Took my cat in, who normally takes shots well (3 vets, two provinces). In each case, she hisses once and that's it. This time, they used a dull needle. The cat screamed in pain, which was erroneously dismissed as "nerves".
This is not normal Siamese vocalizing - it was a scream. Sometimes doctors miss, it happens. But then, they did it again and when this was raised to the vet she finally said, "Let's use a sharper needle. They also tried to refuse providing an updated rabies tag and sell an unnecessary sedative when the sharper needle rectified the issue.
I understand that COVID-19 means some cost cutting will be necessary, but if that extends into issues causing unnecessary pain gives me pause.
We called after to raise this issue again. They agreed to use a sharper needle next time - but I shouldn't have to ask. The office still kept attempting to shift the focus to the cat even though the needle was the issue. For the safety of our pets, we will not be returning to this ve
