1/20/18   1     2     2     1   We worked with Dr. Colleen Wilson for a year, trying to resolve a fear-aggression issue with our beautiful Border Collie. She put us on several different protocols of "hard drugs" - ranging from Prozac (fluoxetine) to Trazadone to Clonidine to Gabapentin. When our dog didn't respond (stop the fear-aggression), her response was to (1) increase the dosage, or (2) try a new drug. We told Dr. Wilson on how we were slowly changing her behaviour through gently working through her issues, but we received no encouragement - only advice to increase the dosage! Our dog literally couldn't even stand up, but her fear-aggression continued! We stopped seeing Dr. Wilson, and used a gentle herbal calming medication instead. And we worked with the dog daily - making slow but gradual progress. Today, our dog has resolved most of her issues, without the need for hard drugs. Just gentle behaviour training with her favourite rewards. Try it! And avoid Dr. Wilson's pharmaceutical approach at all costs. RID: 65413
1/9/17   1     5     2     1   Dr. Wilson was a huge let down. She did not give very specialized treatment and her methods at best were just common sense. She does not know how to really diagnose in my case a dog with severe traumatic issues due to a situation with his previous owner. Stress level of the dog increased instead of decreased. Her followup was not very hands on. She was more concerned with her fees than the issue with the dog. When confronted about this she was very rigid and would not listen. She also insisted we fill out a form with questions that did not really pertain to our situation as this dog came to us late in his life. She also contradicted herself a lot during our time together. Also it has been implied she has been certified when in fact she only completed a portion of this by doing a residency with the governing organization. I highly suggest she continue learning before attempting to specialize in this field! RID: 62328
Click to report rating    2/22/16   5     5     5     5   We have been lifelong clients of Dr. Sparling, and have also been very pleased with Dr. Blundell. We have always appreciated the range of options offered: The vets are very clear in indicating what must be done, vs. what is optional. We have also found there is good followup with this clinic at low cost. Good value for money. RID: 59862
Click to report rating    2/9/16   1     1     1     1   PRORATING WITHOUT EDUCATING!! Vet is under umbrella of "Ottawa Valley Veterinary Professional Corporation." The admin director is very aware of what is occurring yet they continue not to educate clients regarding their policies. This email is to protect people from over paying for services (especially if you are new to the area) and exploring Vet options. Note, prorating is absolutely fine if a client is educated and informed prior to moving forward.Email response from clinic: Any exam with vaccines is a bundled price. We do not charge for individual vaccines as we hope this will encourage our clients to vaccinate based on life style as opposed to cost. This means that for your pet, the cost includes the exam as well as any vaccines deemed appropriate. The benefit for you is that when he comes in for his Rabies vaccine +/- his kennel cough vaccine, this will be at no charge as we are just splitting up his vaccines over several visits as opposed to doing them all at once.      2/8/16   1     1     1     1   Was not impressed with Dr. Wilson. Paid for behavioral services with a promised followup as part of the service and in the end, never got it. Also, the methods that she gave us to control her cat's behavior didn't work. Shouldn't practice under that specialty. RID: 59719
