Click to report rating    3/20/23   5     4     4     4   So happy to have found this clinic, we will be even be bringing our new puppy here. Dr. Amanda Curry helped my senior dog Teddy in his last couple of months. She greatly improved his quality of life and he finally started sleeping peacefully and pain free through the night. She was so loving and caring during his euthanasia. It was so hard for our family to finally decide but Dr. Curry made the whole situation very peaceful and we are thankful for her loving care. We are so lucky to have found Dr. Curry and the team at Pickering Animal Hospital. They are a little bit expensive but well worth the money. We won’t go anywhere else. RID: 70614
Click to report rating    1/12/21   3     3     3     3   I gave the above rating, specifically to warn people of the new vet they have by the name of AMANDA CURRY. She lied to her boss about a new client based on personal issues she has with this client. She lied and said there was a court case against us and there never has nor ever was. She just did not like my daughter and her horse when we boarded at her families defunct horse facility. She is very very manipulative and told her boss (owner) at lies that could easily be proven false, this goes to show how nasty she is. Would you like your animal looked after by this person. Shame on Pickering Animal Hospital for refusing service to a new client based on lies even after they received numerous calls from family verifying the lies that AMANDA CURRY was perpetrating were just that, LIES. DO NOT let AMANDA CURRY examine your animal. She has a very bad attitude and is very condescending but will also make like she does like you, when in fact you need to be careful. RID: 69744

6/11/19   5     5     5     5   Have been coming here for many years with 4 different pets, including our 2 current cats. Dr Melissa is our Vet and I would never take my cats to see anyone else. She is incredible. And the staff are extremely knowledgeable and supportive too, especially if you call in to ask a question. Whether I’ve lived a few mins away or an hour away I’ve continued to come here and will continue to. RID: 68115
Click to report rating    4/8/19   1     1     1     1   This clinic used to be good - but now is terrible. Don't bring your animals here. My recent experience with Dr. Melissa Cogswell, DVM was the worst I have ever experienced. She was rude, obnoxious and completely unprofessional. Dr. Melissa Cogswell should not be in a veternarian practice and does not care about animals. RID: 67878
Click to report rating    5/28/17   5     5     5     4   I wouldn't take my dogs anywhere else. Dr McMillan was so nice to them, and very kind and patient with me. She cares for my pets! My one dog even fell asleep in Dr McMilans arms, when Dr McMillan was sitting on the floor to examine her!! That speaks volumes to me! !!! RID: 63761

11/13/15   5     5     5     5   Had an amazing experience at Pickering Animal Hospital, we were visiting from out of town and our puppy was vomiting. They were able to squeeze us in right away. Dr. McMillen, as very thorough, informative and great with our pup Ella. I even called back later in the evening with concerns and she spent time speaking with me on the phone. I would highly recommend this clinic for your pet. If we move back to the area I will definitely be bringing my dog to Dr. McMillen! RID: 58963

10/26/14   5     5     5     5   Real animals lovers. You can tell they do this from the heart. Have taken all my pets here since the 1990s. If you think of your pets like your own children, the doctors/nurses here are like pediatricians. The vet has done follow up calls to our house, asking how my pets were responding to their meds and even answered my questions (we had at least a 10 minute conversation) on the phone! RID: 54292
Click to report rating    9/13/14   5     5     5     5   Such a caring group. I unfortunately had to euthanize my beloved dog. They made my family feel at ease. Its a wonderfull clinic. Special thanks to dana, she help us out alot, and was great while we were going through this terrible time. We will never go to anothet vet clinic again. And another big bonus, there prices are better then most, and they truly care about your pets wellbeing RID: 53533

