My first visit in recent years to Acadia was this week for my two cats and their check-up. I met Dr. Fraser Davidson a few days earlier and set-up the appointment quick and easy first thing.
Everything was top notch. Dr. Davidson is professional, personable and very gentle & caring. One cat is easily approachable, whereas the other is timid. The doc didn't rush the second, but went through a thorough exam with the first. He gave me options for shots, and after consultation, we went for the right mix for my indoor cats. By then, the second was more comfortable and by the end, they were both calm and I was extremely happy.
The exam cost was reasonably priced and even with shots, it wasn't steep. I was sad to see Dr Murray retire a few years back, but now that Dr. Davidson and his staff are there, I'm comforted by their vet care. Thanks!

The new Vet is just too expensive and very business. Athough Dr. Murray is a little strange but he is just kind and caring! I and my dog would miss him. My dog doesn't even like the new vet. I won't be going back as I live far. If I have to pay that kinda price and attitude, I have many choices. Dr. Murray is unique, my dog is a kinda a "bad boy" but he listens to him somehow. I hope Dr. Murray is doing ok as he mentioned he has cancer during my last summer visit. I am sure many people would miss him too.

Best Vet clinic in Vancouver.
My cat was bitten on the cheek and the wound rankles. Dr. Murray was very gentle with the cat and with his experience knows how to deal with the injury with the least amount of reinforcement. (e.g. if surgery is not necessary or the time to heal is the same without or without surgery, he could suggest to take the medicine only.)
He is funny, very thoughtful (write down all the instructions and tips on paper in case I don't remember what to do to help my cat recover.) Moreover, treatment fee is very reasonable. Will definitely recommend to anyone who wants the best of their pets.

Yup he is a bit backward in the people skills ... But that's why he works with animals not humans! Smart, old school vet who knows his stuff and won't charge you an arm and leg! And your cat won't care that the office is rundown!

Dr. Murray is a wonderful vet. He is professional, friendly and has a great sense of humour. His prices are the most reasonable I have ever come across. The clinic lacks the look of a fancy modern office, but as long as my animals are getting great care, the simple "decor" is not a concern for me. I highly recommend him.

I will never allow this man near my dog again. He may care for animals, but he is an arrogant ass who needs to learn how to deal with people as well.

I wish there was a 6th rating - something that says you are so beyond any expectation that is reasonable to have in this day and age of non-personal service and caring. Dr. Bob is a rare find. However quirky and unusual others say he may be,(and isn't that an interesting facet),his manner and caring of your beloved pet is obvious. Thank goodness I found him. His costs are honest, very reasonable and most important...I trust him.

Very well qualified, competent vet. Quirky sense of humour, very fair and loves the animals. He is more interested in looking after your animal than making money -Very refreshing for a vet in 2012!

Dr. Murray has had years of experience and it shows. My previous vet had pretty well given up on my cat's problem and told me there was nothing more he could do, as it probably was a tumour. I went to see Dr. Murray and I was impressed by his knowledge and skill as a diagnostician. The problem is not a tumour, which was a huge relief, but will hopefully be cleared up by the right antibiotics. Anyway, he knows his stuff. I am so grateful and from no on Dr. Murray is going to be my go-to guy. And he has a very interesting sense of humour. Five stars.

I took my 3 year Pomerania to Acadia Veterinarian clinic today, when I walked out I said I wish I found him sooner. I recommend Dr. Murray to every dog and cat owner! You will not be disappointed.

I concur with Dr. Murray being affordable and his advice appropriate. However, his staff were anything but empathetic when my cat was put down. I was away when it happened and they put the body in cold storage. I called to set up an appointment to see the cat one last time and asked what it looked like. In the background, I could hear one of the assistants actually say, "what does she think it looks like, it is a cat in a bag". After going there for over 10 years, I was very disappointed in the lack of professionalism. I then called back, as I was upset to inform the recepionist that someone else would come to settle the bill. She indicated that she was sorry for what had happened and she should have "kicked him" at the time. When my parents went to pay the bill she was the first one to deny it. I always appreciated Dr. Murray's dry sense of humor and his way with the animals. He is a kind, funny and excellent vet just watch out for his staff.

