Click to report rating    2/13/20   5     5     5     5   Dr Bokneck and the vet techs are amazing here at Abbotsford animal clinic. We have two Boston terriers and they both receive the best care. Our newest addition lemon was just spayed with such a reasonable price and they always make sure you are fully informed with all your aftercare. I know lemon enjoys seeing them every time she goes for a visit ! RID: 69054

Click to report rating    8/20/18   2     2     1     1   “Show Me The Money” should be the official slogan of this horrible veterinary clinic. Unnecessary, expensive tests. Vets that seem to want to baffle people with jargon & nonsense. Very rude staff. Bring a couple of credit cards and your earplugs, you are going to need both! RID: 66674

8/17/15   2     3     4     2   I had a terrible experience here several years ago. I was never fully impressed with the clinic but a friend of mine highly recommended them. Every visit I was given an estimate for work up, then my bill was always at least double that and until the bill was paid in full I was never even allowed to see my dog. Dr Cole did a cruciate repair, but the knee never fully healed. I ended up having to go to a secondary specialist to have the repair done properly. The orthopedic vet I saw said the original repair was done poorly. I have also heard stories from previous employees who spoke of the treatment they endured. I would never go back. EVER RID: 58082

5/5/14   5     5     5     5   We have been seeing the team at this clinic for over 15 years now and I cannot say a bad thing about them. They are always available, always friendly and always knowledgeable. They care so much not only about the patients but about their families and there's something really touching in seeing a vet tech just as sad to lose a canine member of a family as the family itself. It shows you how much they care. This is a clinic run by people who love animals-for people who love animals-this is shown in everything they do. RID: 51420

4/29/14   1     1     1     1   The worst veterinary clinic I've ever been to (having dog and cat for 9 years and having lived in 3 different cities)! Arrogant attitude of staff, who WOULD NOT LET YOU SEE YOUR DOG UNTIL YOU MAKE A FULL PAYMENT!!! Doctors don't seem to be able to talk about anything but MONEY, made us to go for over thousand dollars of tests to give an expensive medication that did not work (eventually the problem was resolved by mobile vet who diagnosed the problem just by looking at the dog and prescribing a different antibiotic.) Well... I understand that everybody wants to make living and a GOOD one (by the way we have an insurance and paying is not a problem) but it looks like the main objective of this clinic is to GET A BIG BUCKS from you and if you expect a professional service from them in exchange - they seem to consider it YOUR PROBLEM OF EXCESSIVE EXPECTATIONS...  3/27/14   5     5     5     5   Fantastic place staffed by people who truly love animals! I am confident that when I take my dogs to Abbotsford, they are receiving the best possible care. Knowledgeable, sensitive staff with a sense of humour puts both dogs and their parents (cats too I suppose) at ease. The facility is large and comfortable with updated technology. At times you need to wait but it only means you will get the same level of attention when it is your animal's turn. Monetarily speaking, some may say it is more expensive, but in this case, you never have to question if you are getting your money's worth. My dogs and I thank you guys!!! :) RID: 50728

4/12/13   5     5     5     5   I have taken my beloved pets to this clinic for 10 years. In that time I have come to know and respect the staff there-especially Dr. Dereck Clark. He is thorough, logical and does a great job of using practical clinical judgement to ensure unnecessary testing is avoided. I am very comfortable entrusting the health of my four legged family members to him and his staff. The people who may have complained about the cost really need to face reality-having a animal can be a financial burden. If they can't afford veterinary care for them, then they really should think twice about owning a pet in the first place! Nothing is free is this world so why should good veterinary care be? Those who complain about the fees should consider the cost involved to staff and run a practice on the scale of this clinic. Get real people! That's what pet insurance is for. If you want a great Vet for your pets, make an appointment to see Dr. Clark. You won't be disappointed!!!! RID: 41735
Click to report rating    3/14/13   5     3     3     1   This is a nice clinic and the counter staff seem nice; however, after a $200+ vet bill for an ear infection/lab fees/meds, my dog got worse. She did better with polysporin.. After four days on the new meds from Dr. my dog would yelp whenever we touched her ear. I called to discuss, but was told it woudl be another $35 + likely another cleaning + likely another lab work + likely more meds?!?!?! I could post date payment for 4-days/payday, the message was.. "sorry your dog is in pain, but we don't wait for payment, let her suffer and call back when you have money"... I'm going in to get another prescription, but I already know that the cost will likely be over $100, and I don't want to start all over with another vet (recently moved to area, was the first time I'd gone to this vet or any in this area).. This is clearly a business run for strictly monetary reasons. If you do go, don't pay for the lab work, it clearly makes no difference, they prescribe based on trial and error anyway. RID: 41069
Click to report rating    2/27/13   5     5     5     4   We love the staff and the care that our Princess Mia receives from Abbotsford!! The staff are all amazing, especially Charlene & Annette and Dr. Clark. They treat and care for Mia like she's there own. I would HIGHLY recommend Abbotsford to anyone who has a pet that they love!! Click to report rating    2/19/13   5     5     5     4   Dr. Clark is the only vet that I see each time I go to Abbotsford Animal Hospital. He cared for my cat for 19 years until her death and currently cares for my new one year old cat. He is extremely personable, knowledgeable of all aspects of Veterinary medicine, explains all options clearly and in understandable language and is a truly caring person! When my 19 year old cat passed away recently, he went above and beyond to ensure that I was informed of her condition and not only cared for her but cared how I and my family felt about losing her. Also, the desk staff and animal technicians at Abbotsford are friendly and you can tell that they really do love animals! Highly recommend Dr. Clark and his staff! RID: 40557
Click to report rating    2/11/13   5     5     5     5   The staff at Abbotsford have been taking care of our animal family for over 15 years. Over those years we have had the pleasure of working with all 4 of the vets (Drs. Cole, Bocnek, Clark and Hanna)and deeply appreciate each of them for their own areas of expertise. They have been knowledgeable and skilled with all aspects of care that our pets have needed from routine check-ups and vaccinations to complex and acute surgical and medical cases, cancer, and end of life care. With emergencies they have repeatedly told us to 'just bring him/her in' and they respond quickly and professionally. The staff are compassionate, warm and caring... Anne, Annette, Tamara just to name a few. The doctors have been responsive to changes in our financial ability to care for our furry family and readily offer us options and costing in a respectful manner, while prioritizing good medical care. The facility is large, clean, accessible and well thought-out. The atmosphere is welcoming and caring. RID: 40338

