I had a dachshund growing up and we took her here. She's always loved the staff and they always worked with our tight budget. At one point in her life she lost the use of her back legs and Dakota Vet's staff were amazing helping us doing therapies with her and for the rest of her life she was running and jumping like new! Now I have my own dog who's scared of being touched and can be very defensive. I immediately knew I needed to take him here and they've been amazing! Very accommodating of his fears, taking things slow for him and he did amazing at our visit! I love these guys so much, they're wonderful!

We have taken all our dogs to the Dakota Veterinary Hospital over the last 2 decades. We have always received exemplary service and care for our dogs. Dr. Bartley has been our primary vet, but I also have equal faith and trust in the other vets when Dr. B. is not available. The fact that the Dakota Vet is still independently owned and operated places it head and shoulders above the corporate vet chains that are more interested in collecting fees than animal well-being. Cheers to the Dakota staff who all do an exemplary job caring for our beloved animal companions.

I have used Dakota Veterinary Hospital for over 20 years. Dr. Bartley has been my primary Vet. She is truly incredible! Knowledgeable, professional, easy to talk to or ask questions of and truly passionate of the health of my dogs. I had 5 dogs that she has provided exceptional care for. I am down to 2 dogs and Dr. Bartley has helped me through the most painful part of pet ownership. I can't thank her enough for all the excellent care she has provided to my dear boys. Also the many times she has calmed and assisted me with an issue with any of my dogs. Frankly she is an incredible Veterinarian and human being. Over the years many staff have come and gone. I found all of them to be professional and caring. Some are exceptional. Katherine, the office manager has always been there to help. Offer suggestions and caring comforting words. She truly cares about the pets and their owners. The current staff, front line and technicians are stellar. Special shout out to Larissa !

Dr. Bartley and all the staff at Dakota Veterinary have our full confidence and appreciation for the excellent care and service they have provided for our now-12-year-old Border Terrier, Geordie, since we moved to Manitoba in 2016. Everyone is friendly and caring, and always concerned about Geordie's welfare. Before moved to Manitoba Geordie was hesitant and not happy going to a vet clinic; now he marches in, plops down on the scale for his weigh-in, and then happily enters the exam room, no matter what awaits. He has multiple health issues so he sees Dr. Bartley fairly often, but he trusts her implicitly, no matter what she or her technicians have to do. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for such wonderful care.

Staff is friendly, professional, informed and helpful. Our boys (2 shih tzus) are fully at ease and as impressed with Dr. Bartley as we are. Her care, attention to detail and information and suggestions towards the care of our boys is much appreciated and always on point. We will attend Dakota Vet as long as we have pets, which will be always.

It takes a team to really help your dog through an injury or aging process. A skilled vet with experience is key, but the team that supports your vet can make or break the entire experience. For me the front desk team at Dakota are what help me feel confident in how my pets are looked after. If it's Catherine doing a follow up after a procedure, or Larissa on the phones or text - great communication builds my confidence in this team. Great vetting without communication leads to doubt and lack of confidence in how everything else is handled. Well done you guys, thanks for keeping my Sadie and Pennifried on your radar.

My husband and I recently adopted a puppy from MUR. This rescue is associated with Dakota Vets and for good reason. We have had nothing but a great experience with this veterinary hospital. From the moment you walk in you feel taken care of. After our pup's surgery there was a follow up phone call and a follow up text. I have talked a couple of times with out vet, Dr. Gould, and she is wonderful. All my questions and concerns were handled in a caring professional manner. We will be staying with the vet even though it is a little bit of a drive for us. Thanks!

We brought our previous dog here his entire life and it was wonderful, they took great care of him from the start to the end of his life. A bit more expensive, but was worth it at the time. 2 years ago we got a new dog (3 years after ours had passed), and naturally we returned here. However, since being back, we have had very negative experiences. Not getting called back when we are supposed to (but being told they left a message, although there was nothing at all in my call history or my husbands), staff that put us on hold and then forget about us (happened 3 times that I waited on hold for over 10 minutes and then had to hang up and call back to be told "sorry we forgot"). After 2 years of mediocre (at best) service from the staff and groomers, we will not be returning and are now looking for a new place to bring our dog for veterinary and grooming services.

I have been using Dakota vet for many years. The staff truly care about our pets!!! Dr. Bartley is simply amazing and provides excellent care of all 4 of my dogs. Catherine is always welcoming and makes a great first impression! I recommend them to everyone I know with pets!

I have a little puppy and we are pretty new to this area. I chose this hospital because of its location, it's very close to my house. So far I am happy with this hospital except for the prices, it's not cheap there.

I have 4 dogs (had 5) and have been taking them to Dakota Veterinary for well over 10 years. I think the staff are wonderful and Dr. Bartley is simply incredible!! Each of them have their annual exam and required shots. Also each spring they have blood work done and get their tick and heartworm meds for the season. As well I have had to take each of them at different times for treatments, teeth cleaning, etc. So I have used this facility quite a bit. Katheryn the office manager is wonderful! Professional, friendly and very knowledgable. I primarily use Dr. Bartley and have always found her to be fantastic. She is friendly, professional, very knowledgeable and truly cares about my dogs. She GETS that my boys are so much more than pets to me and accommodates my worries and concerns with patience, knowledge and clear understandable explanations and care plans. We had taken our dogs there for 10 years+. When we saw Dr. Bartley we were always pleased. Last year it became increasingly difficult to see Dr. Bartley and were passed on to an associate who we were not happy with. She didn't see to know how to treat our dog and prescribed one medication after another with no success. After over $350 in different meds, we did our own research, changed foods, and problem solved. We have now switched vets.

