Initial thoughts of Dr. Schaffer are great. Does not push products/services on us and is very knowleageable of our dog's breed and it's behavior.

Do not go to this vet. Our pet was injured by one of the staff lifting onto examining table and subsequently died. All Dr. Shafer cares about is the money and doing unnecessary tests.

Dr. Schafer is the most talented, experienced (28 years I know of), and most importantly, honest vet. He is an ethical dog lover who's passionate about our dogs' best interests - not padding bills - one reason he's been in the same little spot at least 28 years, and the office is still jam-packed with us dog lovers. When I moved out of Union County, I saw six other vets who failed to diagnose my dog's diabetes for six years; this led to life-threatening complications - even with lab work and x-rays, the wrong meds and over $1000 in bills. Dr. Schafer nailed my dog's issues in one visit - just one visit. If you love your dog, take him to Dr. Schafer. Any problem beyond the scope of his facility and/or practice/skill array, he will promptly refer to qualified specialists. You can avoid the negligence/incompetence/scam/greed ridden pitfalls my husband and I endured in the hands of unethical vets.

This guy is great. Very small practice. This is the only place I trust for my best friends!
