Usually I received great care and service for my pets. However, they are not qualified to handle exotics outside of reptiles (what Dr. G specializes in.) I brought my rat in for surgery, they returned her with a makeshift cone to prevent her from gnawing at her sutures. After bringing her in to show she hasn't been eating (due to inability to hold food to mouth because of cone), they suggested I could absolutely take the cone on and off at will. This ended up resulting in a traumatic injury with her eye that resulted in an emergency enucleation @ Guelph. In short, the plastic cone was too tight and her frighteningly pulling out of the cone resulted in they injury. I am disappointed that the team did not A) do sufficient research at much safer ways of preventing rats from biting sutures, and B) not accounting for their error after I told them what their advise had resulted in. Luckily, old one-eye recovered well and finished the last of her days surrounded by her loving family.

Brought in cat for emergency, they charged us 300 to help him, only to say it would be another 1700. They said we had 12 hours to get the money. It was 10pm at night. We tried the horrible payment plan leaflet they gave us which said I wasn't eligible because I don't have any credit (literally none). We scrambled to try to get money. We were ready to put our beloved cat down but they wouldn't tell us the price, they just said they were going to call around to "find someone willing to pay for the surgery". They call back less than 5 minutes later saying they found someone and gave us the choice of kill or surrender. Our only option was to surrender, which I never signed but my boyfriend did. The cat is under my name to our regular vet. They nurse was rude and condescending with everything she said about his problem, basically making it like my actual vet was wrong. He is now separated from his birth sister and older step brother. If your pet is very sick, don't bring them here.

My partner and I had just taken our two cats in for check ups today and had a horrible experience. After our cats had their cleaning they had red necks, minor bruising and our one cat had fairy deep scratches that bled.

Excellent service but what impressed me was the open-mindedness and communication on the part of the doctors. They know how to listen and will try to get to the root of the problem without resorting to agenda or what is popular in the medical establishment. A very competent, progressive, and informed group open to alternative treatments which work. I am very pleased and my kitty is returning to normal health. Thank-you!

I saw Dr. Gilbert and both he and Dr. Apollo have high credentials and are into the top research for pets. So this is a state of the art facility. Dr. Gilbert toured me through and they have instant scans for pets, immediate oxygen and their operating table is heated to cause less trauma e.g. after a dog has been hit by a car and needs surgery. The facility is gorgeous and clean and tidy, and they carry pet food for special diets for both cats and dogs. Dr. Gilbert and front staff Bryan were very warm and caring. My cat is carrying FIP virus and I needed the support of a vet that would understand what that means (not just pass it off as irrelevant as another Stoney Creek vet did when I mentioned it to him). More important to me staff were supportive in be willing to obtain new data for me by sending poop and blood samples to special lab in England as my previous vet had done. Dr. Gilbert specializes in tumour / cancer vet medicine; and Dr. Apollo dentistry for pets.