I have taken my pets to Dr. Murray for many years. He has a grumpy manner and weird sense of humour that cannot mask his incredibly caring personality. I have received sensible care for my pets over the years -- he has even made house calls. The comment that he has given people free pet care over the years is true, as I was a recipient of his generosity as a university student. Now that he calls me a shameless "yuppie", I happily pay full price!! I would highly recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Murray is the best Vet I have encountered so far. He really cares about animals. I've visit different vet clinics after moving to the suburb. I feel like these other places more concerned about money than my pets. I am living on a fixed income, Dr. Murray is so kind that he only charges the medication sometimes. And his fee is fee really really reasonable and my dog and cat always appear so tamed in front of him. He is always funny and I have pleasant experience visiting there everything. I rather drive more than an hour to bring my pets there instead of other vets nearby. I just hope he is not going to retire soon.

I went in to buy food and they were not very professional. The staff were wearing jeans, and no identification, and were sitting in the waiting room chatting. I was unsure who was working and who was a client. They didnt sell kitten food, which I found unusual. I didn't actually see the vet for an appointment, but I found the experience a bit odd.

Dr. Bob is one veterinarian who won't rip you off. He is as honest as the day is long and very caring and kind and has been in the business for a long time and knows his stuff. He has looked after our dogs and cats through the years and we would never think of going anywhere else. He will do everything to save your pet but he will also tell you if it is in the pet's best interest to be euthanized. You will be very happy with Dr. Bob! I hope he lives to be 100 and still practicing!!

Dr. Murray and his staff are very caring individuals. Do not expect a fancy office for which you pay extra fees, just good and caring attention in an at home type clean environment. We had to have our long time companion euthenized and at the time were not regular patients of Dr. Murray, so he was not familiar with our dog's history and did not agree until he did a thorough exam and agreed that it was the best thing to do. He is a very ethical and caring Doctor who puts the animals' needs first.

We have been taking our dogs to Bob for the last 30 years. He is a no nonsense guy and always provides incredible value on every visit. Despite his wacky sense of humor, you won't find a more caring vet around.

Mr. Grimsby was unafraid of Dr. Murry, which is a first for him. But I have to say that I will probably take Mr. G back to Cats Only for his blood work and other more advanced care as Dr. Murry didn't seem to offer much in the way of diagnostic services. It was such a nice change, though, to see Mr. G relaxed, if not exactly happy, in the presence of a vet. I reckon Dr. Murry must be an animal whisperer!

I used to go to Dr. Bob years ago when we lived in Vancouver. Yes, his sense of humour is pretty irreverant (and I enjoyed it), but he is committed and his focus is on your pet. His prices were always incredibly affordable and he'd give it to you straight: no bull***, no ordering costly, unneeded tests, no upselling you on "special food". My cat had wierd symptoms and probably saw approx. 6 or so vets, each with a different diagnosis (ranging from allergies to digestive disorders). Dr Bob helped her the best. You should have no hesitation seeing him. He's the real deal!

DR. Murry was wonderful, yes he is quirky but he cares. Not only that he's a no **** man, who is vary reasonable and takes his time. Our cat can thank him for saving his hide and not bankrupting us.Unlike our dearly departed Binky, who suffered due to greed and false optimism from another vets. To Dr. Murry A BIG THANK YOU!

As every review points out, Dr. Bob is a character. But it is very clear after many visits that he cares about what's best for the animal, and he cares about the owner. If Dr. Bob recommends a lab test, you know it's needed; he's not going to do tests to satisfy curiosity, but to guide treatment. If you believe that sometimes the best route is to do fewer tests and fewer treatments, this is the vet clinic for you. Also, there are many stories of Dr. Bob treating the animals of poor people for free, and I feel good about supporting his practice because of that.

Dr. Bob is easily the best vet anywhere. I've recommended him to numerous friends. Sure, he's a little quirky (his sense of humour can be idiosyncratic), but he's great with the animals and goes the extra mile when needed. For example, when my cat needed specialised surgery to repair a broken leg, the surgeon was way out in the burbs and I didn't have a car; Bob took him home, kept him overnight, and dropped him off before driving into town in the morning. I don't know if he still does, but he used to do home euthanasia, so pets could die in familiar surroundings. The man is a saint.

Dr. Bob is interesting, he knows his stuff and never tries to up-sell. He's kept his same client base for at least 20 years, and there is a reason they keep coming back. I've seen people there from Surrey, Abbotsford, Metchosen and all over the lower mainland and beyond.

Dr. Murray is a bit of a character but customers and animals are very comfortable there and he tries to keep the prices down. The vet staff also are very kind and helpful
