If your cat is like a family member, this is the place to go. I have nothing but compliments for this hospital. The doctors and staff were efficient and informative. Dr. Schmidt found problems with my cat's teeth which my last vet missed. My cat Cleo had been chewing funny for almost two months. There was an awful smell coming from her mouth as well. My old veterinarian said it was "nothing to worry about". Well suffice to say there absolutely was an issue. Dr. Schmidt took x-rays and found decaying roots. End result after having 4 teeth removed Cleo will be fine. The catclinic took such good care of her and I will be forever grateful.

Staff is wonderful, but the prices are astronomical. $1500 to have my cat's urinary track unblocked plus another $900 at the emergency clinic because the cat clinic doesn't have weekend care. His last blockage cost a total of $1000 at the Cat Clinic in Arlington Heights. Although the vets want the best care for your cat, all their suggested services make you feel as if you are a bad cat-mom. The facilities are extremely clean and cozy - you can tell the office is run by females). I was even offered a beverage while my cat was being examined.....almost spa like. Maybe they should hold back on the "extra's" to keep their cost down. Staff doesn't do much to work within your monetary limits. I couldn't afford a second urinary blockage in the same month and was told my alternative was to put my cat down. Thank goodness I found another vet within my price range....I have a happy, healthy cat again!

NICC is very pricey and there are many reviews that note this on the web. We have had as many as three cats at a one time and our bills have been astronomical. We had to take one of our cats to the emergency pet hospital in Buffalo Grove once when it was near the end of the day at NICC and they could not keep him overnight. The labs and after hours care for the entire weekend were less expensive at the emergency pet hospital than the equivalents were at NICC. Yes, it has good points for being a cat only clinic and as one review notes that they cater to the humans also, but we have had treatments and prescriptions recommended to us that we felt weren't really necessary. We finally decided after the costs of our last well care visit for all three indoor cats was unbelievably high that our local vet is just as caring even if they aren't specialized and don't have all the bangs and whistles.

Love the NICC and take my two cats there. Have never had bad service but I'm not going to lie, it's not cheap. I look at it like I would a child's care. As for pushing other services and tests on people I'm going to have to disagree. They recommended "packages to me" and I took the new-kitten package for one of my cats and didn't take the (i forget the name of it) other package for my other. It was pretty simple. They told me what they wanted to do and I told them what I wanted to them to do. All they're doing is being cautious. Dr. Miller & Dr. Schmidt have both taken the time to explain everything that they were doing and wanded to do. At no point have I ever been left confused or uninformed.

I've been bringing my 18-year-old Siamese Mix to the Northern Illinois Cat Clinic for several months now. My veterinarian referred me out because she's not a full service clinic and thus couldn't figure out what was wrong with him. After spending more than $1,000 on my cat, we found out he has Haemobartonella (aka Feline Infectious Anemia) and some intestinal problems. He was taking Doxycycline, but is off it now. He's still taking Prednisolone and Pecid AC has has recently begun taking Pepcid AC. I had him taken in for a dental recently and my bill came to $1,454.34. Now, I knew it was going to be expensive due to his problems, but I feel like I was ripped off. I know my veterinarian would've charged a lot less, probably even half of what the NICC charged me. If Thomas needs anything else done, like an untrasound or biopsy he'll most likely have it done at the NICC. But after that, I want him under my vet's care. IMHO, the NICC leaves a lit to be desired, esp. with punctuality!

I've been taking my 2 healthy cats there for 8 years and it's been pricey, but I've been happy with the care. However, this last time I was there for the annual exam and they took them in the back for 2.5 hours and then charged me $680. Apparently they ran glaucoma tests and all kinds of other tests without asking me first and they said they needed their teeth cleaned again which they just had last year. That would set me back another $400 minimally. I love my cats, but to spend more than $1000 per year on vet bills when they are perfectly healthy indoor only cats is insane.

Staff at the clinic has changed and really push to get their sales up. It it all about the money. Care is high quality but sometimes aggressive.
