I’ve been coming here for over 50 years with many wonderful pets. I loved the place and had the same vet, Dr.Goodrich, for all that time. He was empathetic, knowledgeable and honorable. Best of all he treated my pets so very well. He retired and sold the clinic. My visit a few months ago with my 18 month puppy was horrific. He had nightmares for a week afterward, and I hated that I hadn’t left the office when he was handled so badly. He was excited, he’s still young, but did not growl or show any aggression at all when the vet came in. He wanted to say hi and sniff. The vet never let him or acknowledged him but got assistance to pin him against the wall. He was terrified and I’ll never forgive myself for not stopping it. Even pinned and afraid, he didn’t become aggressive. In my 50 years of vet visits through 8 dogs no one ever did this. Dr. G had seen him before during first year 3/4 Xs. He handled him easily but he said hi to him first. To be a vet, you should like dogs.

This clinic used to be incredible, with experienced vets. Over the years, there has been turn over to a corporation. The current quality fluctuates and you never know who you will get. Dr Goodridge and Dr Hickling are wonderful. Dr Mooi is fine. Dr Ciwko is the worst. I would never bring my cat here ever again because there’s no guarantee about the quality. Dr Ciwko is completely conceited, incompetent and she doesn’t know what she’s doing. She will administer many tests to try to figure it out and her bedside manner is awful. You will spend a fortune for her to learn. I brought my cat to another clinic who diagnosed her right away when Dr Ciwko couldn’t ever figure it out. On any given day, you could get anyone.

I wish I would've came to this clinic in the first place instead of bridge water then pembina vets where I didn't get the answers I needed or compassion when my little furbaby had parvo. The young Korean vet here was very knowledgeable, he was compassionate to my situation, and we worked WITH me to get the proper care my girl needed.

Took my gecko to see Dr. Mooi. He explained things very well and his assistant was very gentle with my gecko. Dr. Mooi was able to pick up on small details without me having to point them out. The staff was also very friendly. Waiting for my gecko's meds took a little longer since they had to dilute the dosages. It's hard to find good reptile vets in Winnipeg, but Centennial Animal Hospital is definitely an amazing option.

We sought out Centennial after recommendation by a friend specifically for the care of our guinea pigs. Have been impressed by the thoroughness of the veterinary team and appreciate the friendly clinic staff. All fees have been well within the quotes given. No complaints here, and happy to have such capable vets for our pocket pets - hard to find!

They sell you junk you don't need instead of paying attention to the dog's actual health. A few quick basic checks, pay the bill - next!

We recently had to euthanize one of our beloved dogs. Dr. Mooi and the staff were absolutely wonderful. The respect that was shown to Hobbs, my daughter, and myself, was greatly appreciated. No matter how many times you go through this process, it is heartbreaking. Thank you so much for your kindness.

I have written a review on vetratingz.com Very unhappy with the quality of care and the price. My dog had 7 stitches done on a clean skin tear for $710

I take my dog here. Dr Brown and Dr Crump are both caring and really listen to the problem. Dr. Crump takes her time and is very cautious in her care of my rescued dog. The price is always reasonable and she gives all the options for care. The front desk staff is helpful and professional and the clinic is always clean and well kept. The Dr is always on time. We saw Dr Brown for an emergency visit and again he was careful in his treatment and I was very happy with the care.

2 stars because their boarding facility deserves a 1 (0 if i could) but the vets deserve a 4 (5 for our vet, but ultimately 4 for the high prices.) We left our handicap bunno with the boarding staff for a week and got him back in a severely declined mental and physical state. We brought him in for a checkup and supplement care which was an expected expense. Boarding staff assumed zero responsibility! Onto the vet staff, Dr. Hickling is amazing! She is great with our handicap bunno and was very supportive when it was time to put my sick cat down. My cat showed no signs of distress like the other reviewers mentioned, but i had also requested a sedative prescription so i could try to make it so he fell asleep at home so that his last memories were of home. Sedative wasn't strong enough to completely knock him out, but at least we was very relaxed (even during the tube insertion into his vein) and had one last cuddle blanket-bundled with me before dr.hickling administered the injection.

Staff are friendly and effective. All my dogs have gone there over the past 25 years. When they see where we are going they wag their tails in appreciation. The boarding is rather old fashioned so we find another option, usually family where they are free to run around and play with the other dogs.

We all know this is a business BUT a little more integrity would be welcome.I have to agree with other reviewers who say they are more interested in generating income from unnecessary tests than they are in serving their clients. At the end of the day they are a meat factory. After actually showing us a X-ray with a large mass blocking intestines, they wanted to treat the dogs kidneys. They ignored their initial analysis in order to do more tests & treatmeants, and make more cahs before putting the poor dog out of its' misery.Shameful!

