Refer to this link. He has a formal caution against him, issued by the MVMA. He currently has 11 rulings against him, and is facing another complaint. Diagnosed my older dog with hypothyroidism, pancreatitis, neither of which he had, and a drug resistant ear infection, which was treated by another vet with antibiotics. Botched my younger dogs neuter which left him with a blood clot that looks like a third testicle. Prescribed unnecessary meds, but best of all, prescribed expired meds for a skin condition. I refuse to continue to pay for the privilege of bringing my Four-Footed Children to the AHM. An Opportunist first and Veterinarian second, they consistently prove they DON'T care about YOU - just your '$'. And you better have enough of it 'cause they sent our newest addition to a 'Cat Rescue' shelter with supposedly life-threatening problems ($682 worth), but he was good to go and had been 'adopted' out five days later. That's just too collusive for our liking. I had $330 on me when I took the Little Guy to the AHM (I have the Initial Examination Invoice), a decade of coming there, and the ongoing needs of our two and this new one; but 'No Payments' - even though their website points to a PetCard Option in Emergency Cases like this. The Office Manager should be furious - it just makes good 'Business Sense' to work with us to bring 'Buddy Love' (yes, I'm a Jerry Lewis fan) back 'Home'. We're going to the Sherbrook Animal Hospital from now on.

I had previously gone to a vet out of town and they were not informative and gave my puppy an antibiotic that made her vomit. They offered a new pill and I asked to have it transferred to a vet near me, they charged $15 for faxing it. That day my pup had blood in her feces and I call the animal hospital of Manitoba, they were closed but the vet answered and rushed me in right away. He offers an injectable so she wouldn’t vomit anymore pills up as he explained that antibiotics are hard on their stomachs. She had a skin bacteria at the time as well so she received an injectable for that as well. Also she was given an herbal gi to settle her stomach down. She hasn’t had a smelly fart since (normally it was very rank). She was back to ?? within hours of seeing this vet. The injectables were more costly than pills but worth it, and I appreciated that it was an option provided to me. So impressed. My pup will continue to go here.thank you!!!

Dr Zheng advertises his subsidy program to lure patients into his clinic but then over-charges for his services. My dog tore his ACL the other day so I took him to Dr Zheng and he quoted me $801 for a diagnosis and examination fee. I ended up paying the exam fee then took my dog to Tuxedo Vet Hospital and my entire bill for the exam fee and diagnosis was $334. Dr Zheng quoted me Previcox ($220) & a Fentanyl patch ($77) for pain and insisted on sedation ($88) for 3
X-rays ($200) not to mention a thyroid test ($77) and blood work ($22) plus $60 for the examination. Tuxedo vet hospital sent me home with only an anti-inflammatory and they didn't require sedation to X-ray my dog. The examination fee was $80 but their staff seemed much more competent and professional and trustworthy. Going to Dr Zheng was a total waste of my time and money and worse it prolonged my dog's suffering. I would not recommend this veterinary hospital to anyone.

This occurred several years ago so the emotion has diminished, but the bad taste still lingers. Our little cat was sitting peaceably on the steps of our house when attacked by an unleashed dog. She was hurt very badly and my partner rushed her to Dr. Zheng at the Manitoba Animal Hospital. By the time I got out of work and rushed down there, Dr. Zheng told us she required an operation, although he was very vague on details. Of course we gave him the go ahead and he performed some kind of operation. $1500 dollars later he said he wasn't sure how well she was doing and would need to call in another vet to consult with but that vet would not be available until the next day. Next day we got a call to tell us there was nothing further to do and that she should be put down. We came in paid for that as well and never got an explanation what the original operation was for. To add more indignity to this they were going to give us her remains in a garbage bag. Dr. Zheng = All about the $$$.

Dr. Zheng and his staff are not pet friendly. Matt choked my dog by dragging him on a leash. This clinic is all about money and unnecessary medication, fabricated medical conditions. The staff have been caught lying and I was quoted 750.00 for ear & skin infection. I was not given opportunity for second opinion. Procedure was done without my authorization, then I was held hostage in their office until I came up with the money to pay the inflated bill. This doctor can barely speak English and refuses to help pet owners understand medical issues and medications. My dog turned violent and vicious when approached by these members which is a sign you should not ignore. Once I took my dog in for second opinion, I was informed my dog did not have a skin infection and medications were not needed. Do not take your pets here, these folks are all about money and not animals.

