The surgery was estimated $600-$700, which would be covered by our previous vet who did the declawing. Not only was the vet incorrect (which is understandable, it happens sometimes!), but they continued with the surgery even when they knew he didn't need it anymore. And did so without giving us a call. They charged us $600 for absolutely nothing, they didn't do any surgery. He was still given anesthesia and they only took an xray. It was an absolutely mess. Made me think, if he had actually had the surgery: what would they have charged?! The original estimate was what they charged WITHOUT doing anything. Make sure they're charging you correctly, and make it clear that if they decide otherwise; contact you for permission first. RID: 69114
Click to report rating    4/22/19   4     5     5     4   had canine care here for 10 yr's and although i am a budget conscious customer, i do feel i've gotten fair value over this period for veterinary service's. it's good to be informed when visiting but the Vets' do take a genuine amount of time to see the animal which is beneficial. you will be in good hands so that is never in question. only tidbits i would request is that water be available in the waiting rooms instead of asking for a bowl. it's always provided with ease but would be nice if room was already staged with fresh water. the waiting lounge could also be policed slightly more when aggressive dog's are trying to bite other animal's. i shouldn't always be the owner's who have this responsibility. i think if reception cautioned an owner that they are aware of an animal's aggressive tendencies then there wouldn't be case's of possible injury to a calm animal. myself and other owner's would applaud the staff for supervising this type of circumstance when it's evidently necessary. Click to report rating    5/23/17   5     5     5     5   The care that these vets and their staff have for my pets, their expertise, their willingness to go above and beyond is amazing. I have used this clinic for years and continue to do so even though they are well out of my geographical area because of the outstanding service that they provide. RID: 63709
Click to report rating    8/25/15   5     1     5     1   About 6 years ago my dog had the have surgery in both legs and after spending in excess of $4000 and the dog should have been good for life; he has to have surgery again as the first time Kingsdale did not use the proper materials. Also this new vet in Toronto is charging half of the fee. Although they were great with our pet they are a money makine machine. So I would not recommend them. RID: 58166
Click to report rating    8/15/15   5     5     5     4   I've been going to Kingsdale for about 10 years now and have referred several others to them. The vets there are very friendly and professional and always explain things very well. They take their time with my pets and seem to genuinely care about all their client's pets. The facility is also very clean throughout. I would recommend them to everyone. RID: 58057

Click to report rating    7/11/14   1     4     4     1   My dog had surgery done on it's leg, she was limping when she went in. When I picked her up, she couldn't even move her leg anymore. They suggest euthanizing her or they said I could try the University of Guelph, but there was no guarantee. I did take her there and they re-did the operation and she was fine after recuperation. I had to pay for both operations. RID: 52510
Click to report rating    4/25/14   2     3     1     1   My husband's family and pets have gone here for years so when we got a pet, going to Kingsdale was a "no brainer". However, we have found them VERY expensive and have been meaning to go elsewhere and save some money for quite some time. We finally made the move to a new clinic that treats our little girl VERY well and they are very reasonably priced. No regrets. I also have to mention that I was a bit taken aback when I decided not to take my dog in for screening for parasites. She is on Sentinel 12 months of the year and I found the screening unnecesary because she is protected year round. I was told "that is o.k. but just make sure you give her the Sentinel on the SAME day every month because if you don't she could die!!" Will never forget that. Thank goodness we found a new place to take our little girl!! RID: 51242
Click to report rating    2/26/14   5     5     5     5   I have been using Kingsdale for 9 years now and wouldn't go anywhere else. My dog has issues resulting from her past before I adopted her and all the vets and staff there are great with her. I would disagree with the comments below regarding them overpricing. I too am on a budget but when you have a pet you have to be willing to pay for medical attention for your animal - its called being a responsible pet owner. My dog now has arthritis and they have worked with me on finding something that will control the condition and make her comfortable whilst respecting my credit card. Don't have an animal if you aren't willing to pay for their medical care. RID: 50169
Click to report rating    1/25/14   5     5     5     5   I love Kingsdale Animal Hospital. I've been a client here for 19 years and I would never go any where else. A superior facility with knowledgeable doctors and a caring staff. RID: 49455
Click to report rating    11/9/13   5     5     5     5   Dr. Hinsberger is amazing, as is their staff. Their prices are very reasonable and always take the time to explain. Unlike my previous vet, they are very honest and don't up sell services. Highly recommended. RID: 48157
