Dr. Arnault has no compassion , he took 3 appointments to let me know my cat was dying after he had done 800$ of testing, all this time I thought my cat had a heart condition and had to be on meds for life. And I had to ask him, it never came from him.

Doctor allan gilmour is a vet guru. His insight and personal interaction with both animal and humans make this the place to get to if a vet is needed. I have a Westie living in the mountains who finds trouble all the time. The doc knows and cures always. Thank you

this vet had my cat on different antibiotics for digestive issues for over a year. it cost a fortune, and my cat did not get better. the same antibiotics were tried more than once, after not having worked the first time due to bad record keeping. we left after the vet told us there was no other option than a very expensive biopsy. after 1 or 2 visits at another clinic (the one on monkland), a new vet had identified our cat's issue, changed the food, stopped the antibiotics treatment, and the cat has been fine ever since (2 years).

In terms of veterinary care, the animal health clinic has been great to us. However, after my dog's spay surgery, I was sent home with four syringes for pain medication, and was told to give my dog one per day for four days. She started having severe diarrhea and I thought this was strange as it continued into day 2. I checked the prescription more closely and did some research, only to discover that EACH dose of medication was FOUR TIMES the maximum dose for her size. Upon contacting the vet surgeon, Dr. Alex, in the middle of the night on Sunday, he was so gracious as to respond immediately and offer me a morning consultation and a free blood test. Thank goodness, the results were fine, but had I not noticed the incorrectly measured dosage, according to clinical studies this medication could have permanently damaged my dog's kidneys or even killed her, especially as she is still a baby.

Horrible experience. Dr. Katie McKay lacks empathy and only thinks of profit. She neglected that I KNOW my dog and what he needed. I went in because he is suffering from arthritis and needed pain management - what that entailed to her was blood work, x rays, and multiple medication. When I refused some of the medication she told the other staff members I had a problem with money.
She was rough and uncaring with my elder dog. Because of her I will no longer go take any of my animals there.

I have been going to the Animal Health Clinic for years. First with my dog and now with my two cats. The staff and doctors are very friendly and well informed. They take the time to explain procedures and tests and why they are required or if they are required. Dr. Gilmour is amazing and you can tell he truly loves animals. I highly recommend this vet clinic to anyone who cares about their pets. It's not the cheapest vet but definitely not an expensive one and they always try to accommodate. Worth every penny.

Dr. Alan Gilmore is awesome. So is Dr. Elkin Seto. Over the years the care he has given my cats has been exceptional, never extra expensive unnecessary stuff, super kind staff when each cat reached its end. Staff seems to be there for years - also a good sign. Had a stray handicapped cat, they went the extra yard for Tom, unbelievable care that extended his life by a decade, at a fraction of the cost because he was a special case (they charge me regular on the other cats, but it is still a fair price). Have sent many friends there, all happy. However there is a female vet there (2011) that guilted me into expensive awful treatments for my 15 yr old cat Lloyd with kidney failure. I only see Dr. Gilmore now. He euthanized Lloyd and told me I was doing the right thing. I recently saw photos of Lloyd in his last two weeks, he was clearly dying (I can see it clearer now). Each time later got a letter that a donation was made in Tom's (2009) and Lloyd's name to Guelph U.

The staff are wonderful, my cat's surgery went very well and they even did a checkup call! Wonderful clinic. Would definitely recommend.

I have 2 dogs, and I have had a very tough year. Both dogs have spent a lot of time at the clinic. Dr. Katy McKay has been a god sent, not only does she spend lots of time on the phone helping and reassuring me . She is very careful with what she charges me. One of my babies passed away 2 months ago. I will forever be grateful to the staff for there help and compassion.

There's always a surprise, and never a good one. Brought several cats in and always messed things up including having one of the new staffers practice shearing on my cat. The shaved her (18 years old) in the middle of winter! Misdiagnosed my males as having diabetes only to be told a few days later by another vet that no diabetes. He died in my arms a day later from insulin shock. Neither had told me how to treat him for insulin shock.

I have been bringing my cats to the Animal Health Clinic for 12 years. I've usually seen Dr. Gimore but lately have met with whomever was available. I felt the vets were all excellent on all counts. 1) Caring towards my cats 2) Took as much time as was required 3) Took the diagnosis process step by step, always making the costs clear 4) Prompt follow ups after tests 5) Excellent bedside manner,explaining everything in great detail. I also feel their fees are significantly better than other vet clinics I've been to. I have brought in strays as well to be treated and without even asking was offered a very generous discount. This has occured more than once. When my cat was dying of acute kidney failure the care he received was excellent from diagnosis to the end of his life. Dr. Gilmore even offered to come to my house to administer an emergency euthanasia if my cat suddenly took a turn for the worse and was suffering. Only good things to say about this clinic.

