I was generally very satisfied with Deer Run's facilities, staff and services. My unfortunate first experience with this veterinary clinic was on a weekend to euthanize my 16 year-old Shepherd-Husky. Our desire was to have her remains cremated and returned to us in a decorative urn. BEWARE: Please research other vet's prices for similar services. My regular vet--Sycamore Veterinary Hospital--charges almost $80.00 less than Deer Run for the exact same cremation, using the same crematory company in Amelia!

As a person involved in dog shows, I do not tolerate sub-standard treatment. My dog went in for OFA testing, they charged me for a test that I didn't as for, then they had no clue how to send off the thyroid information. My dog also had a tail injury that was healing just fine on its own, I asked them for a medication to speed the hair growth in the area, they gave me a medication that caused hair loss. Needless to say, I am extremely displeased and am looking elsewhere for a suitable vet that meets my needs. Especially now since my dog is currently unshowable for their inaccurate information with the medication causing hair loss.

The technicans seemed to be very knowlegeable, but the veterinarian didn't seem to know what was going on. I adopted a dog from an animal shelter and brought her here for her first visit. She got vaccines, a heartworm test, heartworm prevention and flea and tick prevention. I had to argue with the vet about a medication that she was trying to sell me. She told me that Interceptor would kill fleas on my dog. When she went to get the box to shove it in my face to show me I was wrong, she then realized that she was wrong and still didn't apologize. This vet also diagnosed my dog with Kennel Cough and was not concerned about keeping other patients from being infected as she sent me back out through a waiting room full of healthy dogs. Needless to say I didn't go back there and wouldn't reccommend that you do.

This place is very clean however I would not recommend. Very high priced ($115 for a microchip) They also gave my cat a 2nd rabies shot after I provided papers showing she already had her shot. (they charged me also) The vets also push Science Diet, which every pet owner knows is trash food. The vets also suggest very shady training ways (kicking dogs, kneeing them in the chest...my vet said he had his dog relieving itself on itself after the dog snapped at him!!) The front desk people are nice and friendly but seem to not really know what is going on. (asking ME what my pets were there for...well look at my info!) After being told they charge $115 for a microchipping I decided to look elsewhere...
