I took my dog there to be neutered through the county program (paid the county, the county gave me a voucher). I had no problem when I was required to pay $63 additional for pain meds - seems high, but necessary. However, I asked if while he was under for the surgery, could they do a dental procedure (also totally willing to pay for that service, as well)? Yes, sure. They would do the service. But I had to pay for the gas to put him under! What? The county voucher was covering that already!! I'm so sick of these vets. There was NO REASON that the dental services couldn't be done while he was under for the neuter. They just want to pay for their fancy facilities and take plenty of days off. That is called double dipping. The County already covers their cost for the gas. What a racket. I'm still looking for a good vet north of Phoenix that is fair and reasonable. (This vet cheated themselves out of SEVEN new patients!)
