Click to report rating    4/22/21   5     5     5     5   Our family has known Dr. Hannah for close to 20 years. A salt-of-the-earth personality, she has been everything one could wish for in a skilled and compassionate veterinarian. Even before we had a family pet, Dr. Hannah graciously gave our then very young daughter and her friends a tour of the veterinary clinic as part of her birthday party. The children were quite impressed. When we finally had our Labrador Retriever puppy there was no question that Dr. Hannah would be our vet. Our dog is close to 14 years old now and has always loved coming to the clinic. We just have to say “Come, we’re going to see Dr. Hannah!” and she’ll be leading the way, wagging her tail. Dr. Hannah has taken good care of all of us, owners included, answering questions and respectfully, yet frankly, engaging in any issues that come up. Her superior ability as an animal surgeon and her diagnostic skills helped our beloved Lab to lead a good life. Without reservation, we highly recommend Dr. Hannah and staff. K RID: 69926
Click to report rating    8/10/20   5     5     5     5   My gratitude to Dr.Hannah & her team to take care of my small dog 18 years up to last second of her life. I did not know Dr.Hannah until months ago when finally decided to change my vet. for lack of paying attention to her symptoms which I was telling them. Dr. Hannah diagnosed her with advanced hypothyroid, it affected the other organs. If you look for a Vet. who is not after money but about the welfare of your pet, I highly recommend her & her team. Click to report rating    3/13/18   1     3     3     1   We used to bring our dog to Dr. Hannah. However, we left after Dr. Hannah provided us with incorrect instructions for administering medication to our dog. Initially we were blamed for not following her instruction, and after we provided the written directions she gave us, she acknowledged they were incorrect but did not apologize and charged us the full amount for her shoddy work. A year later our dog escaped her walk, was found and brought to Dr. Hannah's clinic, scared and cold, and Dr. Hannah and her staff refused to take her as she was no longer a patient. (Dr. Hannah often takes in strays and escaped pets. Just not those that leave after bad experiences.) Very disappointed and dismayed by this clinics spitefulness and arrogance. RID: 65748
Click to report rating    5/5/17   1     1     1     1   I worked for these ppl before and do not give these ppl money doctor hannah has no remorse for the animals and treats them like objects she does her job merely for money worst vet I've ever seen and worked for RID: 63552
Click to report rating    2/3/17   2     4     4     3   I recently lost my beloved cat. When I took his body to the clinic to leave him there after signing the cremation papers,I met with one of the vets. Her response to my grief was extremely disappointing. She spoke to me in a condescening manner, didn't show any empathy at all,and instead proceeded to tell me what I should have done.I know there could have been a million and one things I could have done, but to show that kind of disrespect to someone who just lost one of their fur babies is not the right way or time to inform someone that there may have been other options.I feel that it's so important for vets to foster good relationships with the guardians of their furry patients. If that relationship is not great, our pets suffer due to lack of communication and lack of medical information to help us be better-informed about risks that our pets may be susceptible to.The vet didn't seem to care much about my loss.I'm looking for a more compassionate vet for my senior kitty.  10/6/16   5     5     5     5   Our family has been taken care of by this vet clinic for about 20 years. We went there, several decades ago, when they were rated the best vets in the city by NOW magazine. I still make the journey to see them because of the excellent service, kindness, caring and attention to detail offered as part of the care of my golden retrievers ( I have had 7 of them in my life, 4 taken care of by Dr Hanna and colleagues. Best care, family centred care of my 4 legged and a great bed side manner and educative program for best care based on evidence based health care. RID: 61765

