Attended a suspected laminitis case, 2 hour response time. The Dr began stating things inappropriately regarding case creating drama. and fear in the owners. "If I hadn't got here when I did, an hour later she would be dead. Upon reading the X-rays he stated that it is one of the most severe case of laminitis he's observed. He said you just never know, she may end up euthanized no matter what we do creating owner panic. We elected to order rads and venograms to see if she had a chance. He said he has to put her in the "ultimate wedge" A controversial shoe. We suggested standard sole cushion bandaging for comfort and easy access to treat feet and hocks at least the first 48 hrs or Soft Ride therapy boots. He was condescending stating if we would choose either it would be completely inhumane and that we would kill her! He stated his plan was the only plan for her and if we didn't like it, get another vet. He applied the wedges against instruction, couldn't treat her feet. Nasty thrush!
