We have been clients of this clinic prior and post new ownership (approx 7 yrs). The current owners do not seem to have any respect for client appointment times, we have never been seen on time. We have had several appointments with the new ownership. Routine check ups and vaccinations seem to be straight forward and problem free. Appointments that are more involved like surgery consults have been less than stellar. The vets seem unattached and my impression is that it is more money driven. We actually had to fight a surgery bill for a tooth extraction that was more than 50% over quoted price from the previous day, the reason given that it was a "large tooth and it took 5 mins longer to extract". The quotation had been done upon exam the previous day so it should not have been a surprise. We questioned the difference in cost and after some passionate discussion we were billed to original quote. We have returned several times but we are currently looking for a more caring team.

Both the technicians and the vets are the sweetest people you will meet. They are considerate and so helpful when taking care of my puppy. They say "she's part of the family" all the time and make sure she's getting what she needs, let's me ask tons of questions, and help me deal with the financial stuff in a very comfortable way. Not pushy or one sided, these people are so dedicated and have the best hearts. Couldn't leave puppy with anyone else.

Pet lovers beware!!! Very bad place to bring your pet. They are unfriendly and unprofessional. My dog was scheduled to have operation on her ear and was given an estimate. They charged us 100 dollars more than the estimate and did not tell us we need to pay 90% upon drop off of our dog. They threatened to not continue with the surgery if we didn't pay, of course we will pay for our dog!! It would just be nice to let us know exactly how much and when we need to pay!! They were rude and lack empathy. They are money hungry. I have seen better service at a much cheaper price!!

I've been bringing my dog (with ongoing health issues) to this vet for about 3+ yrs now. We booked an appointment one night & the lengthy file was transferred from another vet. Dr. Z walked in the next appointment (on time, as always) & had our dog's file memorized. We didn't have to explain it all again. He didn't suggest tests dog didn't need but. Comparatively the rate is very reasonable. He was kind, concise, & very clear on next steps. Great experience. He would take the time to speak to us over the phone regarding any follow up questions. Always patient. The staff is amazing. Very friendly, they know my dog by name even when they haven't seen him in 6 months & we randomly drop in to have him weighed and buy food. I have been to half a dozen other vets and there are many reasons why this one I recommend.

My baby developed kidney problems from a genetic disorder, and the staff at River Grove figured it out and caught it in time. With the right treatment, he's made a full recovery. Thank you to everyone there!

The vet clearly doesn't know what he's talking about, and he doesn't do research when needed. A friend of mine's cat died there because they left it overnight unattended. He was very sick and needed 24 hour watch, which this hospital promised they would do. They didn't receive a call until they opened, and it wasn't even from the vet. It was from the receptionist. How pathetic. I took my aunts dog there for a routine appt, and the doctor didn't even do his physical exam properly. He has a heart murmur, noted by the previous owners, and the doctor mentioned nothing about it. It's like his stethoscope is just for show. Remember people, you get what you pay for. :/

I brought my dog Mayhem in for a skin problem, and they prescribed exactly the right medication. Prices for consult and testing were very reasonable, and I had no problem with the staff whatsoever. Lovely clinic, very knowledgeable, and the hours are great! Definitely keeping my business there for a long time. Mayhem loves the staff!

Being a paranoid first time pet parent I had tons of questions. The staff at River Grove actually spent the time with me on the phone to answer all my questions before I even had my puppy, Stevie. At the first visit with my Stevie the Dr. went over everything I can expect in the first year of life, all the vaccines, neutering, teething. I received a folder with the info written down in-case I forgot once I got home. I like how they take the time to explain and answer all my questions. The price is good, the cost of an exam is less then any other clinic around (trust me I have done my research). I also love the fact that they are open 7 days a week it makes me feel better in-case something happens to my puppy on a Sunday.

Staff is ok, but the facilities are not the best. Please, please, please, do your research on Vets before picking one. Sometimes we are left with no choice due to severe illnesses with our pets, but I feel they take advantage of that fact and their prices are far too high for the service you receive. Whatever you do, do not argue with Dr. Z or confront him with an issue, he raises his voice and tries to justify his prices and you never get anywhere with him anyways! Just take my advice and shop around as there are great Vets and animal hospitals in the area that offer a far better and superb services and rates!

Excellent hospital. I took my new puppy as recommended by the breeder. I met with the technician who was friendly, I did not wait for my appointment, the doctor explained to me everything (vaccines, what to expect as he is growing in term of chewing and feeding etc), maintaining good health for him. I got all info including a gift. They treated my puppy very gently and were knowedgable and understanding. I like this hospital for the service, the price and the availability 7 days a week

I have been bringing my cat to this Vet for about 3 years now. I find the prices reasonable and the service to be good. They always follow-up your visit with a phone call to make sure everything is okay. Yes, they will always try and recommend more treatments/products than necessary, but they are not pushy if you say no. Receptionists are friendly.