Went 3 years ago with my cat and Dr Zheng tried to sell me holistic meds. Did not care for his focusing on sales. decided to go elsewhere. Now this week thought I wold see him and get a second opinion on my cats breathing problem. Walked in, barely acknowledged, sat there for over half an hour and left. Will never go there again and will get a second opinion elsewhere. Felt very uncomfortable being ignored like that wshen there were 3 in the desk area, two doing nothing. As far as costs don't know what it would have cost me, but since both my experiences with this vet have not been enjoyable, will not recommend or ever go there again, coupon or no coupon. Rude staff.

Thank you to Dr Zheng and staff!! They are always helpful and informative. I have been coming to the animal hospital for a while now and my pup always leave happy. My Dog did have a dental there recently and i was nervous at first, but they did an awesome job!! thank you again.

I have been bringing both my 4 pets (2 dogs and 2 cats) and my parents 3 pets (2 dogs, 1 cat) here for several years now and there is a reason I keep coming back! My moms dog is 14 years old and he would of passed many years ago if it were not for Dr. Zheng and his amazing staff. Our old veterinarian shows zero interest in making his little life better. He is a whole new dog and is doing extremely well considering his age. My girl was a rescue and terrified of most people. she is absolutely fine at this clinic. the staff are so caring and will give you an estimate and work with you on what best fits your budget. He really has the pets best interest at heart as opposed to most other vets that are only in it for money. This clinic is 100% worth the drive into the city. I never want to take any of the furbabies elsewhere. - VB

The staff are very nice here, The prices are really high but I assume that anywhere I go they are the same. I have never taken my dog to any other vet so I am not sure. I would recommend this vet he is very good.

I brought my dog here for a spay in 2015, because it was on the list from Animal Control (where we rescued the dog from). Weeks later the wound was NOT healing well. I brought her back in and he said it was infected and sold me some antibiotics and a spray to "promote healing". The next week, it looked even worse. I took her into my regular vet, who said it looked AWFUL and that they needed to do emergency, exploritory surgery. Come to find out, Dr. Wenchao Zheng had used non-absorbable stitching on the inside of my dog! I called, emailed, and even went to the state vet board to complain - with no responce. I once got someone on the phone that kept flat out denying that this would be a possibility. Overall, their HORRIBLE services costed me $1000 and risked the life of my dog. DO NOT GO HERE.

I brought my dog to Animal Hospital of Manitoba for a semi-emergency. My regular vet was closed. My dog had eaten something quickly and was gasping and wheezing. He was breathing okay but I felt he should see a vet.
A nurse at the clinic briefly examined my dog and understood the problem I described. Dr. Wenchao Zheng then examined my dog, but seemed to be looking for bigger problems than the one at hand. He decided my dog had bad fur, terrible teeth, an infection, and was much older than I said he was (he is 2 and I got him as a puppy). He wanted to do full blood work and full X-rays. The worst part was he neglected to even look down my dog's throat. He did not listen to me at all. The problem I brought my dog in for had just occurred an hour before, but he kept insisting it must be a long-term problem.
The estimate was $300 and not explained to me why they were necessary. I feel he was greedy at the sight of a new customer concerned about her dog. I paid only the exam fee.

i had taken my cat here to get a check up cause she was throwing up after eating. The doctor told me she needed surgery to check for clogged intestines. Two thousand dollars later it turns out that my cat just needs Ranitodine (a stomach antacid) so for the next 2 years i buy the medication from the vet without problems. suddenly on my next time to get the medication, i am told by a couple of very rude staff that my cat needs to be brought in for an examination, which is going to cost me an extra 70 dollars. this is clearly nothing more then a cash grab. then the vet tells me that they will not give my cat medication unless i bring her in for that examination. clearly this vet puts money before animal safety and comfort. this is Ranitodine were talking about, any one can buy it over the counter from safeway. I called my pharmacy and will be getting my cats meds from them for now on. I WILL NEVER return my pet to this veterinarian. NEVER!!!

