Click to report rating    5/31/22   1     4     1     1   Terrible at triage during the pandemic. Emergency services had a vet who could not do one of the most common emergency services, stomach torsion. Said he could “try” but would have to research the work. Dog had to be euthanized due to poorly triaged service, despite being told the problem could be bloat. Who would reasonably consider that expensive surgery with a vet who said he’d have to research as he went. J.P. Settimi is not qualified to be an emergency care vet. RID: 70344
Click to report rating    9/30/20   2     4     3     1   First visit and not impressed. They pressure you into doing tests that are not really required, and charge extremely high prices to do them. There are other vets in town that are good, and charge much less. I had other issues with this clinic, and do not plan on returning again. RID: 69571
Click to report rating    7/25/19   5     5     5     1   There is one common theme with this place when it comes to the bad and that's the price to go here. I don't care how fantastic the vet is, it's not worth the extreme up charge. I wanted to get my dog's teeth cleaned. This place, 217 for blood work and quoted 819 just to clean the teeth. Another vet in Kingston quoted 638 to clean the teeth which INCLUDED blood work. Nearly $400 difference. Absurd. RID: 68391
Click to report rating    10/19/18   2     3     2     1   Beware! This clinic will do everything they can to get you to spend the most amount of money. They are constantly pushing you for expensive treatments and medication and take advantage of owners who care about their pets. Incredibly expensive, with lots of extra fees they don't mention until you are just about to pay. RID: 66926
Click to report rating    7/3/17   2     2     1     1   BEWARE! Over priced and money hungry. I went in for an emergency visit with my dog and I felt like I was over sold a lot of things that were not necessary. I felt as if I was taken advantage of due to my fragile state by Dr. Latimer. They do not consider the well being of your pet, they see dollar signs in their eyes. You will end up paying 75% more than any other vet. RID: 64077
Click to report rating    5/8/17   5     5     5     1   Our story is similar to many others here. We have always taken our animals to PAH but after doing some comparison research we too have left this clinic and moved to another. The staff at PAH are wonderfully compassionate. No complaints there but the prices are 2 to 3 times higher than other vet clinics I've researched. Sad to leave but I am on a fixed income. RID: 63578
Click to report rating    3/7/16   5     4     4     1   I've been bringing my cat to this vet since we got her 6 months ago. The facility and people are amazing, but I feel like I've been overcharged each time I go, on top of them requesting tests that I believe are unnecessary to up the bill. I had my 7 month old cat spayed and within a week her stitches started to come out and they got infected. Thankfully I was able to get her in today to get her looked after, but after spending more than $400 on the spay, now I have to pay another $140 to have her taken care of, (antibiotics, etc.) I understand there's a cost involved with getting rid of the infection/ healing, but I feel like the amount altogether is too much and I'm being taken advantage of. As a young person without a ton of expendable income, I'm going to look for another place to take my cat from now on. RID: 59956
Click to report rating    10/1/14   5     5     5     5   I don't know what all the complaining about price is about. I find you get what you pay for and you will never find a vet as compassionate and caring as Jeff Latimer. I've since moved and miss Jeff's care that he gave my dog. He has a state of the art hospital - your pet couldn't be in better hands. RID: 53831
9/4/14   4     5     4     1   Staff very friendly, vets are the same , facility newer & clean BUT this clinic sets the gold standard for upselling & overcharging. They claim that the health of your pet is their #1 priority but that takes a back seat to maximizing profits. I'm not against anyone making a buck but I draw the line at price gouging and preying on people's weakness for their pets. My son, who was home from out of town, took his dog in for what we thought would be a minor issue. The owner/vet took a quick look & had his staff draw up a repair procedure & price for the procedure - we were shocked when presented with a price of $781.00 plus tax - AND this was the lesser of the two options he suggested. Needless to say, my son declined the procedure, we did a temporary home treatment on the dog, he took her to his own vet the next day & walked out with a bill of $178.00 including tax !! I have been taking my dogs to this vet for close to 18 years but I am now going to change vets due to this episode. RID: 53396
Click to report rating    5/12/14   5     5     5     5   Everyone at this clinic cares about their patients and the patients' human families, and they keep very up-to-date on diseases and treatments. We are always given full information on recommended treatments, but never feel pressured. Callbacks and follow-up is impeccable, and no problem is ever too trivial to discuss with this excellent team. RID: 51536

3/7/14   5     5     5     5   Thank you for the great comments. You are quite right, veterinary care is becoming more and more expensive. Fortunately, we have a provincial fee schedule which ensures similar fees among hospitals for similar services. If it is ever difficult to see how you can save costs by decreasing the care, please ask one of our team. We are proud to be the first in Kingston to offer wellness plans which let your pet's care be 100% predictable and budgeted for. Thank you, Dr. Jeff Latimer RID: 50377
Click to report rating    2/1/14   5     5     3     1   They are a good clinic. Unfortunately, I cant afford to go there anymore. I can pay for good service, but they cost way more then other local clinics who are just as good. Guess someone has to pay for the nice building. RID: 49604