I have been taking my dog here for a year now and we have both received very good service. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The vet technicians and the doctors are all very through when talking about pet health care and they always take the time to answer any questions I have about keeping my pet healthy. I highly recommend this location.

I have been bringing my two cats here for two years. I have been very happy with the service every time. Recently I needed to submit a petplan claim and they took care of getting together and faxing all the nessesary documents and got the claim approved. I would especially like to thank Cathrine for putting up with all my emails and really helping me. I will recommend them to anyone.

I was pleased with all the staff I met in my two visits here. The techs were professional and pleasant with me and more importantly, wonderful with my pup. All my questions were answered very clearly and I understood what next steps would be. Overall, staff were courteous, facilities were clean and comfortable, and my appt occurred at the time it was booked. I would recommend this vet to others (and I've been to a few...).

We moved to Winnipeg and thought we'd give this clinic a try. I was so impressed with my first visit that we've decided stay with them. I've had occasion to take my dog there now 3 times. The office staff, technicians and doctors were all very polite, caring and professional. My visits were for minor issues so far. I felt very comfortable with their diagnostic process and treatment. The doctor took the time to patiently answer all my questions and concerns. My dog sometimes gets quite nervous when in strange places with strangers - they were very understanding and let me hold (restrain) my dog myself (my way) while the doctor examined him. They explained they wanted to allow my dog to be "in his comfort zone anyway possible". The doctor even phoned us a week later to see how our dog was doing. The prices they've charged me each visit were always a surprise. Lower than I expected each time! (I hope they don't read this an up their rates!!!)

I am always very happy with the excellent handling, diagnosis, treatment and after care with Dakota Veterinary Hospital. Drs. Bartley and Litchfield, Katherine, John and the rest of the staff go to great lengths to ensure that my dogs are always well cared for from start to finish. They are compassionate and kind and have terrific follow up care. From Barnaby and Newton,to Barnsley and Wilson, my dogs are always in gentle hands. I'm pretty particular about my dogs-I wouldn't trust them to just anybody. I would absolutely recommend Dakota Veterinary Hospital. -P.T.

I was thrilled to find this animal hospital in my neighborhood & Dr. Bartley was terrific. However after she bought the practice & expanded, I was asked not to take a $120 refund because she needed the $$ & I agreed.Then her prices shot up & staff became arrogant.One time,a vet was angry at something I said,then that same vet dropped a hyperdermic (sorry it slipped she said) onto my pet needle first (techie witness present) On another occasion a techie treated my pet too roughly & I requested an anti-inflammmatory. I was told sorry, no vets there,just herself & the recept.This was close to Xmas about 2pm mid week.The sign says Veterinary Hospital.Why am I charged full Vet rates when no Vet attends? It is a widespread practice in Wpg. These events were in 2009 & 10.I was a good client & should have been treated like one. I wish I could use this handy clinic but after these experiences I just can't bring myself to do so & it still rankles. Also, full service should include a full lab.

I started going to this clinic 3 years ago after moving to the city and they have always been great. Dr. Bartley is so kind and is more than willing to stay and answer any questions and concerns you have. I have never had any worries about bringing my pets there. She will always offer many options for treatment (including cheaper ones!) and ensure your pet is getting the best care. I have never had any problem with the receptionists, they have always been kind and helpful as well. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to go in Winnipeg.

Dr. Bartley is fabulous. We ave taken our 2 rescue dogs to her for multiple health issues & operations for the last 4 yrs & wouldn't dream of going elsewhere. She has personally phoned many times to follow up on how a treatment was working. She once kept the clinic open for us to treat our dog who was bleeding badly when we phoned 5 mins before closing time. She has advised us on our dogs allergies, home cooked food, dislocated knees and orthopedics, exercises and physio, and saved us money countless times by recommending alternative medication and how to provide home medical care to our dogs instead of staying overnite in the hospital. She always gives options and their cost and has cut us a price break numerous times. She has a qualified animal physiotherapist in the clinic who has helped our dog a lot. The receptionist is caring, efficient and kind to the animals. We have dealt with her hundreds of times and she has been very helpful and pleasant.Highest respect for Dr. B.

Dr. Bartly is amazing. She really cares about her furry patients and always goes the extra mile with follow up phone calls to see if everything is okay. The staff there is outstanding. I would not even consider taking my two dogs anywhere else for care.

Our 2 dogs love Dr. Ruhlen and they are always happy to go and visit her. All the techs are friendly and so helpful, and our dogs have no worries when we approach the building. As a matter of fact, they wait (tails wagging) for their treat!

I really appreciate most of the staff at Dakota, however their receptionist leaves much to be desired. She rarely looks up to greet us when we come in, and I don't think I have ever seen her smile. I have to wait in the lobby even though there were empty rooms simply because she was "busy" with something else. We love the care we get from Dr Ruhlen and all the techs, but they really need a new receptionist before this one starts costing them patients ( if it hasn't already.

The clinic it's self seems to be well run and stocked; however I went for a simple nail trim to the tune of $25 and two people pinning my 20 pound dog. Most vet's in the area charge $20 max for nail trim and the staff are much more curteous.

i brought my puppy in for his vaccinations and first check up. Dr Bartley was great, answered all my questions. My pup had a rash, she gave me some cream and called me herself a few days later to make sure he was doing ok. that impressed me. I've heard of bad places before, but this ones seems great. The receptionist also answered all my question and everyone seemed very nice and knowledgeable.