We have been taking our pets to this clinic for the past two years. We find thestaff to be friendly, genuinely caring and professional. In paerticular Dr.Zhang takes the time to explain medical terms to us. He is not only knowledgeable , but also demonstrate his compassionate towards animals. Recently we have toAckerman the painful decision to euthanize our cat. Through out the process, Dr.Zhang was there for us. He made sure that our beloved coco did not suffer. Without any request from us, he volunteerily reduced the final bill to reduce our financial burden. As pet parents, we recommend this clinic to those of you who love your pet.

Facility is clean, but the vet does NOT understand dog body language at all, he backed my then terrified puppy into the corner trying to get him to "take the cookies". Needless to say I ripped the cookie out of his hands before my dog became any more stressed. They then treated my dog for things that he did not have ( they tested and confirmed he did not have it) he barely gave me an explanation before jabbing needles into me dog. Then they made me treat my 16year old dog and my cat which they had NEVER SEEN BEFORE for fleas which they confirmed wasn't the cause of my dogs skin soars.. I had to pay over 700 dollars for treatments I didn't really want and the worst thing was lt was my first dog (personally) and I was only 19. The skin infection turned out to be allergies to his food which they never even mentioned could be a possibility. I feel like this clinic took total advantage of me. I now have a great vet elsewhere who, unfortunatly, has to deal with my dog and his fear of vets.

The waiting times are terrible!Even with having made an appointment I'm always sent to the office to "have the dr. come in a moment" and wait for 30-45min. The Physical exam/office visit costs $60 and the dr did nothing except checking the ears. The dr and his staff try to sell you all kinds of services and unnecessary meds. I had my little dog with simple ear infection and got a quote for $480. The proposed treatment included sedation, anesthesia, ear flush, laser treatment, three different antibiotics by injection, ear antibiotic drops to be administered at home, and some omega supplement. Needless to say I declined most of it and took my dog to another reasonable vet. Don't be lured to take your pet to this vet by offers like team buy, 25$ off your next visit if you refer a friend, 5$ off grooming and other coupons... You will probably pay back all you've saved through overpriced service fees and unneeded recommendations.Dishonest vet, I would not recommend.

Our visit was all about the up-sell! I was lead to believe I might save money by visiting this hospital but was I ever wrong. We went in for what should have been a straightforward issue and left with a recommendation for $700 worth of tests and treatment. The problem was solved at another hospital for less that $150 and my cat has been 100% ever since. Would NEVER recommend this hospital. It felt like a real rip-off!

Appointment began almost 1 1/2, and waiting room too warm- AC not working. Vet said my cat had fleas by placing blood on the table himself. Absolutely know my cat has had no exposure to fleas. Prescribed 6 months of earmite treatment when 3 months is adequate. Prescribed antibiotic and anti-inflammatory meds when they WERE NOT NECESSARY. I refused to pay for unneeded meds and the $500 bill was reduced to $120. We're never going back there again.

Had an appointment here for my dog, took a hour and a half. Staff spent more time on trying to sell me services and procedures not needed, than on diagnostics. Quoted $850.00 to $1000.00, for a treatment, that cost $250.00 at a another vet. Nice waiting room though. This place is more like a used car dealership than an animal clinic. Slick salespeople, try to get as much as they can for simple procedures. Beat advice, seek real medical attention elsewhere. These people are more focussed on money than an animals health. Their overall poor rating comes with a reason. Can't say enough BAD things about this place.

I had a tremendously positive experience at this clinic, when in the past at other clinic's I felt unimportant and rushed! They took the time to talk to me about my newly adopted shelter dog, who was really struggling with anxiety. They gave me great training suggestions, recommended a collar, that I can now walk my dog!!! Wow, she was dragging me all the time before when I tried to walk her. My dog also came home from the shelter coughing constantly, they treated it quickly and she's so much better. Dr. Zheng did such a good check up, her knees, her hips, her ears, tummy!! The nurses were so nice to my new girl, treats and lots of attention. This clinic is keeping me as a client.

He diagnosed my dog of cancer when she never had cancer and told me to put her down right a way luckily i got a second opinion and it turned out it was GVD
He will take payment from you before he does any work on your dog. He charged us $600 to run all these test then recommended to give my dog a $2000 surgery or just put her down immediately! I took my dog to another vet the next day only costing $90 and she doesn't even have cancer.
we've took him to court and filed a claim to the veterinarian association and only got half of our money back and he is still killing more dogs til this day.

