I do NOT recommend EVAH because (1) The first question Dr. Martha asked me; "What race are you??". How is my race / ethnicity related to veterinary care for my pet? I was SO upset. (2) Dr. M. administered a vaccine. She did not give me a choice between one year or three year rabies shot even tho the latter is apparently associated with a higher incidence of vaccine associated sarcoma (VAS). Dr. M. did not even mention VAS! It was discussed by another vet at XX clinic. I thought "informed consent" meant offering the patient the benefits, risks & extraneous considerations. She just administered the vaccine. I discovered it was the 3 year vaccine on the bill. Im sure there are caring professionals working at EVAH. Sadly, my experience today means I will not be going back.

Called for my dog's lame leg and found out they will see him only for neutering. The tone of the voice of the woman on the phone left no doubt that I was at best a bad owner and at worst a backyard breeder. I do not see how ethical it is to deny seeing an injured dog unless the owner agrees to have their dog pumped full of drugs and cut into without seeing to the injury first. My dog is not neutered because he is an apartment dog and I have read a ton of research done on it and it is healthier for him to stay intact since he is friendly and will never get out and impregnate the dogs on our building's floor that do not exist. I understand the need for spay and neuter but this is unethical and irresponsible. Low income people can read and find out whether neutering their dog is in their best interest. It is also not beyond them to keep their dog on the leash when outside. I am glad that my dog will be seeing another vet.

They are extremely rude they make up lies they aren't consistent, they mixed my cat up with a stray cat an cut the tip of my cats ear off so she's considered a stray now even though she came in with her sister same cage same time if they are that busy then maybe they shouldn't be taking on as many animals as they are.i was VERY disappointed as there is no need to get animals mixed up!

Upper James Hamilton....
Very incompetent and unprofessional. You call when you get there, but they rarely answer the phone, and don't check messages throughout the day (very sensible!) They booked my dogs ultrasound for the wrong day, and even called to confirm it! Didn't call when she was done, can't seem to handle billing, ignore you outside then lock the door in your face like you're a nasty child. So many mistakes, and over a week after my dogs ultrasound, I STILL have not heard a thing. I am VERY SORRY I ever took my dog there!

Most compassionate people you will ever meet. All of the staff (Katie, Laurie, Dr. Martha - ALL of them) are saints. They work with few resources in order to provide affordable care for those of low income/on social assistance. I see comments on here that are wildly inaccurate and sound like those "reviewers" are grabbing at straws to complain about anything - you know the type of people they are... want to find issues with everyone and everything. If you have any concerns at all, CALL THE CLINIC - the staff are amazing, they explain everything and how it all works. Yes, you may have to wait a little longer than some other vet clinics, but that's because these guys CARE. They want to help everyone, all of those who cannot afford care elsewhere, and they stay late almost every evening to accommodate YOU and HELP YOU. They are worth the wait!

Dr. Martha, Katie, and all the other staff were wonderful as we lost 3 furry family members within 6 months. I've never met more compassionate people. Yes, they are busy, so sometimes there is a wait, but you can't hurry kindness. Medication prices are wholesale, not retail, so that helped a lot when we had to administer pain meds.

I had a wonderfully communication with the staff. Bringing in my 14 barn cats was quite a task. I had help with filling out the information, picking out names for the furbabies and I had help with putting the cats in the van to start out trek back home. I am returning to bring more cats to be spayed and neutered.Hopefully sooner than later.. Yikes!! Spring is just around the corner!!!!

Staff are never friendly, make frequent administrative and billing mistakes, and because they serve vulnerable populations generally treat people like crap, even if the Vets are great. After a horrible encounter with these unprofessional staff members I received a call from Dr. Martha threatening to deny my sick pet service. Very unprofessional, unethical, and price wise I found another vet with similar pricing and will NEVER visit EVAC ever again. Plus my dog cam home with a cut to her head, that was not explained. I would recommend staying clear unless absolutely desperate.

Good idea for a clinic (geared to people on low incomes), but they need some serious work! They have a $10 transportation service where they will pick up your pet, take it to their clinic to do what needs to be done, then bring it back to you. They were over AN HOUR late dropping my very sick cat back home to me - no phone call to let us know they were running late, and when I tried calling the clinic, no answer. I eventually got a hold of the hospital manager, Laurie, who told me to arrange my own transportation next time! A few days later in the mail, we get a letter from them saying they will no longer be providing service to my pets. I did nothing wrong! I have since found out I am not the only one who has had an unpleasant experience with them. Also, they totally overcharged me. I paid $20+tax for a bag of IV fluids that was DONATED to them by a hospital. I later found a specialty store that only charges $4.50 total for the same thing! How is that helpful to people on low incomes?
