My mom recommended me to Wayne Heights and they've been good. My dogs never have a problem and we enjoy our visits.

They are truly wonderful here, we are treated like a part of their family. We even refer to our pets as "kids". There's even been times when the staff has called us after a surgery to see how my pets are doing.

I am highly disappointed in all of the negative reviews I see here! I have NEVER had such a wonderful veterinarian. I request Dr. Barnes (the female Dr. Barnes) every time that I have to take my cat in. She is a bit ferocious when she can smell other cats. She never actually bites or uses claws, but howls like a banshee and has scared every single vet she has been to as a result. Dr. Barnes literally just reached in and pulled her out with no fear. I have never seen my cat react so calmly to a veterinarian as she did after that! I also want to comment that they do low cost spay/neuter through the local humane society every other month, so I doubt they are lining their pockets. Also, a family friend's dog who had to be euthanized due to an extreme neurological disease was taken to Wayne Heights and they were WONDERFUL with him! I love this vet and recommend them to everyone I know!

I don't know this vet, but I want to respond to the bad reviews... First the pug that passed awas (very sorry by the way).>>BUT, you have a vet within 2 minutes and you choose to drive 45 minutes away to your "regular vet." Then you expect someone who isn't your regular vet to drop everything and see you as an emergency. You should have planned better for such an emergency and had a vet closer to home to help you out. Second--the knee surgery. There are many kinds of knee surgery that can be done. I haven't heard of any one for $750. Maybe the $3000 was for state of the art surgery by a board certified surgeon and the $750 was for any regular vet without special training??? BIGGGGG difference you know.

I had an emergency. My Pug "Fancy" was having trouble giving birth. She had one puppy, the second was still born and I knew another was coming but it wasn't near the birth canal. Fancy was becoming listless and lathargic. I explained to Sandy the rude woman who answered the phone that even though they were not my regular vet, this was an emergency and she needed to be seen right away. Explaining they are only 2 minutes away versus driving to my regular vet 40 minutes away. She very rudely told me they only had 2 doctors in the office today and with a huff put me on hold. She came back on the line and told me they couldn't see her and take her to my regular vet. I immediatley called Park Circle in Hagerstown,MD and explained the situation and got another rude woman saying with a huff "OK, I guess bring her in." Upon walking in the office they said " just have a seat". I sat there in the waiting room with Fancy lying in pain and shaking. She died 5 minutes later.

My Rott has a torn ligament in her knee, and I was referred to a specialty surgical unit thirty miles away at a cost of $3,000. There is another vet in town who does this same surgery, but doesn't pay a referral fee on a surgical cost of $750 for the same procedure. For a vet to line their pockets on the suffering of animals and their humans is unforgivable. If there were a board to report them to, I would. I never got the impression that they were "animal lovers" since Dwight Ridenhour sold the practice, and now I'm convinced. Thankfully, I'm not the only one who's left.
