She is only there for the money and spends more time talking about her personal problems. I wish she was more interested in her patients health than her own problems. RID: 69725

8/12/19   5     5     5     5   love the vets & staff here! Our 1st dog, Spike, had symptoms that they relentlessly traced to an aggressive cancer- inoperable & not very responsive to chemo due to location. They were wonderful! Our 2nd dog, Maddie, is from a puppy mill so we knew there could be problems. She had a stroke- the vets here were most efficient in referring us to another vet w/ an interest in neurology here in Winnipeg AND then on to U of Sask Vet Clinic. She was diagnosed with a brain defect & will be on meds for the rest of her life. This same dog also had an episode of sudden vomitting & diarrhea that nearly killed her. Again they responded promptly & did everything right. She has fully recovered from both episodes with their care & monitoring. Everyone here clearly loves their jobs & it shows. They are warm and compassionate & take the time to explain what's happening. Maddie & her new pal, Buddy, are well taken care of here. Given the choice, I would never take my dogs anywhere else. Click to report rating    5/19/19   5     5     5     4   I have been taking my Myers parrot, Billie since I brought him home by plane( in a small carrier under the seat) in 2010. Always love the courteous and helpful staff. He’s only had one or two minor problems otherwise he just gets his wings clipped RID: 68039
Click to report rating    2/18/19   2     3     2     2   Lately they are all about social media and making a good impression online but in person the vet was late for the appt (Dr eichkorn) and threw her staff under the bus saying it was there fault etc when they were clearly run off there feet. I had to ask for an estimate 3 times and eventually gave up. They dismissed my concerns and eventually ended up going to another clinic to have the procedure done. RID: 67376
Click to report rating    4/25/18   1     1     1     1   100% would not recommend or trust this vet clinic after my last visit. My dog had gotten into some birth control while I was at work when I got home I googled if it was toxic. Upon my research it said it wasn’t but to be safe I called this vet clinic to make sure my puppy was going to be ok. After I called they said I had to get there immediately so they could induce vomiting before it got to his intestines trusting this vet I took him in, once they had done the procedure the vet brings him in and says it wasn’t toxic when she GOOGLED it especially the small amount he took. So why they would unethically put undo stress on my one year old puppy is completely upsetting to me not to mention charging me 100$ for it!!! I would not trust this vet clinic, clearly they are only in it for the financial gain ... it become more clear to me as she proceeded to try and sell me all these unnecessary pills and shots afterwards...I feel so taken advantaged of... so wrong. RID: 66026
7/25/17   2     3     2     1   I took my puppy there and was given antibiotics because my dog had diarrhea. I should mention that my dog is purebred, lives in the house and never goes outside unattended. I was told that my dog had gotten into the garbage (untrue) and now had a bacterial infection. This was incorrect as I found out that my dog had allergies and Addison's disease. The vets there especially Dr. Torvel are rude, unwilling to listen to pet parents and were not correct in their diagnosis. I would avoid at all cost. RID: 64265

1/28/15   3     3     2     2   Dr. Eikhorn seems okay but I found Torvall's manner to be brusque and almost patronizing. I got a sense it's about upselling - an eighteen year old cat, a year into renal failure and with a heart issue, and I'm being told I should clean her teeth ($500 basic, old cat you can bet there would have been pre-op blood work recommended). Guilt trip about more bacteria to those kidneys, said under the breath with a glance at the ceiling. Why wasn't the cleaning recommended when she was first diagnosed and was in okay shape for the anesthetic? It really felt like milk it while you can. I shared with a few friends, both of whom had similar stories. Also had animals in for issues that ended with wishy washy guess type diagnoses, $80 please, bring her back if it doesn't resolve.      8/22/14   1     2     2     1   I will never use this veterinary clinic again. The staff seemed passive aggressive and untrustworthy. I took my corn snake in with some discolouration of the scales that I suspected to be the early stages of scale rot, only to end up with them giving me no sure answer on what it was. The doctor seemed unsure of herself, and seemed to lack experience in reptile care/handling. She told me to stop using my under tank heat pad even though corn snakes (along with most other snakes) need belly heat to insure proper digestion of their food (temperature is regulated on the device.) She seemed more interested in getting me back for another overly expensive appointment than helping my snake. RID: 53220
