first came to the clinic as my regular one on Bowen Island had a 3 month wait for vaccines. I got an appointment here right away. I have worked for vets myself and can say with an honest opinion that Dr.MacDonald is top notch. I am thrilled I was inadvertently directed here. He is an extremely thorough doctor, he is very calm and gentle with the animals and that is priceless when one has a dogs with issues. He doesn’t have an ego to throw around, he doesn’t add on miscellaneous unnecessary charges, he’s just a down to earth old fashioned animal doctor. His rates are, actually I think he undercharged me.

Unlike the previous reviewer, I very much like Dr.Polderman as well as his kind young partner. Dr.Polderman is very experienced and brilliant at diagnosing illnesses. 3 years ago, we had a very sick dog for an entire year. Our original vet could not find at all what was wrong with him. My husband said we must get another opinion. So, we went to Dr.Polderman and within minutes he told us what our dog had and he has been on medication since and is totally well again. Our second dog has had a few problems with allergies and joint problems and again, Dr.Polderman diagnosed her within minutes and found the appropriate treatment/remedies. He has never asked us to do any tests or other wastes of money. He is very skilled and honest and knows of many old-fashioned remedies which are so effective. I am so thankful for having found him and
don't care if he is overly friendly or not, he is an outstanding veterinarian and I think his personality is just fine.

The male Dr. is not friendly at all and tends to look on the negative side of any diagnosis. His partner, has a better attitude.
