My 10-year-old cat died in this clinic's care following a routinely scheduled dental cleaning in February of 2020.
Prior to the procedure, over a period of several years, I had raised concerns about the risks of dental cleaning, since the cat had responded poorly to anesthetic once in the past. Each time, my concerns were dismissed. I have multiple email threads with the business about my concerns, and I had multiple conversations with the vet about why I was worried. I was always told that everything would be fine.
The dental cleaning was scheduled following the vet's ongoing, strong recommendation. He insisted that dental cleaning would improve the cat's quality of life by reducing the cat's gum inflammation and irritation. Unfortunately, as I feared, the cat died.
Just to emphasize what happened: I brought in my cat for a routine dental cleaning at the recommendation of this vet, and my cat then died in their care the day following the procedure.

They almost killed my dog. They didn’t monitor her properly during surgery causing acute kidney damage. Her lifespan is now significantly shortened. They are always short staffed. So beware when taking your beloved family member there for care.

Worst experience. Receptionnist has some serious attitude problem, so does most of the staff. Extremely overpriced. Paying over 500$ everytime. I am suprised they dont charge you for parking you car in the entrance. I defibitely do not recommend this vet.

I had to wait forever for my appointment. The receptionist was rude and needs a serious attitude adjustment. The practice manager would rather "chat" with clients than do any actual work. The vet was friendly but he has the most horrible staff. Prices are outrageous. It's also a small place. They can't brag about their facilities. Go somewhere else if you care about your pets.

Dr Foster is a wonderful vet and very knowledgeable about cat pathology. My cat has lymphoma. I would not want to take my cat to any vet other than Dr Foster.

I've been taking my pooch to this clinic for 2 years. Dr. Foster is a scientist at heart. He is committed to continuing education and it's evident that he's abreast of new developments. I've been to many vets, and Dr. Foster is absolutely at the top of that list with respect to his scientific/veterinary knowledge. Cons: while the clinic is expensive, to be fair, it's on par with other clinics I've been to in the T.O. area. I can't say this clinic is outrageously costly or that the staff pressure you to pursue unnecessary tests. Dr. Foster will give recommendations, but he always considers your finances. The only issue I've had is that the clinic will often do tests as part of a diagnosis that were not explicitly discussed. Your bill will list tests that you agreed to plus some extra items that they bundle as "part of the diagnosis." The way to deal with this is to be very clear about exactly which tests you are and are NOT getting and carefully check your bill before you leave.

My cat has been a patient at this vet's for several years. I have only good things to say about Dr. Foster. He is very knowledgeable and through. I have always been impressed with the care he has given my cat ( who now has cancer).

A truly pleasureable experience. My dog has always been difficult to handle at the vet. I have been told he needs to be sedated for everthing. I took my dog here because of the recommendation of a friend. I was extremely impressed with the professionalism of both Dr. Foster and his staff. My dog had a great experience at the vet for the first time in 4 years. The clinic is spotless even though there was a lot of activity. I would definately recommend to anyone looking for quality veterinary care!

This vet is completely money driven. He orders tests instead of using his clinical judgement. I took at least five cats to him over the years because I didn't know better. After moving I realized that his niceness facade was all about taking care of the owners not the cats. He misdiagnosed three cats and I only found out after taking them to a specialist. Those people he has coming in own machines and they can't interpret those test results correctly so that when he does the teleconferencing thing with the specialists they are relying on the wrong information. He is an expert at making the owners feel good but he really is a lousy vet. Do yourselves a favour take your animals to specialists when you have a problem. They end up being cheaper than paying him and the pets get better care. Pray your pets don't really get sick because you're in for a terrible ride with him.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Foster and his team. I think he is exceptional when it comes to cat knowledge and I have never met a vet who calls you on Saturday night at 9:30 pm and Sunday night at 9:30 pm to let you know how your pet is doing,(my cat had surgery on Friday morning). Dr. Foster is by far the best vet in the city and absolutely wonderful. He kept us informed all weekend of the cat's progress. I would never go anywhere else. His staff is compassionate, competent and very professional. Here is to you Dr. Foster and your team! He is worth every penny.

I took my cat here for 6 years for his vaccination. Last year he got sick so I took him and the Dr. Foster told me what his assumptions are and that it would be better to put him to sleep instead of spending money on tests. I have decided to spend the money. I was not willing to give up on my cat until I hade some answers. After spending soooooo much money they did not even know what was wrong with my cat. There was so much that happened. Dr. Foster was very rude. They would not even return my calls, nor did they call me when results came in. I had to go there to get them. Anyway, I ended up taking my results and going to another vet clinic where I got my answers. Unfortinatelly I did end up letting my cat go but I did have couple of more months with him.

Dr. Foster and the staff at Davenport Road Animal Hospital are amazing! We have taken three of our dogs to this clinic and have always gotten excellent care. They do recommend tests on a routine basis but our experience has show that the procedures and surgeries have been necessary to get to the bottom of things. Great hours and always willing to see you in an emergency. Our dog LOVES going to see Dr. Foster and his team however, we had to change vets because of the costs. They have always been on the pricey side which we happily paid because it was worth every cent but in recent years the rates have increased by sometimes 20% anuually and doubles most other clinics. If money is not an issue take your dog or cat to this clinic. Dr. Foster keeps on top of the latest issue and is great with animals.

Dr. Foster is extraordinary! I moved away from Toronto so I no longer see him, but this vet taught me so much about cats through the years. He is fantastic at diagnosing illnesses, it's like he has a sixth sense about it. Yes, comfort for your pets costs, but I used to pick up my cat from his office after a treatment, and she did not seem stressed about it at all. And she is a temperamental, calico rescue. I would recommend him to any of my friends.

Our cats have been seeing Dr. Foster for 11 years. As they are getting older, he is focusing more on diagnostic tests to detect disease early - this is getting expensive, but it seems more worthwhile than waiting until our cats start acting sick. The clinic is spotless. The staff is excellent. I rarely am kept waiting too long for an appointment. My only real gripe is that one of our cats is "difficult" to put it lightly and so the clinic does not accept her on days when the head vet tech is not there - but that's the cat's fault really (she is extremely difficult to handle). Anyway, I totally trust the vet's skill and judgment. He accurately guessed that our difficult one had asthma when we complained of excessive hairball coughing and helped our other one - the angel - overcome problems he had early in life caused by malnutrition and an underprivileged childhood.

This is a *wonderful* vet in terms of his clinical skills - and his senior staffer is also excellent and adds a personal touch (and competence) to the front desk( which is sometimes missing). However, the prices are *outrageous.* In my experience, they will often order tests which are not necessary or conservative in approach. They do not take the clients' income into account and it would appear that they are gearing towards the more wealthier clients (which I suppose makes sense geographically if you look at the location). I recently left them, not because I was dissatisfied with the clinical care my dog was receiving, but because I could not afford even their follow-up care after a problem had been diagnosed with my dog. Unlike other vet clinics, they do not charge simply 'recheck' fees, but rather the full price. And although it was not clinically warranted, they wanted to repeat expensive tests. When they insisted it was "policy" that the tests be repeated, I changed clinics. :-(

We've taken our puppy here for her first year of health. The vet is very friendly and takes the time to speak with you and answer any of your questions. This often means that he is behind schedule. Though I don't have much to compare it to, I think that perhaps it is a little expensive, but there is only one vet in the entire facility, which is nice. We are getting our dog spayed soon, but probably won't be having it done here based on priced. I trust the vet completely with the dog's health.
