Mainly this is a complaint about the oncology department, and Dr. Erin Arnold in particular. Dr. Arnold's carelessness and questionable motivations in the treatment of my dog for lymphoma resulted in his excruciating death of progressive suffocation caused by pulmonary fibrosis, spending his last 48 hours locked up in a tiny oxygen chamber where the VRCC ER vets could not give a definite diagnosis and which cost thousands of dollars in addition to the thousands and thousands spent on his chemotherapy. It was that very chemotherapy that killed him. Dr. Arnold chose a risky, not-fully-approved drug, called Tanovea, to treat my dog's relapsed lymphoma. She did not tell me that there was a risk of developing pulmonary fibrosis from Tanovea. She combined the use of Tanovea with other chemo agents that are not verified as safe to use with Tanovea. When presented with necropsy results showing damage to lungs from chemo, she denied the possibility of any link to Tanovea. Unacceptable.