Click to report rating    2/7/13   5     5     5     5   Just wanted to add an additional note of praise for this Clinic. Similar to what others have written in their ratings, my experience has been wonderful. Almost 12 years ago I brought my new pup to their facility, fingers crossed that I would find a vet that would care for him as deserved. Dr. Clark has never waivered in his professionalism, knowledge and respect for the importance my dog has in my life. In each visit I have appreciated Dr. Clark's thoughtful presentation of the treatment options available all with an eye to great care and meeting my budget. My guy is an active dog and as such he and I have needed the services of Abbotsford on more than one occasion! I have found all of the Doctors and staff complement exceptional! RID: 40238
Click to report rating    2/6/13   5     5     5     5   This was my first visit and I was impressed. The staff and Dr. Clarke were very nice and professional, especially Annette who was sweet to my dog Qawi. The facilities were clean. I was pleased with the overall experience. RID: 40212
Click to report rating    2/1/13   5     5     5     5   I’ve been bringing my two dogs to Abbotsford for close to 4 years. I have never seen such commitment and customer service as I have witnessed here. The love and dedication to their clients (animal or human) surpasses all expectations. I am taken care of by Dr. Bokneck and Dr. Clark, their skills and compassion for my dogs are extraordinary! The rest of the staff are tremendous, warm and thoughtful. When our family pet passed away we were walked through the process and they were all there for us, some shedding tears and all offering comfort. RID: 40094
Click to report rating    1/31/13   5     5     5     5   After visiting several different vet clinics and not really feeling satisfied with the various care offered, we were thrilled to have found Abbotsford!! From the amazing, friendly front-desk staff, to the groomer, to the kennel staff who always ensure that our dog is exhausted and happy at the end of a daycare day to the attentive, knowledgeable vets, we found that this clinic encompasses everything we were looking for. Our main vet is Dr. Bocknek. I can't say enough about him! When it was time to put our 14 year old dog down, Dr. Bocknek walked us through the entire process - even stopping by our home to check in on us the day before the procedure to see how both our dog and we were doing. We will be forever grateful for his kind, compassionate, knowledgeable manner. This clinic is truly a one-stop vet clinic and we have been happy to send our friends there for care of their animals. RID: 40080
Click to report rating    1/31/13   5     5     5     5   I have been dealing with this clinic since I got my dog over 2 years ago. The staff at the front desk are very friendly. I deal mainly with Dr. Bockneck, however, I have also seen Dr. Cole and Dr. Clark. All 3 vets are knowledgeable and take the time to explain what is going on and what the course of treatment will be. The instructions you leave with are very thorough and the documentation is fantastic. The office hours are great- there is a vet available later on some nights, and there is a vet available on Saturdays and Sundays. That has definitely been useful on several occasions! I would not hesitate to recommend this clinic to anyone who loves their pet and wants to provide thorough care. RID: 40078
Click to report rating    1/30/13   5     5     5     5   I have been using this clinic for 8 years and through two dogs. My first has a very complex set of problems and the staff and doctors have not only kept her alive against all odds but she also leads a very happy and normal existence. They don't just treat the animals - they care deeply for each and every one. They are welcoming, know each pet's name and health history without looking at the files and rarely do I wait for service. I have dealt with all the vets at one time or another and each has his own specialty and it is nice to see how they all interact to utilize each other's strengths. RID: 40046
Click to report rating    1/17/13   5     5     5     5   We have been long-term clients at the Abbotsford Animal Hospital for the past ten years! We find the our dogs have always been given wonderful care in every sense. The staff is not only kind, and courteous, but also compassionate and caring. Out of the four veternarians, we have dealt mainly with one in particular, Dr. Derek Clark. His gentle manner and kindness only match his extremely competent, and technical skills! It has always been a pleasure to bring our two dogs to the clinic. We have always been greated with a smile from the front desk and have enjoyed getting to know everyone for the past ten years. Our dogs are very much at ease while there and have always been treated with a gentle hand, and kind words. I would highly recommend the clinic to anyone looking for not only a veternarian, but also a fully equipped hospital for their pets. RID: 39708
Click to report rating    1/10/13   4     4     3     1   This clinic is clean and has friendly staff, but it is a complete rip off. If you do go there and your bill sounds ridiculous, I'd suggest take your pet for a second opinion. The vets decide to order a bunch of tests that really seem unnecessary, but I don't know better, since I've never had a pet before. My dog had an eye infection and they gave me eye drops for him...after two weeks, his eye got worse and now yesterday they told me that they need to do a bunch of tests that are worth over $250!!! Such a rip off, huge money grab...it's really upsetting. RID: 39534
Click to report rating    11/28/12   5     5     5     5   Always super clean establishment, Staff is very friendly and always willing to go the extra mile, Best Vets EVER, TOP DOG CLINIC in our family! RID: 38749
Click to report rating    11/11/12   2     3     3     2   Did not like this vet, very arrogant and pushy. I don't like how they don't tell you costs upfront, but you're just faced with a bill that astounds you at the end. They steal your pet away and stash them in the back never to be seen, with makes me uncomfortable. The other staff members were, however, nice. All in all, we received poor service. They want you in a out with your wallet left at the front. I would not recommend going here unless you have the insurance to pay for it RID: 38406
Click to report rating    9/4/12   2     2     3     1   After routine ear and teeth cleaning under anesthetic, my Maine Coon cat was returned to me with no comment that anything was wrong. He had one large pupil and one small pupil, membrane over one shrunken eye, ears draining fluid and unable to walk.Apparently he was left with Horner's syndrome, perhaps a punctured ear drum, and a returning ear infection. Not sure why he still falls over! They should have known there was a problem after the procedures and if so told us rather than letting us find out the cat was injured. After we insisted, they did arrange for a home visit from another vet because the cat is only calm enough to examine at home. That vet provided more information, but the promised follow up has been only at our prompting. Again, I do not see how they could have released him from care without knowing (or admitting) his condition. RID: 37000
Click to report rating    8/15/12   5     5     5     5   I am a new dog owner and took my pet to Abbotsford for her first check-up and found the staff and vets to be extremely knowledgeable and pleasant. RID: 36538
Click to report rating    6/8/12   4     5     3     4   This is an expensive place. They like to push extra testing on you. The service is good and the support staff wonderful. RID: 34850
Click to report rating    3/28/12   4     5     2     3   Four vets on staff and 3 are excellent. I have referred many people to this clinic and they have been very satisfied. You do have to take control of what is going on with your pet. This is the same as when you deal with your own doctor. You don't blindly say 'yes' to everything and then complain afterwards. Great hours and top equipment which is very important and that's the reason the prices are higher than the clinics. RID: 33219

