They couldn't see my sick dog who was a client because they were "so busy" but when they were the 'vet on call' they could see him for an inflated rate.
Because of his sickness, he was on a special diet. We ordered his food which they had ordered previously without issue. The day we picked up the food was the day our dog was being seen by the vet ($1500 later). The next day we had to drive across the country. We discovered they ordered the wrong food (now in Alberta). I called them and said you ordered the wrong dog food and it has made him sick. They said they would refund the food but they wanted it returned to them. I said we were not returning to BC. They insisted. I said that this was their error not ours. They wouldn't be able to resell it. After much back and forth and a call with the office manager who acted like she didn't know the situation she said "of course we will refund it for you". A month later I received a letter from them firing us as clients.

I switched to this clinic as I had dealt with both vets at a different location, previously. I was happy with their services until my dog became very ill. I called to get advise close to the evening and was told to just call in the morning and try to book an appointment. I ended up having to go to another clinic that night, on an emergency basis, as my dog was getting sicker and sicker and was in distress. I will always wonder if I had been advised to take her to another clinic right away if she would have lived. They should be upfront and let their customers know they do not want to deal with sick animals after hours and prefer to leave the clinic right on time!

All the staff here is amazing. The vets are both great, very knowledgeable and if they are unsure about treatment they research further before charging you unnecessarily. One of my cats loves going there, because the animals are treated like royalty. Two of my animals have on going issues and these guys don't charge for every single thing every single time you go in which is nice and the staff is so friendly that you end up feeling like they are friends. They are also very good at returning phone calls and emailing records. I've been in animal rescue for several years, so have worked with every vet in town and when I heard these guys were opening a clinic I got very excited as I had dealt with both of them at their previous clinic. I don't want to use any other vet for my personal animals or my rescue animals.

I have been taking my cats to Dr. McKelvey for many years. She provided outstanding care for my old, insulin dependent diabetic cat who was in renal failure. He was almost 20 when he passed. Now I foster for our local shelter and have brought many sick kittens/cats to Aberdeen Vet. We always receive fantastic care from Dr. McKelvey, Dr. Gummeson, and staff and I trust them completely. I would highly recommend Aberdeen Veterinary Clinic.

I'm an animal rescuer who has been dealing with Dr. McKelvey for over 15 years. She is an incredibly talented veterinarian and also a wonderful person. I have taken many cats and dogs to her over the years. She has such great instincts that she can diagnose problems with accuracy. She has saved the lives of many of our rescued animals. Dr. McKelvey doesn't reach for the most expensive treatments when a less costly one is available. She works closely with reputable rescues and believes in the work that we do. The new vet clinic is state of the art and they are an accredited AAFP Cat Friendly Practice. They have separate facilities for cats and dogs which is so important when an animal is recuperating from an illness or surgery. Dr. McKelvey is one of only 2 feline specialists in the province. Aberdeen Veterinary Hospital is a wonderful facility and we are so lucky to have Dr. McKelvey and Dr. Gummeson in Kamloops.

I took my very sick kitty to Diane McKelvey; I was told she was a cat specialist thus I zoomed to see her. In one sentence the vet was HORRIBLE, did not HELP, gave cat death sentence and never offered to do anything or give anything, seemed more interested in saving me money. I requested anti nausea meds myself when leaving. I was offered 1 pill. I left having to find other means and medication on my own to save my kitty. I searched out Zentronil on my own and later requested Ursodiol from vet but told I had to bring her back in (money grab)(should of had all this and more in first visit) Since the first visit I was told how sick and will likely die. I was told to hydrate her with electrolytes after second visit but would not offer me support or assistance to receive it. I requested reports to be sent over to another vet, they doctored up reports with false information about what she said/I said and what she had done. HORRIBLE and should never be licensed to practice PERIOD!
