We took our old gerbil to this vet in May 2018 when he was really sick and luckily caught it early enough to make a difference. They gave us antibiotics that helped but he's sick with the same symptoms again. I called to ask if we could get antibiotics without having to bring him in as the last time it exacerbated his condition but was told it had been too long since our last visit. First I was told we could bring him in for an expensive emergency visit today. We don't have a lot of money so I asked when the next regular appointment was. Sunday. Doubt our guy will last that long sadly. We will never return to this vet. I would like to highlight the real incentive for those who work here. MONEY! Nothing is free but being so heartless as to deny help unless we pay exorbitant emergency fees seems wrong. I guess a couple hundred bucks for the May visit wasn't enough to save our boys life. Take your money elsewhere if you want a vet who loves animals as much as you. We learned the hard way.

We saw Dr. McLaughlin for a URI in my hedgehog. She was rough and abrupt, which scared him, so she declared he needed to be sedated, which is very risky. I had to decline her repeatedly and told her to let me hold him instead to see if he would relax, which he did. She then snatched him out of my hands, grabbing far more skin than required for a simple scruffing, and she clenched so tightly (without supporting his weight) that she cut off his circulation and he turned dark pink. She was so rough during this that she actually broke one of his quills. She repeatedly pushed for sedation, and concluded that he also needed x-rays and blood work. They cared more about selling $500 of unnecessary procedures. In summary: She was impatient with the animal, used excessive force and restraint which hurt the animal, repeatedly insisted on risky sedation, x-rays, and blood work, all for a runny nose, and just wanted to make me spend more money.
