I haven't been visiting this clinic long (routine titers and wellness), however my dog recently became very ill with a GI problem that escalated over a matter of hours. I took him to MC and they quickly put him on IV and started to look for the root of the problem. Because he was only a 5lb chihuahua, unfortunately the infection just took over and he was gone within hours. MC has been compassionate, and understanding. They did everything they could for him. I couldn't be more happy with their services under terrible circumstances. I do feel that many vets I have visited in the past are gold diggers and ask for a lot of
unnecessary tests and prescribe too many drugs and products for their own gain, but MC really has the interest of the owner and the animal at heart. I do feel that their rates are comparable with other clinics. It's vet care. You get what you pay for. Vet techs Kate and Jennifer are absolutely amazing. I can't thank them enough.

Janice has been our vet for almost 10 years, thru 2 cats and 3 dogs and we continue to visit her even though we now live over an hour away. We had to put down our 11 year old husky a few years ago and it was handled in the most compassionate manner that something like that could have been, the staff were gentle and caring as they always are, and we never felt rushed. We are even allowed to bring our 2 cats and 2 dogs into the exam room together because they are slightly more comfortable when together. I love Janice's method of considering each vaccine on it's own merits, educating us about our options, and holistic treatments that helped us avoid surgery. She is a strong advocate of the raw diet and I believe it has made our pets healthier. I understand that she may not be taking new pets at this time and I'm glad that we are 'already in'!

I had my first appt at Mosquito Ck yesterday for my 13-yr old border collie. We saw Dr Tonya Allen and hands down, it was the most amazing and positive vet experience we've ever had. I've seen many vets over the years and think Mosquito Ck is in a league of its own. The receptionist was lovely. Dr Allen greeted my dog with warmth and gentility, she instantly read his personality, and gave him a very thorough and careful physical exam. He is typically aloof and not affectionate but he really relaxed with her and trusted her. She gave me excellent advice about care for my aging dog and offered a very balanced suite of options to deal with his aches and arthritis, including both homeopathic (acupuncture, herbal) and traditional (anti-inflam) treatments. The examining rooms are large and comfortable and we were treated so well. I've found my vet to care for my dog through his golden years.

Dr. Crook (Janice) has been our vet for many years and several dogs and cats, and we've always felt that we're in the best hands with her considerate and knowledgeable care and a thoughtful balance between conventional and alternative treatments. I'm always impressed at her ability to diagnose problems when the patient can't tell her what's happening! She always has helpful suggestions for saving money (like using equivalent human remedies and medications). Consultations are never rushed and Janice always makes an effort to have the pet feel at ease. We became clients for life during the terminal illness of one of our dogs, when Janice went above and beyond the call of duty to maximize his comfort (and ours) in his final days. I'm really surprised by some of the reviews here - sounds like a different vet altogether!

After using this vet for a while (I liked the concept of more natural treatment), I regret to have to leave a poor rating. My 10-year-old dog developed extremely foul breath. It seemed to come in waves and I knew something was wrong. Dr. Crook looked in her mouth, said she had a broken tooth but that there appeared to be no decay-odour and that "if the tooth abscesses, you will know because she will get a lump on the side of her face" or words to this effect. I was charged a consultation fee and provided with deworming tablets. A couple of months on (and the odour not abating), my husband noticed she was shivering in his arms. I sensed she was in pain and took her to Norgate Veterinary for a 2nd opinion. She was anaesthetized the following day, her teeth scaled and the broken tooth extracted. She had a fully exposed nerve! Since her extraction, she has been much happier and her breath is normal. I am very disappointed in this lack-of-diagnosis and have moved both dogs to the other vet.

Dr. Tonya Khan offered veterinary service with the utmost compassion and professional attendance, however management of this Vet messed up big time. We recently had our new puppy spayed. They quoted $125. When I arrived to pick up the dog they were going to charge $285. I told them that this is not what I was quoted, and pointed to the written and signed quote that was in their file. They then said this was a mistake and it should be $285, so that is what they were going to charge me. I then said “No, I will pay what I was quoted and management can give me a call so that we can discuss the issue tomorrow (no one from management was available at the time). I never got a call, but about 6 weeks later I got a letter saying that they ‘no longer wanted us as customers’ and we should find another Vet. We were very disheartened to discover that we would not be able to continue our relationship with Dr. Khan. We feel that management handled this whole issue very unprofessionally.

My cat recently passed but he lived to 15 years old and received excellent care at Mosquito Creek. All the staff are kind, caring and informative. Dr. Crook provides her expert opinion and solicits your feedback about the treatment prescribed. She gives you information, suggestions and options and the rest is up to you and the pet. Yes, I too put my cat on a raw diet and had good success and it allowed me to decrease meds other vets prescribed. Some complain of the expense of Mosquito Creek, perhaps you are familiar with the saying "you get what you pay for?" You many be unaware of the great cost of medical treatment for humans because your insurance company reimburses for your fees? If you love your pet, don't want heroics but good solid advice and are happy to accept that when a pet's time is up they will pass or be euthanized at the right possible moment, then go to Mosquito Creek. If not, kindly find another vet, get the care you feel you and your pet deserve and everyone wins.

