I took my beloved dog there on a Sat night when my vet was not open. They met me at the door and put him on a gurney,took his vitals and ran him back for ?care? Dr came out 15 min later and said my dog was very sick and did I want to put him down because he was 13 years old. I said absolutely not, I want my dog treated. 30 min later Dr comes back w/ Blood work saying he is very sick and diabetic and dehydrated! We had no idea our dog, Guiness was diabetic-we requested treatment. Took another hour to determine we needed 5 or 6 THOUSAND dollars to treat him and keep him over week end. No way could we get that kind of money, they wanted it NOW before treating him. Meanwhile,he was lying in back the whole time with NO CARE! They put an IV port in him but didn't even give him any fluids or any comfort measures. Bottom line we paid over $600 and they gave him IV fluids and we took him home.It was a nightmare, he started having seizures at home and died that night. NEVER TAKE YOUR PET THERE!

Please do not take your pet here. We love our pets and wouldn't take them to the ER if we didn't. My dog nearly dies from dehydration while in the care of DR. Barbara Maton. The Dr. failed to provide and recommend a fluid IV for nearly 6 hours even though he had a temperature of 104.7. I consulted with several other Vet's who questioned the tests that were done and the failure on their part to perform more relevant tests. There was never any treatment or diagnosis given after eight hours at AVETS. My dog "Enzo" almost didn't make it to see our Vet during regular business hours due to severe dehydration. Please do research there are other places to take your animal in the Pittsburgh area. I filed a grievance with AVETS and they responded by covering for DR. Maton. If you must use this place ask questions and consult with a more experienced and committed professional while you’re sick animal awaits care

please dont call them for advice i called them because my dog drank vegetable oil and told them that she was throwing up had diareeah asked them if i should bring her in they said no shell be ok thats normall she was doing better the next day then two days later she wass still nausea and couldnt stand now i called them again they said bring her out when i get tgere they tell me my dogs in crital cond and needs surgery asap they make u come up wlth a lot of money before they do the surgery and then my dog dies because of one of ther vets who didnt n what they r doin or if u dont have the money they tell u ucan put them down who wants to do that to there pet no one if they can help it so yes they killed my dog and i will never forget this

This is a 24/7 business. Took my dog here when he was hit by a car. They did an excellent job on him, gave him great care. I wouldn't hesitate to go back. I gave the Monetary Value a 3 only because it was an emergency situation and it's always much more pricey under those circumstances. I don't know what this place charges within normal hours. BTW, I don't know why it only says "Cats" under who they treat. I took my dog there.