Click to report rating    1/25/14   5     5     5     5   I have had nothing but positive experiences with the staff and vets of this clinic. Every one is very accommodating. The receptions have always squeezed me in when ever I have had a problem with any of my animals. I have 2 cats and 2 dogs and all my animals have seen all the vets there but our favourite is Dr. Susan Mcmillen. I have been going to this clinic for the last 4 years and I have never felt like I was rushed into doing anything I was not ready to. Dr. Mcmillen always goes the extra mile. Heck! she even got all comfy on the floor with rusty and examined him right in the waiting room area infront of other waiting clients when he was unable to walk. The technicians are very caring and empathic towards the animals and their clients. Katrina and Dayna are very informative and through when explaining procedures and post surgery care. Every one is great during hard times especially during euthanasia's. I would definitely recommend this clinic to everyone. RID: 49460
Click to report rating    1/24/14   5     5     5     5   I have nothing but praise for the staff at Pickering Animal Hospital. They have gone above and beyond caring for my pets. Dr. McMillan has even made a Sunday morning house call. Her love for animals is immeasurable and I thank her for that! Hope you all enjoyed the cookies and treats I made at Christmas for you, just a small token of our appreciation. Abby, Rosie, Kitty and Holly say thank you. :) RID: 49450
Click to report rating    1/24/14   5     5     5     5   I have nothing but amazing things to say about the Pickering animal hospital and the staff! Dr. Susan McMillan was kind enough to take my cat in for Immediate surgery as she was walking out the door to go home. My cat had suddenly caught her tail behind a closing door and was severely bleeding and in obvious pain. Dr. McMillan without question took her in for immediate surgery and had to amputate her tail. She not only saved my cats life, took time away from her busy personal life but also saved me lots of money from not having to go to emergency! Thank you Dr. McMillan and the staff of the Pickering animal hospital!!! RID: 49448
Click to report rating    1/24/14   4     4     5     3   The clinic was very good until Dr. Susan Smith took it over 1-2 years ago. She has no people skills whatsoever, and isn't much better with the animals. I question whether she even likes animals - she handles them as things, not pets. This opinion is based on multiple visits to her. The other vets and support staff are very good. I find the clinic very expensive as well. RID: 49442
Click to report rating    1/13/14   5     5     5     5   Amazing vets! Everyone there is great and i trust them 100% with all my animals! I have used 10+ different veterniary clinics before but Susan McMillen and Melissa Cogswell stand out as the best vets I have ever come across! I highly recommend them to everyone I know and I only hear such wonderful things about the great team at Pickering animal hospital. They are currently vets of our 6 dogs, cats, guinea pigs, rabbits, rats and birds. They are so caring and have always gone out of their way to care for all my critters! Fantastic people even better vets! RID: 49222
Click to report rating    1/4/14   1     1     1     1   Dr. McMillen is an absolutely terrible veterinarian with a lack of interest in the welfare of the pets she is responsible for. She is very mean and I highly recommend that everyone take their pets elsewhere. Your pets will not be taken care of if you bring them to her! The receptionists are rude and under qualified. The "veterinary technicians" are uneducated and neither Katrina or Dayna have been to veterinary technician school. They both only have "animal care" diplomas. They are not Registered Veterinary Technicians - these ladies are assisting in surgery and procedures with your pets... be warned!! RID: 49075
Click to report rating    10/30/13   5     5     5     5   Amazing!!! We love doctor Susan McMillan she's always super kind and gentle with our pets never pushed unnecessary things on us. She calls to check up on our kitties after we leave . RID: 47989
Click to report rating    10/23/13   5     5     5     5   I am a faithful fan of Pickering Animal Hospital. They have, at times, waived their fees for our dog because they really do care about our pets! We came here after leaving other vets in the Pickering area because we had bad experiences with them. But the vet at Pickering Animal Hospital told us what was wrong with Barney, told us how much it would cost and presented us with both the treatment plan and how long he should be on it. Everything was presented to us up front. Nothing was held back and we appreciate that. Thank you Pickering Animal Hospital. I have referred my uncle and aunt to you as well. RID: 47813
Click to report rating    5/28/13   5     5     5     5   My family has been going here for many years. First visit on my own with my cat. Dr. Cogswell was so pleasant and friendly. She took her time answering all questions. She knew my parents were looking after my cat for the weekend and even called them just to check in! I was amazed and will most certainly go back here if ever need be. RID: 42777
5/21/13   3     3     2     2   very high fees, poor service and explanation of former low rates to current very high rates, and of you ever use a veterinary clinic for your dog, you are almost irresponsible. RID: 42610
Click to report rating    2/23/13   1     2     1     1   Absolute terrible service. The young girls that worked there were so rude and gave too much attitude. RID: 40663

2/23/12   5     5     5     5   This vet is absolutely phenomenal. The staffs are so friendly and they go above and beyond to give your furry family the utmost of care. We have been clients for over 7 years. Dr. Melissa Cogswell is just so patient, professional and knowledgeable. Our golden who suffered with numerous health issues was a real challenge, Dr. Melissa Cogswell diagnosed and provided treatments that were manageable she really helped us give Rainy the quality of life she deserved. The compassion that the whole team showed us when we had to say goodbye to our Rainy is unforgettable. Dr. Cogswell and her staff were very attentive to our needs from follow up visits to pain management to talking about the end, we will never forget it. We have 4 pets, our newest addition is already a big fan of the clinic, he was neutered this week and it was a very positive experience, they are very thorough and provided us with all the information we need for his recovery and after care. We know our pets are in good hands. RID: 32420

12/20/11   5     5     5     5   Best clinic in Durham. Vets and staff are amazing and care about you and your pet. Follow-up care is astoudning, and staff will always go out of their way to help you/your pet. Not to mention they saved my 14 year old cats life a year ago (15 now). RID: 29970
Click to report rating    11/11/11   1     2     2     2   I hate to give a bad review but I would not recommend this clinic, they can be quite unprofessional, they mess up client records, they don't keep good health history records, and they mis-diagnose issues when you bring your animal in resulting in a second visit. Vet Fail. I will say they are nice to your animal, but that's incidental because your animal dosn't really want to be there so two visits really sucks for them. RID: 29046

9/25/11   5     5     5     5   We attended another Vet for 8 years before coming to this clinic. I was thrilled with the care and attention my dog recieved. Our vet Sue Smith is so genuine and very thorough. She even took photos during a surgery so we could see what she did. The follow up care is second to none. I also brought a stray cat to this clinic before I brought our dog because the poor thing was laying on the road. They didn't know me but scanned the cat for a microchip and checked the cat for serious injury. I would recommend this clinic to anyone who wants excellent vet care and some loving hugs for your animal. As well the prices are great and the follow ups are included in your first visit for that issue. Unlike some vets they don't keep quessing and charging owners for the same issue. A very ethical business and vets who clearly love their patients. RID: 27882
Click to report rating    9/2/11   5     5     5     5   Wow, I've never met a bunch of more caring people. From the front reception to the doctors. Most want to be called by their first name. They treated us like family, or at the least good friends. They cared for our cat and dog like they were their own. The phone calls we got from the vet themselves were so appreciated. I can't imagine going to any other place. RID: 27345
Click to report rating    1/7/11   5     5     5     5   What I LOVE about this clinic is that re-checks are always free! No other clinc does that! RID: 21874
Click to report rating    8/14/08   2     4     4     3   I used to take my animals to this clinic, but the service I found slowly declined. I found the receptionists really didn't care or listen to what I was calling about. The healing process for my animals following surgery was quite long in comparision to other people's pets at other clinics. My animals are beyond important to me, and I wanted a clinic that showed that they actually cared. I have found another clinic and am much happier. RID: 9661
