Click to report rating    8/31/19   1     2     2     1   I agree my cat was inappropriately treated in the ER. Dr. Caitlin Barry-Heffernon was clueless. My cat had surgery at Blue Pearl on Monday and started seizing on Thursday. Dr. Barry-Heffernon started him on valium (he was already on a low dose of morphine), then went to phenobarbytal because this is what helped her cats seizures at home. I asked her to stop the respitory suppressants and then he coded. I signed a DO recessitate but she came running out and asking if I wanted him put down. I just spend $5000 on surgery and she was giving him so many medications that she almost killed him. Revived, she then was clueless as to what to do to control the seizures. Keppra was the answer and put him in a drug induced state for 12-24 hrs. Again she was clueless (it was from the surgery 3 days ago at Blue Pearl). She was completely gun ho on putting him down - repeatedly when there was a standard protocol. Instead she recommended euthanizing. I followed her wrongful advise. Awful. RID: 68512
Click to report rating    12/7/15   4     4     1     1   My cat suffered terribly for the last week of his life and I was left with no call/follow up - nothing from their company. (I'm filing a formal complaint with The Michigan State Board of Veterinary Medicine regarding Blue Pearl's oncologist Dr. Erik Bulakowski's negligence toward my animal.) After being diagnosed with lymphoma, my cat was treated by Dr. Bulakowski Tuesday, and sent home. By Saturday, my cat was vomiting blood. Brought in, the doctors (not oncologists) treated him & diagnosed him with an ulcer. He was given 5 medicines a day for ulcer and appetite stimulant. But his health continued to decline. NO CALLS FROM BULAKOWSKI or oncologists from Blue Pearl. By Saturday, admitted my cat to an emergency vets where he was given transfusions and fluids. They couldn't save him. He was euthanized Tuesday. Negligence on the part of Bulakowski at Blue Pearl is what killed my cat. Not kidney failure! NEVER AGAIN WITH THE ONCOLOGISTS, NEVER AGAIN WITH BLUE PEARL. RID: 59196