Click to report rating    1/1/12   5     5     5     5   I breed pedigree cats and as such am intimately familiar with veterinarians. This clinic and its vets have the expertise to diagnose and deal with complex issues that the average general practice cannot. They maintain equipment that permits specialized treatment onsite. Yes, you will pay for it, but you will get an accurate diagnosis and benchmark treatment rather than best guesses. If you allow them to use the tools your pet will benefit. You pay for what you get. I have referred several clients to this clinic for this reason - the next level of referral in my opinion would be the UofGuelph. I also tell my clients that they have no idea what the true cost of THEIR health care is...so if you can't afford to drop a couple of $1000 in an emergency, then get pet insurance. Don't blame the vet for wanting to provide the best standard of care. RID: 30192
11/26/11   1     2     1     1   This place is awful! They wanted to order a whole bunch of useless tests for my really sick cat. They ended up "diagnosing" my cat and gave me the option of treatment at a VERY expensive price (in the thousands) OR euthanization because he was "suffering". I went to another vet for a second opinion and turned out they hadn't even run the test they needed to for their 'diagnosis'- turned out he was negative and the symptoms for their diagnosis weren't even there! Treatment ended up simple, though lasted a few nights and was a fraction of their price. Go there if you have endless pockets ... RID: 29396
4/20/11   2     2     1     1   All they care about is charging you a fortune here! Terrible service, uncaring and money hungry vet who thinks he is great but is not. I would not want him to take care of any of my pets. Very arrogant! RID: 24518
Click to report rating    4/18/11   1     4     2     1   Vet was pushy trying to get more services ordered before a thorough check of the wounded animal was done. When asked if i was going to return for a follow-up visit, which was i turned down, i was charged $34.00 for a "RETURN VISIT PREPAYMENT OPTION". RID: 24462
Click to report rating    8/9/10   3     5     4     1   Very Expensive. They insist on doing every test imaginable and it really adds up. This is a boutique vet. Only go there if you have insurance. RID: 19137
Click to report rating    10/24/08   5     5     4     4   Has a dental exray which few seemed to have. Dr. Bocknek quickly found a well hidden absess which after removal, my dog was finally rid of her years of pain and torment. RID: 10364
