This place has made just too many mistakes. They are expensive and too large. First off, when reordering medication they always ask for your phone number and say they will call you back when it is ready. I have yet to get a call. Even after my pet had surgery the vet never called when I was told to expect a call. Then, when I've picked up medication, the directions have been wrong twice! I've called to get this corrected, but it continues. Another time when my pet was prescribed medication the tech never told me to refrigerate it. I had to make another trip to get new medicine. When they have you come in for blood work, it is excessive. I questioned it and was able to get the amount of tests lessened. The tech said "next time" I will have to get the full range of tests.... I won't be back, sorry. I am not fool and won't be overcharged. I have to say, I do like the vet I see. She is competent, but surrounded by a large money making machine with an incompetent staff.

If you own a toy-breed dog, this is the best place in the area to take them! The techs are experienced in handling small dogs and the difficulties in taking blood for bloodwork from them. The vets and techs really listen to your concerns and take them into consideration when treating your dog. The prices are a little higher than other vets in the area, but in my opinion, they are worth every dollar when it comes to my pup! I will never go anywhere else! Everyone that works here is pleasant to deal with and the vets and techs treat your dog with kindness and care that you would.

Dr. Krewatch and his staff are the most caring and compassionate people. I have never had a bad experience in over 25 years that I have been a client. They truly care about your pet.

I have been going to BH since it opened as a small single vet (Dr. Krewatch) vet in the 80's. It (along with the area) expanded greatly. I have 5 dogs, they all go there. Before they had the emergency service there, I went to Etna for an emergency call.. which was not nearly as nice. Yes.. they have new vets. Dr. Krewatch & Dr. Schurig have been there for decades though. You can request to see one of them, they are both very good. Dr. Dan (he is french so I not attemping his last name) is very knowlegeable. The other (2-3) vets are pretty green. The cost is high though, and it does seem a lot more like a business since it expanded. I don't use their kennel, but have used their grooming which does a great job. I have seen the same ladies at the front desk for several years, so I am unsure why the previous posted mentioned employee turnover. It is a BIG vet.. but it does have a lot of resources.

This hospital has a weekend (but not weeknight) emergency clinic that we have needed to use on several occasions. Care there has ranged from quite good to very poor. We had a pretty obviously inept misdiagnosis on a very sick pup last year, and got lip from a baby vet who thought she knew a lot more than she does. Our regular vet got it right and listened to what we were telling him. Luck of the draw with the vet you get, and a seemingly high staff turnover. Support staff is ignorant and shows evidence of being ill-paid. Focus of the business seems to be on extracting money more than healing/providing care. This business had the contract with the local Petland before they were shut down, and promoted pet-store puppymill pups as pets. Cost for routine care is well above standard for the area; emergency care costs are not too bad. The boarding kennel is all indoors, very loud, not adequate opportunities for dogs to exercise.
