I did not like the upsell at all. They tried to sell me expensive products that I felt I did not need. Briggs is not sincere and did not introduce herself to me. The girl at the front was totally disorganized and forgot to give me a couple of things. I'm not going back.

I have placed my beloved animals in the care of Austin Animal Hospital for the past eighteen years 18 years. Dr Gutteridge is an absolutely wonderful veterinarian in all aspects, and he had my implicit trust, based upon his his knowledge, ability and caring. It was difficult to accept his retirement. I felt his loss deeply. It is a leap of faith, to trust any new Veterinarian, and despite the fact of Dr. Gutteridge's endorsement...I did not know Dr.Briggs. But I came to know her quite quickly, as an evolution of my dear Jade-Po and Merlin, who she cares for with a gentle kindness, and a quiet competence. I had to make the decision to euthenize my little Jade-Po, due to tongue cancer. Dr briggs was most compassionate, and caring. She sat down with me to explain the ramifications of Po's cancer, the prognosis, the options. Dr Briggs understood well,my heartache. I have known Janna and Tonya for most of those years, followed by Amy and Marion. They are marvellous...

I have been going to the Austin Animal Clinic for many, many years and I absolutely loved Dr. Gutteridge. He was amazing. I have been incredibly disappointed by Dr. Briggs. I would NOT recommend her at all. I have moved all my animals to another clinic. Dr. Briggs doesn't appear to have a good connection with the animals that she treats. She seems to refer treatment out. I have been to the Canada West clinic more times than I care to think of and she has cost me money- given that the treatments are ones that she should be typically able to do herself. She does not appear to do much in the way of surgical procedures - which I think is odd for a vet clinic. She does not communicate well and often misses very basic concerns. She does not follow up on the animals, so you often left in limbo. Her vet techs are very good- except -I have to say for Marion. Marion is argumentative and not a good front person for this business.

Dr Briggs was my veterinarian when she practiced in Nanaimo. She was very caring and gentle to my pets and even came to my house when it was time to euthanize my cat, Mitzi. My pets all loved her, even my difficult cats! I highly recommend her!

Since Dr. Gutteridge has left this clinic, it has slid down hill. Even some of the staff have moved on!! Took our dog there for testing and it cost us a fortune and still no accurate diagnosis. Took her to another and they pin pointed the issue immediately and we only had to buy antibiotics and some wet food. We found the new vet Dr, Briggs to be unemotional and definitely lacks communication skills. We have chosen not to return to this vet. She seems to have a lack of knowledge and personality.

Tech's answering the phones are more inclined to recommend expensive services than offer alternative less expensive treatments. The vet seems to be inexperienced, relies heavily on her techs. Treatment for my dog's ear infections have not been successful at all

I took my cat here when she got very sick, very suddenly. Dr. Briggs ran the least expensive (and most likely to yield results) test FIRST, saving my cat suffering. When I chose to put my cat down due to her illness, Dr. Briggs and her staff were very compassionate. I would absolutely take my other cat here.

I have been taking my animals to Dr.Trish Briggs for 9 years prior to her moving to Coquitlam. She has treated my animals with utmost care. She is an outstanding vetranarian in all aspects.During the end of life process for our two old dogs she treated them with her expertice and love and was very supported of us.I was lucky enough to tour her facilities in Coquitlam and found it to be very clean and well laid out with updating being an ongoing trend.Dr Trish is very excited at being in the animal community in Coquitlam and in my opinion will be very successful

I used to LOVE this clinic because Dr.Gutteridge was the BEST!! However, since taking over the clinic, Dr. Briggs presents as cold and infriendly towards her clients and their pets - nor does she seem interested in the animals. She does seem to know her stuff however to date, I have not been impressed. But then, I was spoiled with Dr. Gutteridge's amazing skill and ability and his gentleness ansd kindness towards my animals. I wish we could clone him!! When Dr. Briggs came on, I had expected the same quality of care. Surprise!! Then there's Marion. You can always tell when Marion is in a bad mood. She ignores you or is just plain rude. She doesn't really seem to fit into the team and she certainly doesn't appear to act as part of the team! She seems to carry that damn phone in her pocket because she is the only one who ever seems to answer it! I never see her doing much other than sitting on her behind at the front counter - while all the other vet techs are running around like crazy!!

In 2010, the two vets at this hospital (Dr. Briggs and Dr. Gutteridge)were extremely negligent during the anesthetic procedure and our healthy dog died because of their actions. We took him in for routine teeth cleaning. Not only did they fail to set up the anesthesia machine properly (i.e., failing to release a connector that would allow him to exhale), they didn't monitor him closely and didn't even know he was in distress until it was too late. They indicated that by the time they got to him he had no pulse and could not be revived because his lungs were so badly damaged that his heart stopped. The whole experience has been our worst nightmare - veterinary care does not get any worse than this. Our dog's death was entirely avoidable. He died because these two vets didn't follow through on the explicit promises they make on their website regarding proper protocol. Our little guy meant the world to us and our lifelong regret will be that we entrusted him to the "care" of these vets.

This hospital changed hands this year and we haven't been impressed with the new full time vet, Patricia Briggs. She doesn't seem to have good rapport with pets - she seemed very blank and cold with our dog even though he is really friendly. He screamed out during an exam and she didn't even pet him or talk to him in a calming way. Her people skills are not the best either. She was reluctant to talk about our dog's medical history, which seemed odd given she is new here, and she wasn't knowledgeable about his condition. Our new vet at a different hospital is more competent, caring, and willing to share information. Briggs didn't inspire confidence.