7/21/16   3     4     2     1   I'm strongly considering leaving this clinic after 3 years. Each time I go, I end up paying WAY more than I was led to believe I would. I often leave feeling tricked into expensive tests and treatments--that I discover are expensive after the fact. The vets are not forthcoming about treatment options. Wait times for scheduled appointments have ranged between 10 and 25 minutes for me. The vets seem competent, however, and the facility is nice. Recommended only if you're looking to burn money on your pet. RID: 61155
Click to report rating    6/26/15   1     3     1     1   I had a very poor experience. They recommended many expensive tests without explaining why they were necessary for what appeared to be quite a minor issue. I have no issues spending money when necessary for the health of our family dog and have spent a great deal over the years to ensure his health; however, I need to know why I am spending money and there was no explanations provided. The vet I saw, who was named Nancy Miller, was also very dismissive and rude and left a very bad taste in my mouth. RID: 57547
Click to report rating    1/6/15   3     3     4     2   I have to say I do miss seeing Dr. Scalzo. She is the most compassionate veterinarian I have ever met. My cat is almost 20 years old and Dr. Scalzo has helped keep her around and healthy. When my cat was sick and had to stay in the hospital Dr. Scalzo would cook for her. I have never met a vet who would bring food from home to make sure the animal ate. My Pumpkin loved the roasted chicken breast. Also, Dr. Scalzo is not judgemental and does not force you to do anything you are not comfortable with. She works in baby steps so you are not spending a fortune for no reason. Dr. Hannah is good too. She's just very different and can be a bit crude at times. I find her non professional sometimes especially when she swears in front of you or scolds her staff in front of you. RID: 55331
Click to report rating    10/23/14   2     3     3     2   This clinic ran a lot smoother when Dr. Scalzo was there. And it was easier to get an appointment. Dr. Scalzo cared for the animals. It wasn't just money for her. My dogs loved seeing her. She would give them treats and actually sit on the floor with them. She would take her time explaining things and we never felt rushed with her. I can't say that's true for the other vets. Also Dr. Scalzo did a lot of the surgeries at this clinic. The last time I was in there was a sick cat that needed emergency surgery. Dr. Scalzo knew how to do the surgery and her replacement vet did not. (Dr. Scalzo was also 9 months pregnant at the time). How I know this is because the replacement vet admitted she did not know how to do it in front of other clients. Dr. Scalzo dropped everything to save this cat's life. This is what a veterinarian should be like. I hope dr. Scalzo comes back soon. My understanding is she will be back next year. She is on maternity leave. I will book my appointments when she is ba RID: 54259

10/20/14   1     4     4     1   I have had several instances where I was charges for services without my consent/discussion. Even when I brought this up the staff got on their high horse (excuse the pun) and was quoting College regulations. Of course not the regulation about informed consent..... . Adios! RID: 54185
Click to report rating    2/19/14   5     5     5     5   We have taken two (stray) pets to the clinic. From the receptionists to the doctors, the team is wonderful. The prices are very reasonable, which is good for us, because taking in strays in not something that is usually planned for financially. Dr. Hannah is caring & ethical. We love her bedside manner. She is a cat whisperer. We are confident that while at this clinic our pets will get the best care. RID: 49946

Click to report rating    3/12/13   4     4     4     3   We had faith in this clinic for years but, were sadly disappointed by a number of grave errors that were made by the doctors/by-passed crucial/critical diagnoses that should have been picked up by these vets who knew our pets for years. We must trust our vets but, having done a lot of self-research on our animal's conditions, we found information and treatments that the doctors had misdiagnosed. We found that Dr. Swarney seems to play "second-fiddle" to Dr. Hannah who can be extremely condescending, treating patient's owners as though they couldn't possibly understand more complicated terms and explains your pet's health issues to you as though you are a child. Thankfully, we did our own research and refused to euthanize a pet upon her insistence, taking our pet elsewhere for treatment and get well. If you are to stay with this clinic, do your own research as well. Get second opinions if necessary to make decisions. Prices were not out of line with other vets at the time. RID: 41020
Click to report rating    1/14/13   5     5     5     5   The staff are all friendly and knowledgeable! The care my Bella is receiving is astounding. Thanks Dr Scalzo and staff! RID: 39612
Click to report rating    9/2/12   1     1     1     1   Dr. Hannah has absolutely no class and no ethics. There are better places than this clinic around. RID: 36961
Click to report rating    8/7/12   5     5     5     5   I can't say enough about how great this clinic is. I have a dog with a number of health issues and have been using this clinic for the past 4 years. They have been so accommodating, understanding, and helpful. Admittedly, it took me a while to get used to Dr. Hannah's "bedside manner", but she knows her stuff and you just have to ask lots of questions. Dr. Scalzo is incredible and is a very compassionate Dr. RID: 36315
Click to report rating    6/15/12   3     3     4     5   I have only used this clinic twice so far,but have been very impressed. The prices have been excellent compared to other vets in the area, and all tests/extra were clearly outlined and presented as options. They can be a little hasty in calling for full anesthetics though, and the office is very busy - but usually that is the sign of a good vet, as they have a lot of repeat business.  6/15/12   3     5     2     1   Was quoted 800 for a procedure they do regularly and was charged 1600. Their standard contract is that once your pet is in they can do any procedure and charge any amount so be ware that any price they quote beforehand is a fiction. Staff tends to be on the rude side and the clinic is often overbooked. The checkup prices are on the high side and the checkups themselves are rushed, probably because they're overbooked. This clinic should be avoided. RID: 34995

6/14/12   1     1     1     1   These people are absolute crooks. I went in for a dental estimate, and they quoted me $1500. I didn't know what to say, but I figured that was the price. Turns out they were completely trying to rip me off. I took my dog into another vet, and called a couple on the phone, and ALL of them said $700 or less! Yes! I was in complete shock that they would try to steal peoples' money like this. Avoid these guys like the plague! RID: 34974

