I really like Dr. Spitz a lot. He has excellent pet-side manner. He's funny and charming and brilliant. He tells me out loud the reasoning, the different directions it could go, what his ultimate opinion is. I also like the staff, mostly--but I go there for the doctor. My dog really likes it there as well. I never have to pull her up the stairs. The clinic is an old house, and has that freedom feel that old Austin houses with the hardwood floors and built-in stuff have. As soon as you walk in you are overtaken by the warm atmosphere. Pet owners are talking to one another, their pets become quick friends, and often there is a kitty or 2 waiting for you to adopt them. The only thing bad, is the $$$$. I keep going back because, really, everything there is exceptional and I guess I'm willing to pay the price (although I hate that part). Highly recommended, especially if you have $$$$.

I've worked with several vets at LABAH. I have been overcharged, and have had unnecessary, expensive testing performed (sometimes without my permission). I strongly suggest taking your pets elsewhere if you want honest and affordable treatment.

We had a horrible experience with Dr. Spitz and his staff in Nov. 2006. Unnecessarily aggressive care on the part of Dr. Spitz. Poor customer service on the part of Dr. Spitz and his staff. Uncaring attitude on the part of Dr. Spitz and his staff. Poor after-care follow-up on the part of Dr. Spitz. No response from Dr. Spitz when we wrote to him to let him know of our experience/concerns/complaints.

Dr. Rob Spitz is, in my opinion, the best vet in Austin. I spent years trying to find an ethical, animal-centered vet and finally made it to Dr. Spitz. My only complaint is that it's quite a drive to my house, but I'm willing to make it.

Extended hours (7am - 9pm on weekdays, 9-4 on Saturdays), compassionate staff, knowledgable doctors, loving environment