We have been with Janice for 12 years now and would never trust our dogs with anyone else. The dogs love going for their check ups and the care is excellent.

I took my 10 year old cat to this vet on October 16th because his fur was falling out. Today is December 4th. She told me it was "probably" the Hartz flea product I had put on him, that was making his fur fall out. She also did a blood test but - didn't bother to tell me the results! I took him to another vet and discovered he had an infection which required anti-biotics, which Janice Crook didn't tell me about and - DID NOT GIVE ME ANY ANTI-BIOTICS FOR HIM ! My cat has now lost 70% of his fur and half of his body weight ! The responsible vet I took him to has told me that MY CAT MAY DIE - due to her incompetence and negligence ! Don't take your pet here if they're sick ! She won't bother telling you -ALL ! - of the information you need to know to heal them ! She is a careless, irresponsible vet ! Don't waste your money or your time !!

We have relied on Janice and her superlative veterinary team for care, advice, and treatment of 2 cats, and 3 dogs over the past 10 years. For our cat TC when he was hit by a car, Mosquito Creek saved his life and held our hand through the whole ordeal. He's still going strong 4 years later:) With Rocky my late 14 year old Lab he just loved the whole experience anytime he had a visit. Mosquito Creek helped us HUGELY by guiding us to the proper food for Rocky and our other Lab, Holly...the improved diet added years to their life. And now Riley, our Golden gets the same level of care and respect. The consistency of professional knowledge, care, and advice is far above our previous experience with veterinary care.Simply, our pets and my daughters and I could not recommend their services more highly. We love this clinic. She walked us through our very hyper dog with a plethera of allergies. Then our next dog as a puppy had a rare case of meningitis that Janice recognized immediately and referred us to a neurologist immediately and our dog survived. Yes vet care is not inexpensive but when you love your pet get some pet insurance and the cost will be minimal. Her ability to integrate naturopathic remedies with western medicine is appreciated; as well as finding out what is causing the problem rather than simply treating the symptom. She is a true professional and caring individual.

Janice was the best vet we saw in caring for our dogs. Our 10 year old large breed dog was diagnosed with cancer. Other vets recommended surgery. Janice talked us through all the options that included diet change, herbal meds, and respected we were not inclined to do surgery - she suggested that our goal be to have him out live the cancer and die of natural causes.
We did not do surgery but a mix of traditional meds, herbs and diet modification. Janice was ok to be challenged on her views and respected our decisions in terms of accepting/declining her suggestions.
Our dog passed today 4 years after first seeing Janice - cause of death - old age.
Thank you Janice

I bring my small dog here and have nothing but good things to say. Janice has always looked out for my dog's well being as her #1 priority. She has been honest about pros/cons of treatments. She is far from being money hungry as others have said below. I've been in a different province to work for the past few months and admit to coming home to BC early just to see Janice because my dog needs to see a vet and I don't trust anyone else. I've also always received exceptional customer service from all staff members. Lastly, they do not push a raw diet onto every patient, no idea what others are talking about. I've been to many many many vets before and in my opinion, Janice is excellent at what she does.

Horrible customer service, horrible vet. It's too long a story to type out but I've never felt so angry with the lack of caring these people showed. It was all about the $$$$.

We have been going to Mosquito Creek (mostly Janice) for a number of years, previously for our dog, more recently our cat. We have always been treated well and had very good care for our pets. We believe our dog outlived his cancer prognosis by four years partly because of the high level of care Janice provided. We have also felt well respected there. The strength of some of the negative comments make me wonder about potential personality clash in some situations.

I heard good things about them so decided to give them a try. I brought my dogs there to be seen by Janice Crook on a few occasions. I get the vibe that she thinks she knows everything and the whole situation already even though she doesn't. She TELLS you what to do, not make suggestions. At the slightest hint that I was a bit doubtful and they sensed I was having second thoughts on a diagnosis, they basically sent me out the door and said they would be glad to transfer my dog's file to a vet of my choice. Very professional (sarcasm)...not.

I've seen both main vets at this location and always walk out feeling DISSATISFIED even after a hefty bill. There are better holistic and alternative clinics than this one by far! Would not recommend.

It's all about the money. Their estimates for any procedures require you to sign a document with an estimate that states. "This esimate only approximates the cost of this visit. It does not include any treatments that may be deemed necessary upon examination and commencement of the included treatments. You are responsible for all fees incurred during this visit included or not on this estimate." And it continues. Be assured that the health of your dog is our highest concern and we will do everything possible to maintain that health. Basically a blank cheque.

Janice Crook misdiagnosed my dog!!! Then I had to spend more money bringing my dog to see another vet, who _finally_ was able to tell me what was wrong. I'm not impressed and do not recommend this clinic.