We went to this veterinary clinic for the vets expertise. He is amazing. Unfortunately the veterinary tech make you feel the same high pressure sales as if you're purchasing a used car. I brace myself every time I know I have to go. I do love the vet he is the best. But, Petra in paticular makes me dread every visit.

I was looking for a new vet and tried two different clinics before visiting this one. My dog needed eye surgery for a lump and dental work. This clinic was my third try to have my dog assessed and get a quote. Just to say I was looking for someone who did a thorough exam, was knowledgeable and who my dog and myself felt comfortable with. Out of the three this clinic won hands down. The estimate came in a bit lower than the others but for us that was not necessarily the deciding factor. This vet pre-treated our dog with antibiotics (which none of the other vets had recommended) because she was running a fever and had an infection (again not determined previously). Surgery day a call informed us that there was additional dental work needed than previously known for which there was no extra charge. Going home meds given and clear care instructions and a follow-up call. I highly recommend this clinic, excellent care, excellent staff, very positive experience.

We have been taking our pets to Dr. Zheng for several years now. We have had nothing but good experiences with Dr. Zheng and his staff. Pricing is fair and on par with other clinics we've been to (vet care is expensive people, no matter where you go its just a fact of pet ownership).We find that Dr. Zheng and the staff are very knowledgable and are eager to educate us. We have taken our pets to another vet who for years kept prescribing antibiotics for our dogs ear infections, which only solved the problem short term. Dr. Zheng gets to the root of what is causing the issue (which in our case turned out to be allergies...a simple diet change and he has now been infection free for 3 years now!!).

Dr Zheng doesn't listen, or read the file before he comes into the room for the re-exam. His favorite word is estimate, and $1100 later, my cat is still sick. If I had found this website before going there instead of after, I would never have gone. Care wasn't good, didn't return phone calls (probably will charge for them too!)

Went to this clinic with my dogs and found them to be VERY expensive. Never had a bill under $500.00 for simple procedures. Dr. Zheng did laser surgery on my dog and he got infections and had to be on several courses of antibiotics which I was made to pay. I feel that I was taken advantage of financially, will never go back and won't recommend this vet clinic!

We had such a horrible experience! Dr. Zheng abused his authority as a doctor by using theatrics and being aggressive. He went straight to offering invasive, expensive surgery that would probably result in death or putting our cat down, when all he needed was to be catheterized. Thank goodness we got a second opinion from a good vet, otherwise our dear cat would be dead! We have friends who have also had very negative experiences at this hospital. We had a very stressful and upsetting night because of this doctor. I would not recommend this vet! Find a vet who actually cares for animals and not a vet who cares about money and practicing invasive surgery with fancy equipment!

dr.zheng is always polite & informative..we had our dog neutered there last year. have went for follow up shots/etc and they have always treated us well. they keep track of all recommened and mandatory work for you and will give you reminders as needed. they also will try and upsell you on a lot of products. Some we did buy and found them to be handy (walk master, ear cleaner).they do seem somewhat pricey, but i was willing to pay that for my dog. and coupons, look for coupons as they have them in mailouts, website, and if you call them. as we moved to the country,and have found a vet that also does good work, and is cheaper...so we won't be there as much but do appreciate the care they took of our beagle. staff is always friendly..

As the founder of an animal rescue organization, I frequently receive information about various vet clinics throughout the city. I have never received any positive feedback about the Animal Hospital of Manitoba. We have heard from dozens of unhappy foster and adoptive families who have had very bad experiences with this clinic. Negatives range from misdiagnosis to providing unnecessary and overly expensive tests and treatments. We do not recommend this clinic to our adoptive families

I took a kitten I found in my work parking lot in to be treated, because this was the closest vet. The kitten was suffering from malnutrition and had numerous wounds all over his body. The vet gave this kitten three vaccinations, FIV, Leukemia, and rabies. THis should not have been done given the kitten's poor health. This was completely irresponsible and dangerous to the kitten. I can only chalk this up to greed. I will never go back.

he is a great vet but very expensive. They give little welcome gifts, fridge magnets and notepads to all the new clients but I think it is a waste of money spent, and unnecessary. HIGH OVERHEAD COSTS!!! To many "frills" and not enough veterinary care at a reasonable cost...I wont go back.