I went to the clinic with my 21 year old cat with what I thought was a tooth problem. Turns out it was a tumor and the cat needed to be euthanized. Dr. Saydack was so kind to my pet. She let me have as much time as I needed and explained exactly how the procedure worked. She provided my cat and my family with the upmost respect. I couldn't have asked for a more compassionate and caring doctor. I was not charged for the diagnosis and the cost to euthanize and cremate my pet was more than fair. It is obvious that the doctors and staff love animals and will do anything in their power to help you and your pet. I can't recommend this clinic more! If you want to a professional and respectful clinic where the staff will do there best to care for your pet please bring your animal here!

I have no idea why there are so many negative reviews. I love this place and am glad I chose them (admittedly on a whim). The staff have always been pleasant with me. I always like to arrive a little early for an appointment and they will put me in a room right away and get to me on time (or earlier) than the appointment was scheduled. I used to take my old cat to a different vet who charged me about 100$ just to see my cat, do no blood tests or whatever and gave me q wrong diagnosis. So when I got a new kitten I chose any other vet. These people seem much more knowledgable, actually do tests instead of just looking at tot animal with their eyes and the total cost of the visit still comes out cheaper. I will definitely keep bringing my kitty and any other animals I may have in the future to the wonderful people at Centennial.

We had been going here over many years but no more. Some staff are kind but one of the female vets on staff is truly one of the coldest vets we have ever encountered. Not helpful in the least and it's a shame for the animals involved. If you don't want to truly help animals, then find another profession. Totally agree about the level of callousness and dishonesty.

This clinic was AMAZING for my rabbit's spay! I was so nervous for the surgery, I was in tears from the moment I walked in. They were reassuring and caring the whole time. They called me after the blood tests, before and after the surgery and then again when she was awake. Despite my fear, they made the whole thing go as smoothly as possible. When they told me that they wanted to keep her overnight just to be sure she was fully awake, I was horribly worried that something was wrong. They let me come in and sit with her in an exam room for almost an hour that evening and Dr. Hickling came in and took the time to tell me, in person, how it all went. When I came to get her the next afternoon, all the techs knew her by name and came to say good bye. She wasn't nervous at all! They gave me a helpful booklet on post surgery care and answered all my questions. I trust Dr. Hickling with every one of my pets and recommend her to everybody!

My family has taken our pets to Centennial for 20+ yrs. Once I got my own dogs, I continued the tradition. I've always been happy with their service, friendliness of the staff, & the facility. I can't comment on pricing as I've never gone anywhere else to compare. I recently had one of my dogs become ill. He was almost 14 so I knew he didn't have much longer. I followed Dr. G's recommendations for standard testing, nothing over the top. While waiting to get in elsewhere for an ultrasound some bloodwork came back which indicated he probably had cancer. He quickly declined over the holidays then one morning he just couldn't stand and wouldn't eat. It was time. I took him in & Dr. G administered a sedative then euthanized him. Throughout this experience Dr. G made time for me to explain the situation, made himself available over the holidays, and even called me on New Year's day to check on my dog. I will continue to use Centennial for the support they provided during this hard process.

Callous disregard by technicians and vets alike. Advised us to take our beloved kitten to Minneapolis for an 8 week stay so she could have surgery to remove a tumor near her heart. Unfortunately an 8 week hotel stay as well as open heart surgery for Fiesta was well beyond what we could afford. Requests for on an ongoing prescription for her medication were continually ignored and requests from the pharmacist for renewals were left sitting on desks for up to a day and a half. Technicians felt free to hang up on angry clients demanding proper care for their pets.

I LOVE this vet office. I highly recommend Dr.Petkau, she is the only vet i have ever met that hasnt just tried to spend my money on pointless tests. I have taken my 4 dogs there for years. My little Shih-tzu recently threw out her back but we didnt know it, we only knew something was off, we called them and explained her symptoms and they squeezed us in within an hour of calling. When we took her in, Dr.Petkau diagnosed her gently, compassionately and quickly. She then prescribed pain and anti-inflammatory meds. She said she could do an x-ray which will likely lead to the same medication to be prescribed so she said we could do the x-ray or save our money and go right to the medication. We ended up just taking the meds and she is doing much better and is now more comfortable. I would recommend Dr.Petkau to anyone. She is very knowledgeable, experienced and handles all animals with great care with their best interests in mind.