3/20/14   1     3     3     3   Dr Eikhorn if the only good thing left about this clinic, and I have been going there for 15 years. The newer staff have been rude, negligent and like everyone here has noticed, arrogant and CONDESCENDING. Also told me my dog was overweight when I could still see his ribs. It's really too bad because I would follow Dr Eikhorn to the end of the world but the clinic has sadly gone downhill. RID: 50592
3/2/14   5     5     4     4   I have taken our bunny here for the last two years. I had been referred by another bunny owner, who warned me to go to a vet who knows about bunnies/smaller animals because not all do. I have been three times and all visits were positive. Clean rooms, nice staff ready to answer my questions. Really good with the bunny. They have given me advice on food (what to look for, what to avoid, how much to give) but do not push me to buy there. I can't compare prices b/c I haven't been elsewhere but they seem reasonable. RID: 50258
Click to report rating    2/24/14   5     5     5     5   I am surprised at some of the comments on here because our experience was nothing but positive. Our appointment was started right on time and the technician who took our information was friendly, knowledgable and very helpful. Dr. Eichkorn was our veterinarian and she was obviously very concerned about our dogs well being and comfort and he was crazy about her home made liver cookies! We felt that the exam fee we paid was well worth the money for the time that was spent with us. We will definitely go back! Keep up the good work! RID: 50086
Click to report rating    9/16/13   2     3     2     2   Have since left this clinic. Always lectured on my dog being overweight and constant pushing of their dog food. I always left this clinic feeling like I was the worst pet owner. Their reminder service is terrible and then if you do forget to get shots etc they make you feel back about missing!!! My new clinic is great and has pointed out various items that this clinic made mistakes on!! I will never recommend this clinic. RID: 46981
Click to report rating    9/2/13   5     4     5     5   We recently took our new 8 week old puppy here. We didn't have to wait too long. The facility was clean but the room was a little warm. Our Vet tech Shannon was very friendly and I liked that she gave us her business card. She gave us lots of good information and a lunch bag for our puppy. Our Vet was Dr Torevell. She was very good with our puppy. She gave us lots of good advice about dog foods and told us what to look for. She answered all our questions. She even gave our puppy a little bandana at the end of the appointment. I found the price reasonable for what we received. This was our first time visiting this clinic and we will definitely go back. RID: 46694
Click to report rating    8/3/13   3     5     2     1   Staff seemed nice enough, my questions got googled and they gave me a paper printed off the Internet . I will never take my hedgie there again ., they walked in the room with gloves on and a towel to pick him up and he wasn't even in a ball. Just seemed like they were not experienced like they said they were . They also told me bathing my hedgie is wrong and not to feed cat food .. Really expensive for a first check up , when they didn't do a good job checking him out they right away wanted to put him to sleep and kick me out of the exam room. And after that I waited 20 minutes to pay cos the girl was talking to her friend about plans for the weekend. Not impressed RID: 46061
7/9/13   1     1     1     1   Before I even got into my appointment, I was sitting there waiting (20min) late on my appointment, listening to the receptionists talking about other clients, as if I weren't even sitting there. When I finally got into the appt. the vet tech's were moody, rude, and snotty, not something I want to be dealing with when taking a sick pet to the Dr's. When I finally seen the Dr, they said there was nothing wrong which clearly there was an issue and to go home and see if the problem progressed in the next few days, (sounds like a money scam so I can pay for another exam fee), the room was filthy and covered in some other pets hair which only made my already scared dog even more on edge. I took my dog to another clinic the next day, only to find out he had stomach cancer. Something any vet should have been able to detect. Not impresses wouldnt take another one of my pets there again. RID: 43575
Click to report rating    1/28/13   5     5     5     5   I found a stray cat that was in bad shape and brought him in. He was such a nice cat but someone had poisoned him badly so there was not much we could do and we had to put him down. It was absolutely heart breaking and very hard for me, since I have never put a pet down before. The staff was so amazing in dealing wi me and "George"....that's what I was calling him. I'm sure this isn't always the case but they didn't charge me for anything. It is such a wonderful and comforting thing to know that this is a animal hospital truly dedicated to helping animals in need. It's not always a cash grab and I 100% recommend anyone to take there pet to Winrose. RID: 39987