Click to report rating    1/31/12   5     5     4     5   Friendly professional staff, affordable care,a positive part of the neighbourhood since forever! RID: 31919
Click to report rating    4/18/11   5     5     5     5   Absolutely top notch. We had to make the unimaginable decision to put our pet down, 3 days ago. Dr. Hannah and the fantastic staff at St. Clair Veterinary couldn't have been more kind and patient. From the numerous check ups over the years, to her emotional last appointment, they treated my cat like one of their own. They were also top notch at handling my grief over the loss, and I will be forever grateful. Over the years, I have never seen an animal unhappy to be there - they are always being showered with attention, with tails wagging. I can't say enough good things about this vet! RID: 24465
Click to report rating    4/12/11   5     5     5     5   I have been bringing all of my animals which include ferrets, a cat and 3 dogs (two of which have passed on) to this clinic for over 10 years. All of the vets that have seen my little friends have been extremely informative and concise with their diagnosis. Lets face it, vet procedures cost money and if you don't have the resources to pay for your family members care, not only when they are well but when they are in need, then maybe you should limit the number of new family members you take on. Just recently I got bad news about my dog and the doctors were very up front and compassionate with the decision that I had to make. It was hard, for my own selfishness, I wanted to keep my boy but after talking with the vets, I came to the decision that the vets were right, my boy had lived a good life and even though it was hard for me to see him go, it would be in the best interest of my best little buddy. Thanks St. Clair Vet for being my family doctors. RID: 24337

4/11/11   4     3     4     2   I went to this clinic for years with my cat - it was close to home. But having been to a couple more clinics in the city, I realize now how expensive they are. And yes, after reading reviews, I recall being charged for a surgery that I didn't authorize. I brought my cat in to be groomed, which they anesthetized her for, and later found out that they had gone in to remove a growth/lump in her leg (which I never noticed). Dr. Hannah does have a way with animals and my cat liked her, which is somewhat important. When my cat was diagnosed with kidney failure at 16, another vet at the clinic saw us and gave me a very optimistic prognosis. I was told she would do well with subcutaneus fluids and this medication and that procedure...but, luckily I moved and saw a new vet closer to home. He was much more realistic about treating a 16 year old cat with this illness. We decided it was best to put her down, and not only did it end her suffering, it saved me thousands i'm sure.      4/7/11   2     4     3     3   We have brought our dog to this clinic for the past year or so. The staff are rude and always seem to be in a rush. We had heard good things about Dr. Hannah, but we found her to be rushed and not clear about different options for certain treatments, prescription foods, etc. Our whole experience there was just strange and we didn't get very good vibes from any staff or doctors. We also found their pricing to be quite expensive and we were charged for procedures that were never discussed or approved by us. We have since moved on to Bathurst Dupont Animal hospital where Dr. Koroknai and his staff are fantastic and charge more affordable rates for services discussed, approved and rendered. RID: 24207
Click to report rating    3/6/11   4     4     5     4   I've been bringing my cats to Dr. Hannah for years. Recently I saw the new vet there and was amazed on her compassion, caring nature. My cat was very ill and needed to stay in the hospital. She explained what tests needed to be done, why they needed to be done and the cost of everything. I never felt pressured to do anything and was aware of all costs. Yes, they can be a little expensive but I know people who take their pets to other clinics and they pay almost double for the same thing. The vets are knowledgeable and from my experience they will not do anything to your animal unless you say it's OK. I would and have recommended this clinic to other people, and they all have been pleased with the service they've received. RID: 23367
Click to report rating    2/25/11   3     2     3     1   Found this clinic to be offensively expensive!!! Charged $389.00 for a 35 minute check-up of our cat. They were very quick with the appoinent and now we see why. Did a whole bunch of tests etc. that were never authorized or explained and had a very poor attitude to boot. AVOID!!! RID: 23156
Click to report rating    4/5/10   5     5     5     5   I came to St. Clair Veterinary with a very ill cat that I ended up putting down. Dr Hannah was amazing and her staff couldn't have been more kind. Dr Hannah also arranged to test his brother and the disease was caught in time to slow the progession. It's easy to get an appointment, the staff is great at answering questions or following up with the doctors, all the work is explained beforehand and you are given good information about treatment. RID: 17380
Click to report rating    10/23/08   5     4     5     5   Dr Hannah came highly recommended - but we ended up with Dr Ann Swarmy. We are so happy to have found Ann. We never feel pushed into any extra annual check-ups (like many dog owners I know who spend $300 or more at every annual visit). A happy healthy dog doesnt need that kind of attention - but so many of the clinics in our area over test and over prescribe. RID: 10359
