MONEY GRUBBERS. I had my two dogs seen by the vet for skin issues. The vet recommended my dog be put on Brevecto. I was supposed to pick it up that day but because of a financial pinch I was in I had to put it off two weeks. I came back to pick it up and the receptionist told me that I had to pay AGAIN for a wellness visit in order to get the Brevecto!!! She tried telling me it was the law and when I called her on that she said " Well, its an ethical issue" I dont understand how it could an ethical issue when the vet prescribed it to me for my dogs! BUNCH OF MONEY GRUBBERS ( Vets were nice) but I will be taking my business elsewhere.

This place has always taken the time to answer my questions. They great me when I walk in by name as well as my pet. The staff has been there forever. I pretty much pay the same amt of $$ now as I did in 2009 which shows they are not all about the $. I've had many medical issues with multiple pets and wouldn't trust their care to anyone else.

LOVE THEM! I am very happy to have found this vet. Dr. VanNess is fabulous as are the other vets. The staff is personable and my cat is very comfortable there!

I have been going here for years. I love the staff and the practice. They may be a bit more expensive than other places but in my opinion they are worth it. The vets always take the time to answer any questions that I have about my pet and the support staff has been there for a really long time. It is nice to walk into a practice and be recognized without having to tell them who I am!

We have had at best mixed support from Edgefield for several years. But this recent incident has me looking for a new practice. One of our cats is diabetic and on Vetsulin, which is being recalled. Edgefield called us with the warning which is appreciated. They will no longer provide it. They will provide a $100/vial substitute or I can buy human insulin. I asked what kind of insulin to buy, and the front desk person said any kind. I asked what the dosage would be, she said, oh probably the same. Sounds like malpractice to me. My research is showing me that picking insulin is something best guided by a doctor. In general, this is a very expensive vet. They are after your cash and don't seem particularly interested in animal care.

I would not recommend these vets. I used them for yrs, but when my dog had major emergency surgery and was sent here for day care, as a precaution. They were supposed to monitor carefully and insert an IV. I showed up unannounced and found my dog on an ice cold floor, alone in a back room, laying in urine. NO IV inserted after being there for over 4 hours. I was very upset, since I had brought brand new bedding with him when I brought him straight from the ER,and the IV receptor was already in place from the ER. All they had to do was insert the IV liquids tube. I was told he wasn't their only client, they hadn't had time yet to do the IV and they didn't put the bedding down because he might pee it. SO? Better to have him on an ice cold floor, lying in his own urine?! I decided to bring him home with me. Better off in my care. I was yelled at for being upset and handed a bill for day care for over $140. FOR WHAT???? I told them it was the last money they would see from me and it was!

We've been taking our dogs and cats to Dr. Barnes for several years and have been very pleased with their care. He and his staff have always gone the extra mile for us when our dogs have needed it. We recommend him highly.

Outdated equipment, staff burned out and now venture to grabbing the $$$ instead of ethical & compassionate treatment of your pet. Question & request copies of records, don't let any smiles fool you!

Dr. Barnes and staff are the best care givers you could ever trust your pets to. They are caring, compassionate and knowledgable professionals who treat each animal in their care as if it were there own pet. Their facility is spotless and well maintained. I have been taking my cats to Edgefiled for over 7 years now and wouldn't trust their care to anyone else. They are a tad one the pricey side but worth every penny. If you want top notch care for your pets you can't go wrong taking your pets to Dr. Barnes and staff.