A little pricey but we wouldn't go anywhere else for our 16 pets (3 dogs, 3 cats, turtle and 9 snakes). They treated my rescue pet every 2nd day for her broken foot because she would eat the cast. They have treated several ear infections, an allergy and an eye infection on our dogs, our old gerbil with a tumor, our old cat with a urinary tract infection and even helped us with a snake that almost choked to death when it accidentally swallowed a wire it pried loose from the side of it's tank. They have given us free advice many times over the phone and taken the extra time to walk us through our options and give us the reasons behind their recommendations. Several of their vets have even given us letters of support to help fight pro-animal causes. Dr's Hickling, McDonald, Goodridge, Clark and Petkau have all been excellent. We wouldn't go anywhere else.

Dr. Leanna Paetkau is the most heartless person I have ever met. She's only there to make a paycheque and really doesn't care about animals. My dog was terrified when leaving that place and has not been the same since. I cannot prove it, but I have a gut feeling that she was too aggressive towards my boy. I will never deal with her or that clinic ever again.

I agree dealt with the same experience as one of the commenters from '09. My family and I took my cat in to get put down as she was very very ill. We had no idea that they did not sedate them before the actual shot.. it was horrific. My father who is usually alright with these situations was also horrified at how we all had to watch our poor baby struggle. Its a moment i will never forget, and we're not going to be giving them any more business.

My animals have been seen by both Dr. Hickling and Dr. Mould. I must say that Dr. Mould was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. Quite pricey, but kept my pet overnight after surgery and I could not have done that myself so it was worth the cost.

Centennial Animal Hospital is rated as fair?? Are you kidding me?? Used to take a dog we had many years ago to a Vet "way up the street" and all THEY were interested in was giving him Prednisone for just about anything and everything. Got to hate it, immensely. Changed Vets to CAH and in particular to Dr. Hickling. Dr. Gooidrich has stepped in when Dr. Hickling was not available. They CARE! Aa far as being too pricey - tell me what isn't if you want quality. I have groaned about the cost many times to myself, but if you can't pay the price, don't own an animal(mutt or purebred). My animals can't speak for themselves, therefore they have to get the best medical attention. We have them for such a short time in some cases.

Took my 11 year old german shepherd in to be put to sleep. He couldn't keep his food down, would only drink water, & had no interest in going for walks or playing frisbee which he loved. He only wanted to lay behind the chair in our living room. My husband & I realized that he wasn't going to get better. He just kept getting worse, so we made the difficult decision to have him put to sleep. We took him to the vet & she wanted to do blood work & an ultrasound which we refused. She gave him some pain medication& sent us home. This cost us $400.00. A few days later, as our poor dog was obviously suffering & couldn't even keep the pain meds down, we returned to the vet. She did more bloodwork & put him on intravenous to try & re-hydrate him & told us to come back later. Shortly after that, a male vet phoned us & said our dog had cancer & should be euthanized. We were than charged another $400.00. If they had put him to sleep as we asked, it would have cost $77.00.

Agree with some previous comments...higher priced than other clinics, no sedation prior to euthanasia so more distress on the part of the animal. Brought out a binder of urns for us to choose from rather than telling us we could just go with the standard urn...overall would not recommend.

We have only good things to say about Centennial and in particular, about Dr. Goodridge, who was our dog's veterinarian for three years and who is now our cat's vet. Dr. Goodridge is a very caring, knowledgeable vet who is observant and competent. He always takes the time to contact us by phone to let us know how our pet is doing and to respond to any questions we may have. He also takes the time to research new medications, procedures, etc. The staff is wonderful, following up after procedures with phone calls. We feel that we get our money's worth when we take our treasured companions to Centennial.

I brought my suddenly sick dog in during the holidays 4 years ago. Upon the vet hearing I fed him raw food (all his 13 years of life!) he became obsessed in trying to prove pancreatitis. Many tests later I was sent home with antiBs & pain killers and advised to take him into my reg vet in the morning (he apparently was fine despite obvious abdominal pain and a slightly elevated WBC). My dog was dead 5 hours later. I took xrays and test results to my reg vet who guessed cancer after seeing the xray. I can't really fault the vet at Centennial but man was I irritated about the pancreatic blinders he was obviously wearing! I don't think my dog should have been sent home but rather kept for observation, especially because he did have a history of minor siezures.

We used to use Centennial as the primary clinic for our rescue, but have decided not to send any more business their way. Staff is rude and unprofessional, treated our foster parents poorly, demanded payment from fosters when charges should have been sent directly to us, and generally conducted themselves without regard for the animals in their care.

The doctors at Centennial are my heroes! I take all of my pets there and have been seen by every vet. They are one of the few places in Winnipeg that have over-night stays for surgery patients and mandatory IV fluids. They are a little pricey, but I think it is worth it. They truly care about your pets!
