say this is a bad clinic. I will say I did have several great visits which is why I went there the last time but through word of mouth and my last visit I decided to seek out a clinic that my family and I were more comfortable with. Click to report rating    3/2/09   1     3     2     1   Warning! They'll try to appeal to your worries and love for your animal to get more money! I unfortunately brought my two dogs here when I couldn't see my normal vet. The dogs had been sick over the past few days - I figured it was something they ate but wanted to get a quick check up, and maybe something for their stomachs. The "doctor" on shift that evening asked me the sames questions a few times, never really seeming to pay attention. He then sent them for x-rays as I waited, each proving inconclusive. He said he thought he saw evidence of a string in one of my dog's intestines...then started talking about how I must love them very much, and how I'd never want to see something bad happen to them, a suggested that I take them in the next day for a barium x-ray and, if that didn't yield results, exploratory surgery ASAP! I paid for x-ray and decided instead to monitor my dogs - sure enough, the got better shortly. What good vet suggests exploratory surgery after 2 days of sickness? RID: 11918

The appt was rushed and the vet seemed to not care at all about my concerns. AFter the appt they ran additional tests without my consent or knowledge, never informed me that they did or gave me the results until they phoned and demanded payment a month later. After arguing with them over payment I finally paid them to avoid the creditors they threatened to send after me. I will never go back. RID: 11781

When i finally got in to see the vet he seemed not to care to much about my concerns. Insted to doing a urinalysis or checking for crystals he sent him home on special food. I was not impressed with them at all RID: 10451
Click to report rating    6/25/08   1     1     1     1   Had a terrible experience with my pet going in for a simple neutering . He was healthy and only 9 months old. He was urinating blood after so I took him back after urine dialisis and x - rays they stated he had crystals in his urine. He was on antibiotics for 3 weeks. Following more x-rays etc. I was passed on from vet to vet. They put him on a special food so when I went to refill this food I was standing in line at their counter when a woman yelled from across the counter to say oh does your dog have crystals in his urine too? Than the woman in from of my says oh they said my cat has crystals in his urine. So I believe they snipped something by accident and just tried covering it up . I will never go back . RID: 9031

5/3/08   2     5     3     1   DO NOT let the Wife/Husband team work on your pet.She did what should have been a simple operation on our beautiful, healthy 5 year old dog and he DIED after we returned with him twice concerned something was terribly wrong. Were treated like we had accused his wife of botching up the surgery and instead of seeing if they did screw up, their pride cost my family the BEST friend you could ever had wished for. We took him to 2 more vets and they both could tell right away he was dying and upon the 2nd vets phone call to them they agreed to open him to fix their mistake, but upon my arrival wanted me to pay for a NEW operation. Not trusting them at all went to a third vet b/c the 2nd vet was in a surgery and my BEST Friend died right on the exam table in front of me while I was telling him to find out what's wrong and of course wasting time talking about evil old money that could be made. I dont blame the 3rd vet cuz my friend was too far gone to be saved.Deceitful from day 1, Stay away! RID: 8377
Click to report rating    2/16/08   1     4     1     1   I had the misfortune of using the Langley Animal Clinic when my usual vet was unavailable. My dog was extremely lethargic and had pale gums. The vet I saw at LAC was indifferent, and seemed to take my concern for my dog's condition very lightly, as if I was over-reacting. On my insistence, blood work was done and it turned out the dog had immune-mediated anemia. It took nearly 24 hours and several phone calls to get the blood results, and by that point the dog's condition had deteriorated significantly; she died that night. Had the problem been recognized sooner and treatment started immediately, she still might not have made it but her chances would have been better. I was very unimpressed with the attitude of the veterinarian and the slow service. RID: 7395