Basically my 9 month old dog died there because they did a poor job on her spaying, and also didnt do blood tests before spaying her. She died of kidney failure 5 days after her operation. I would not suggest to anyone. Oh and when they called me to let me know that she died, because she died there, they said over the phone: i have some slight bad news. And I said yes. Then the doctor said: I'm afraid ***** passed away this morning. Like... are you joking me? When I went to pick up my dead dog's body, they were talking to me about how much everything was going to cost me. They can go to hell.

I brought my dog to this vet after my own vet had no time to see me. My dog was diagnosed with kennel cough. The staff was attentive and the doctors were polite and caring. I have sitched my dog to this vet after the great care i received. I would reccomend them to everyone!

I wouldn't have put my dog's life into anyone else's hands but Dr. Gilmour's and his staff. And even though he is no longer with me, he had a very good death - gentle and painless

My beautiful 12 year old lab is in the last stages of her life. I have been to the AHC many times to see Dr. Seto with my concerns. He has always been more than kind and understanding, and when I start to weep I know that he understands my pain and does not rush me out of the examining room but lets me stay, and he stays with me. I do believe that he has a warm heart and is genuinely concerned for both the animal and the master. Thanks Elkin.

Dr. Gilmore is a great vet. He and his team saved my dog Crosby's life and charged me a tiny fraction of what those guys at DMV charge.

This is the second time I've brought an animal here with bad results. Two years ago my cat almost died in their care, and subsequently died because of thier inaction. I gave them a second chance because of one of thier vets constant attention to my cats case (not treating vet). I recently brougth my dog to be spayed and "somehow" her small intestine became twisted-50% of it was removed. She had to be picked up (by us) and moved to the DMV where thankfully they saved her...thousands of $$ later. The animal health clinic admitted that the twist must have happened while they moved her, but they still charged me 800$ for the surgeries! I am considering legal action. I would never trust them with another animal again!

I've been going there since it opened. I think Gilmore and Seto are the best. Most of the staff I've encountered over the years are great. The only problem may be their popularity! Sometimes the front staff gets overwhelmed by the volume of calls and drop-ins, best to go during a week day if possible.

Been going here for 10 years with my cats because it's on the corner. Facilities are good. However, I've seen the service and care go downhill over the past 4-5 years. And I especially get the impression that their "caring" is very fake. Lately they've made me feel like I was really bothering them when I brought one of my cats in who was really sick. I'd say this clinic is pretty average, like most I've been to.

I'm surprised at this clinic's rating, as I had many consecutive bad experiences here. For ex., when I brought in a 2-year old huskie from a rescue shelter who was so weak he could barely stand up, I was told the weakness was due to luxating patella in both hind legs. When I pointed out that the dog clearly had a paw injury, again I was told this was due to the LP. A few weeks later, another vet in the same clinic told me he could find no evidence at all of his colleague's LP diagnosis, but he didn't know what was wrong either. No blood test, no xrays, no nothing. Long story short, this was followed by several other contradictory diagnoses by other vets in the same clinic along with mistakes made when I insisted on xrays, then 2 diff vets suggested 2 diff diets(sold at their clinic) and there's no room here to detail all the other errors they made. Sadly, I think my experience reflects what veterinary medicine has become, a field which attracts very few caring and conscientious people.

When my 10 years old cat got sick while I was temporary broke, I called all the vets in the area to get help while my cat was suffering like hell. All were stiff and uncompromising, refusing to even hear the symptoms and requiring me to pass by and pay jaw dropping amount first.
Before he finally passed away in my arms, I found about Dr. Gilmore who without hesitation invited me in for the next day to look at my baby despite my current financial situation. Unfortunately it was too late by then, but even then and despite the rush at the clinic that morning, he met me and gently explained to me what had happen to my little boy.
At this place, the animal comes first. They don't do the work for free; medicine and care do cost money! But they are true and caring medical assitance and only charge the necessary to help your animal.
This is the Ste-Justine Hospital for pets. I will never ever go anywhere else..

Alan Gilmour and Elkin Seto are the best! I am a nurse and know quality of care when I see it. They had been following my moms cat Minky for years and both gave excellent quality of care consistently over years. Sadly we had to have the cat euthanized because of terminal disease. I look forward to bringing future pets to this clinic. The staff as well are very approachable. The medical care however is outstanding, the doctors treat the animals and the owners extremely well and have excellent communication skills. I know other people that go to that clinic as well and say the same. I highly recommend this clinic and the pricing is reasonable compared to others which is a huge plus ........ Kim Legault

This is what I thought vets would be like when I was a kid... like people who actually care about and love animals. I never thought of veterinarians as business people but more as someone who was passionate about something - form the heart. This is what I've found to be the case at this clinic. The staff and Dr. Gilmore were totally amazing. I'll never go anywhere else.

My cat was treated for a UTI and ended up staying for days. I was not consulted at any time as to how long the treatment would be, nor about the cost. I feel extremely disappointed that they would take for granted that I would authorize them to give my cat any drug of their choosing without my consent. The staff was great, but I won't be returning because of this distrust.
