Uncaring out for the money only interested in if you can pay before they see your loved one must give a downpayment before they see your pet they take advantage if they see you are very emotional to get help for the pet you love $5000 later and I had to put my pet down because they said said she was suffering. don't go there if you love your pet

I brought in my dog after I ran over him. An invoice was given up front. "What about broken bones?" I asked. "Oh yeah", said the employee. "Let me ask the doctor". They then added radiographs to the invoice. Careless error. I opted for treatment and resuscitation. Dr. H called and said they'd perform surgery after washing him, and that he was doing well. I called a few hours later, but Dr. D was busy. She returned my call 2 hours later saying he had died. False hopes dashed. Supposedly, they found him in his cage dead. No attempts at resuscitation were made because it was too late. How long did they leave him dead without checking him? They didn't perform surgery. They left the wound open/bandaged from 7pm to 2pm next day. She said the wound was dirty even after washing. She stumbled over her fishy explanation. Why didn't they call us beforehand? Why prolong his suffering? Douglass seemed coldhearted as we talked to her. Please stop hurting more beloved pets and their owners.

To all concerned pet owners,
My husband and I had the sorrowful experience of humanely ending the life of our dog on March 31, 2011. Our special thanks to Dr. Garcia and Dr. Quick for their diagnostic care. While we had hoped that the results could have been treatable it was not to be. They were economically conservative in their diagnostic efforts, stopping as soon as they knew the results were not treatable. They provided a CD of the radiology to take to our home vet to view. They honored all of our requests for our pets final care. All of the staff we encountered were professional and most of all compassionate concerning the needs of both our pet and our distressed state of mind. Other than the outcome of the diagnosis there is not one thing I would have changed in our experience with the clinic. A finer group of staff cannot be found.
Sincerely,
S C Chapman

I have never had better experience with a veterinarian than I have with Dr. Hendrix. I live in the Woodlands and adopted 2 rescue pugs with preexisting issues 3ish years ago. After going to my “local” vet and accruing almost thousands of dollars in vet bills and visits resulting in the idea that I would have to put one of my pugs down because of all of his medical issues… PugHearts recommended that I try Dr. Hendrix in Sugar Land. I was reluctant because of the hour+ drive to Sugar Land, but desperate for a second opinion. Man, am I glad I did! I couldn’t help but get teary eyed when he told me that I didn’t have to put my pugger down and that all he needed was some drops for his ears and he should be better in a couple of weeks. Dr. Hendrix is my hero, that man has saved me bookoos of money! I would recommend him to ANYONE and have to EVERYONE! Thanks Dr. Hendrix…Thanks for everything. Angie K. Edwards: The Woodlands TX

My dog swallowed a fish hook, and I was left no choice but to go to this animal hospital. I spent over $1200 dollars and they did not even remove the hook. They initially quoted me between $450 and $700, but kept telling me it would be more money. When I left there, they had not even removed the fish hook. I ended up picking up the dog, with the hook still in his stomach, and the vet did not even come out to talk with me, but instead a technician brought him to me along with my invoice. I do not recommend taking your pet here! They will take advantage of your vulnerability and charge you an arm and a leg for no service in return!

Two times we have been there, each was horrible. Our experience matches D.M's post. The staff, punctuality, value and methods of service are among the worst we have ever experienced (own 11 cats and 3 dogs, and have a LOT of experience with vets and emergencies). As for care, average and one case required a surgical redo from our vet, improper medication dosages and improper medications. We would have gone elsewhere, but once you are there, especially in an emergency, you are effectively trapped into payment or compromising your animal by leaving.

It is sad to see the bad reviews. Especially the cost complaints. I have taken my animals to emergency clinics before and it always costs big bucks. SLVS is no different in price then other emergency clinics and its building and equipment are state of the art. Its very similiar if you were to go to the emergency room versus going to your regular doctor during regular business hours, you pay much much more to go to the emergency room. Also the staff there is wonderful, they give you many options for the care of your animal and they really care.

My experience at Sugar Land Veterinary Specialists was VERY positive. The staff, from the receptionist to the Veterinarian truly cared about my situation and my baby. We had a difficult decision to make, unfortunately because of the cost and possible poor quality of life for Sammy. We chose the treament and am happy to say the outcome was wonderful! The skill and compassion of the staff was amazing. I am recommending SLVS to all my friends and family.

I hate to see bad reviews like the others here. Me and my friends have had the best experience at this clinic. My neighbor even had to put her dog down, and the vets here treated her like she had just lost her mother. I recomend Sugar Land Vet Specialists to anyone!!!!

Took my dog in with a laceration below her eye. When I arrived, there was only one other person there. I sat in the lobby for 15 minutes after filling out the paperwork. Then off to an exam room where I sat alone with my dog for over an hour without a single person coming in to say anything. Apparently mine wasn't an emergency. I finally got up and left and the receptionist didn't say a single word as I walked out the door. I will never go there again and I am alerting my vet to not recommend them either. Nice new building, smiling receptionist... but ZERO customer service or help. Find another place to go.

My cat made one of the dumbest mistakes of her life this week. She ate an entire package of hair rubber bands. I took her to SLVS for the first time on the recommendation of Petsmart and was so so impressed with not only the incredible care my cat received but also the exceptional customer service I was offered as a nervous Mom. SLVS was the cleanest veterinary emergency center I have ever seen, and the staff was the most patient and friendly I've encountered in a doctor's office, period. They listened to me cry, took my numerous frantic phone calls, and best of all got my kitty through a particularly precarious situation. I have been using the veterinary facilities at Petsmart for the past 2 years mostly for financial reasons, but have already cancelled my plan in favor of taking my animal to Sugarland Veterinary Specialists.