Click to report rating    4/19/13   5     5     5     3   Came from a different vet, and while I loved their treatment of our animals, they are more pricey. And while I was warned about their pricing, their attitudes and compassion was first rate. So I guess you get what you pay for. RID: 41880
Click to report rating    12/27/12   5     5     5     5   I recently moved to the area and a friend recommended Kingsdale. The vets there are great and the receptionists are friendly and always helpful. They are also cheaper than my last vet RID: 39254
12/17/12   2     3     2     1   warning to all clientel. VERY closely monitor your bill, and before getting any thing done have a second opinion from a different veterinary clinic. unnessiary testing, unnessisary surgery, and "fibs" on quantities and treatments given are made. Animals are not mistreated, but your wallet will be. RID: 39103
Click to report rating    7/29/12   5     5     5     5   The Vets and staff are the best ever kind and real.they truly love the animals and it shows. they saved my dog,s life.she had cancer in her front leg and it would have quickly spread to her lungs . The boarding is perfect when I return my Lady is in great shape happy and content. I recomend Kingsdale to everyone .LADY wags her tail so much when she sees the office and the gang there . Keep up the GREAT job guys. RID: 36141
Click to report rating    7/15/12   5     5     5     5   I have always found them to be honest and friendly. Their vets are good and definitely want the best for your pets. Highly recommended. RID: 35660
Click to report rating    7/5/12   5     4     3     4   I have gone here for years and appreciate the service I have received. The vet techs are nice, compassionate and professional. They know my dog by name and seem genuinely concerned for his welfare. Doctor Hinsperger has become my favourite doctor there. He has listened to my many questions, concerns, and I never feel like he is hurrying me out the door. He is always respectful, and though others might consider me a crazy doggy mommy, I never feel that way in his presence. Prices are reasonable compared to other Canadian cities in which I have lived. Click to report rating    5/16/11   5     5     1     1   Staff, Great. I had the feeling of paying high, or not at all. For neutering, there is only 1 available method - Laser. "Less pain, faster healing time, it’s all we offer” Sounds great, the bill however is not. Be sure to stand your ground, I went to get my 4 month old puppy neutered and ended up with teeth pulled, extra anaesthesia, and extra supplies. My neuter bill turned into a nightmare, WITHOUT a call for permission, at the end - I was stuck with the bill, until I read what the big bill was for I found out about the teeth pulling, etc. It took a consultation with the vet, who still did not want to rid me of the charges, UNTIL I mentioned a Malpractice lawsuit. I did not need to pay for the extras after this, but will never go back here. Be warned to all pet owners, don’t be taken. I’m sure this has happened to other clients, who would have caringly paid the service - I had a puppy who got his teeth pulled during a neuter - THEN charged for it, without ANY previous concerns RID: 25030
Click to report rating    3/25/11   5     5     4     5   I have a been a client at Kingsdale for many years and have always been very pleased with their abilities and the quality of care they provide. The receptionists are always friendly and make me feel welcome. I would highly recommend them RID: 23847
Click to report rating    1/17/11   5     5     4     1   We still go here - but they over charge. We have TOLD them we are on a limited budget. Yet they insist on bringing our cat in every 2 weeks - and charging us 250$ to have her stay for a "monitoring peroid" ... Such a rip off! We also had to pay 300$ to have a rotten tooth pulled... Found a different vet who would've done the same for about 60$. Such a rip off! But nice people. They just over-charge. RID: 22140
Click to report rating    3/4/09   5     5     5     4   I think Kingsdale is amazing and I would never switch or go elsewhere. Dr. Murfin, Dr. Clark, and Dr. Hinsperger are truly compassionate vets who care about their patients, and they have the technology and equipment to do so. The staff are great at offering different solutions, in a variety of price scales, to keep your pet happy and healthy for a long time. RID: 11951
Click to report rating    1/25/09   1     3     3     1   I was completely ripped off at this vet a number of years ago so I left and am now happy with another vet. AFter $400 in tests they were going to charge another $300+ to do dental surgery on my cat to have a 'rotten' tooth pulled. I was sceptical so I sought another opinion. The new vet pulled the tooth while I was in th office and charged me only $60!!...it was so rotten my cat didn't even react when he pulled it!! And Kingsdale was going to put my cat under and do 'surgery' to remove that tooth. That is not only a rip off, its incompetant! Stay away! RID: 11361
Click to report rating    1/21/09   5     5     5     5   I Strong recommend this Vet Clinic because their price is reasonable and doctors are responsibility to my dogs~ RID: 11312
Click to report rating    6/10/08   2     4     3     1   This clinic has the best of everything except Vets that truly care. Personally I beleive they think about the bank statement first. The technicians are good, facilities are good, punctuality is average. Doctor care is not personable. Pricing is extremely high and are always suggesting or offering additional extras. Will not go back! RID: 8815
