Had a bad emergency experience with this establishment. These people's first and foremost priority is to make money, and lots of it. They will use your emotional state to capitalize on that. They showed no compassion for my pet or us.

I have had very good experiences with this practice until recently. The more experienced vets seem to have left the practice, and it is very apparent that dollars are much more important to them now than appropriate treatment. The doctor we always saw retired. We visited for an ongoing eye issue that one of my diabtic dogs has experienced for the past year or so. The new doctor did the exact same treatment as the previous one; however, the charges were doubled (~$550). Then I was told that the treatment didn't work, and a different treatment was recommended that would cost $1200 and, if that didn't work, another treatment would be necessary that would cost in excess of that amount. Again, this problem was treated by the now retired vet for approximately $250. The excuse given was the difference in medication preferences by the new vet.
Stay away from this place if possible. Unfortunately, there is a real shortage of veterinary specialists in the Charlotte area, so it can be

My cat had reoccurring issues of sinus inflammation and he wasn't eating. (his nose was stuffed, so he couldn't smell his food, so he wouldn't eat) After not eating for 3 days I finally took him to CVS. This was a Saturday. The cats vet wasn't on duty til Monday. The vet on duty said he was gonna nebulize him even after I told him several times that that wouldn't help and he just needed to clear out his nose. He insisted the best was to nebulize!! So after leaving the cat there over the weekend getting nebulized, he STILL wasn't eating. Monday comes along and dr. schaffer says, oh, he needs to have his nose cleared!! :o If they had just called her over the weekend, I could've saved a lot of money and stress!! Mind you, I don't have a problem with the expensive bill, my animals are worth it, but I felt I was ripped off. If they had looked at my cats file, they would've seen nebulizing wasn't doing the job!!

The doctors at Carolina Veterinary Specialists in Matthews have been awesome! My dog, Brandy, was seen by an ER doctor as well as an internal medicine specialists. The doctors and staff were always so kind, and provided me with options each step of the way. Eventually we decided it was best to euthanize Brandy, but I will never forget the care and compassion everyone there showed. They treated Brandy well and provided great medical care up until the time we had to say goodbye. Thank you so much!

I saw Dr. Peter Brofman with my paralyzed dog in January 2011. He was one of the neurosurgeons at CVS and I could not have asked for a more caring, intelligent, capable, and sympathetic doctor to care for my little boy. Dr. Brofman made sure I understood all of my options, our expectations, and helped me decide what was best for both me and my little boy. He never made it about money, but was also aware that there is significant cost associated with spinal surgery and made sure I knew all of my medical and surgical options available. Hopefully you never need to see Dr. Brofman, but if you do you will be in excellent hands!

I traveled to gthis facility as my bird was injured on a wkend. Otherwise I wld have used my reg vet. Lauren Powers is supposed to be Avian Cert. & I found no expertise exhibited. She diagnosed bone breaks she could not fine on xray. Notes bleeding tha began after exam manipulation. She put a feeding tube either in the wrong plc or left it too long as on autopsy it was found in the esophagus leading to stom. I believe it migrated bcause it was left too long, when I saw black stools, called, she said to watch. Last 2 or 3 feedings seemed to hurt him & he stumbled.Did not show concern. He died,I was forcing a large amt of food into stom, whereas you put a lg amt into crop and it moves small amts to stom. SLOWLY. Stom is small. Also a full 12 hrs of pain med went into his stom at bed time that should have gone to the crop. He died the next morning & on autopsy, his intestines were full of blood. Injury was 5 days healed, stomach was plugged by tube, no blood could pass,he got no water either