Click to report rating    6/5/12   5     5     5     5   This is the only clinic I am willing to take my guinea pigs to for treatment, as no other clinic in the city seems knowledgeable enough to help. When I took one of our pigs to the emergency vet, for instance, I had to share info I had researched in order to get him the proper treatment. But at Winrose, they know what they're talking about and have always treated our guinea pigs well. They will even order large bales of timothy hay in for customers by special request, and the cost of their Oxbow guinea pig food is lower than anywhere else in the city. Highly recommended to guinea pig people in Winnipeg and area. RID: 34743
Click to report rating    2/15/12   5     5     5     5   We brought our gecko, Tequila in a few years ago as she had gotten quite skinny. I can't remember which vet examined her, but he had pointed out bruise-like areas on her belly that appeared to be abdominal bleeding. She used to climb the backdrop in her cage and we thought she may have fallen. She was quite weak at this point, and he offered to euthanize her as she would probably require quite agressive and costly treatment, and may not survive. At this point the vet informed us that we would not be charged an exam fee...even though he had spent quite a bit of time with us. Very caring, very compassionate! I wanted to bring my cat here a couple weeks ago, unfortunately they were closed already. I wish I had, because we ended up having an awful experience at McLeod Veterinary. RID: 32238
Click to report rating    12/31/11   5     5     5     4   I took my bunny there and I was early, but they letme in early. They seemed to know what they were doing when they were checking him out. Since I wanted to get him nuetered they checked to see if he was actually a he, turns out he was a girl. The staff are very friendly but the prices were a bit high. The exam room was clean and they even showed me out to clip my bun's nails. This is my bunny's first vet so I have really nothing to compare to. Her vet is Dr.Torevell! I think she is nice and gave me all the info I needed RID: 30167
Click to report rating    1/19/11   5     5     5     5   Dr. Eichkorn &Tovell are very good with Benny. They treat him like he is their own dog. I thouroughly trust them with his health care. My son took his dog there (Jet) but finally had to be put down.(stroke) The clinic was very helpful and showed sympathy for his family and myself. They treat your friend like their own. Won't go anywhere else RID: 22203

10/15/10   5     5     4     5   This is one of the friendliest veterinary hospitals I have ever been to!! The front desk staff is warm and really know their stuff. I had to wait about 10 minutes for my appointment because they were tending to an emergency but I was kept updated on the wait and I know that my pet would receive the same type of emergency care if needed. I called around to several other hospitals and they were very cost comparable (if not cheaper) for my dog's surgery (spay). The facility is clean and tidy and they have a great group of 'pet greeters' in the waiting area....You'll have to stop by to visit to see for yourself. I couldn't ask for a better veterinary care facility! Keep up the great work! RID: 20322
Click to report rating    8/21/10   5     5     5     5   We have been taking our cats here for years - the staff are very friendly, accommodating and caring! Have dealt with all 3 vets, all are wonderful. Would highly recommend! RID: 19340
Click to report rating    5/29/10   5     5     5     4   Been dealing for along time and have been very pleased with the service and the front staff are fatntastic along with the vets RID: 18161
Click to report rating    5/7/10   2     3     2     3   I recently took my parakeet to see Dr. Torevell, and it was a horrible experience for both my bird and myself. She and the vet tech were brusque and rough when handling him; he was absolutely terrified and hyperventilating and she informed me AFTER the exam that birds sometimes die from the stress of an exam (something that a pet owner should be told BEFORE consenting to a procedure!). When they finally let him go, he had several broken feathers and was wheezing and panting from stress. Positive features: The front desk staff were quite friendly, and I found the fees reasonable, although I have not been to other clinics so I have nothing to compare to. However, I will not return to that clinic unless I absolutely have to, due to Dr. Torevell's complete lack of bedside manner; I am unable to to trust someone who doesn't even seem to care that the animal in her hands is terrified and uncomfortable. RID: 17844
4/20/09   1     4     4     1   I will never take my birds here again, Nancy is mentally unstable, untrustworthy, and much too supportive of Puppy mills. RID: 12502