I absolutely would NOT recommend using River Grove especially (Dr. Zaytoun) to anyone! This clinic has displayed a history of dishonesty since I’ve been going to them. The vet will tell you -- you have to pay for numerous vaccinations and says they are all required, when many of them are in fact optional. Absolutely, do not board your dog there. They have damage to all of the walls in their boarding facility and they will likely say your dog is the cause in order to have you pay them hundreds of dollars for it. The receptionist Melanie tried to claim my 5 month old puppy put a hole in their wall after she left him alone unsupervised in a room for a full hour. I later found out they've done this to other patients as well. They'll use scare tactics to threaten you to pay even though they cannot show you evidence your dog is the cause. My best advice is spend more money and board with reputable businesses like petsmart. Also, never pay for anything without doing your own research first.

My name is Melanie and I have worked at River Grove Animal Hospital for over three years. I wanted to respond to the previous review. Never has Dr Zaytoun been late or missed a paycheck in the time that I've worked there. All the staff are paid for their hours worked on time.

I was hired by Dr. Z a few years ago only for a short period of time. He was extremely rude and has absolutely no patience. I felt very uncomfortable and sorry for the other staff members. When I told him this job was not working he refused to pay me for my weeks worth and claimed i was just a "volunteer". I would not recommend bringing your pets there if he is unable to treat humans well I'm afraid to know how he'd treat animals.

never ever try this vet, very horrible experience . The vet does not know anything, does not answer properly. Hardly you can understand his English. I took my cat for vaccination , vaccine was going though and through. He never realized it. He charges for transferring file to other clinic.

Horrible experience! The vet felt threatened when I asked questions about his recommendation and he raised his voice with me. He was incredibly rude and condescending. I felt that he was just trying to scam money from me. He wanted to give my puppy more drugs and tests than I was comfortable with (even though he said my puppy wasn't sick) and when I asked him about other possible treatment options, he insisted that there's no other way and accused me of wasting his time. He didn't make me feel comfortable with the type of treatment and he doesn't even seem to like dogs. He only ever touched my puppy during the exam, and seemed uncomfortable touching him.

I only brought my pet there once. The service and cost were okay. What rubs me the wrong way is that they are like pitbulls constantly contacting me. On the same day, I received an email, snail mail and voice message that my dog was due for her annual rabies shot. At one point, they were calling me every day for a week. I decided I'd had enough and found a new vet. I asked them to transfer my dog's files to the new vet and they charged me $45 to send the fax. My old vet, Aylmer Vet Clinic, never charged me to send files. I used Aylmer Vet for over 15 years and wish I hadn't moved so far away that I can't use them anymore. On the bright side, $45 was well worth the price of not having to be harassed by River Grove anymore.

Terrible experience. My dog needed to be neutered for his prostate problems. After spending over $1000 to clear my dog for surgery I went in on the day of the scheduled surgery only to be told that he needed more test. He was already cleared and I took the time off of work for this. Also, everytime I go to this vet there is a new veterinarian. The one veterinarian cleared him for the surgery and the other veterinarian told me that he would have died if I had gone ahead with the surgery!! I will not go back there, they seam very uneasy around my dog and dont even seem to like animals. My dog senses the discomfort and does not like going there. At his old vet in different city he used to love going to the vet and the veterinarian liked him. I will never go back to this vet. I have no confidence that they know what they are doing!

This clinic did the extra mile for me, my male cat was blocked for a day I called my regular vet who was on vacation. Then I called this clinic to come to them, I went same day – the cat starts to be vomiting and not eating – they give him fluids and unblocked my cat - my cat went home after that healthy looking better – Thank you River Grove Animal clinic for saving my cat – this is my clinic all the way – they open 7 days a week - I will recommend this clinic to my friends

vet ratingz, Why you delete my review. We dealt with many vets before in searching for the best vet for our Bichon. In River Grove, they will go above and beyond and do a very thorough exam and tests to find out what the dog is suffering from unlike many vets who always give pain killer and antibiotics. They did all needed tests and figured out the problem for a very reasonable price. They gave me many choices and gave me time to think ad consult my family to choose the best option for our dog. They treated my dog like he is theirs. The vet assistants were very friendly and kind. The vet was knowledgeable and explained everything in details. I enjoy seeing him to learn more about how to take care of my puppy better. I have been with them since they opened in Mississauga few years ago. I am grateful to this clinic and I would recommend it for any pet owners who care about their pets. The search is over, the best vet is here!

Vet ratings, don't delete my comments.! Excellent hospital ! I was referred by a friend who had a great experience with Dr.Z. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted by a very helpful vet assistant who welcomed me and my cat and took the information of my cat. Then, came Dr.Z and did a thorough exam and explained to me the case and the options that I had. I had the time to think about my options and informed the vet of my decisions which he gladly performed on my cat. After I came back to pick my cat up after the procedure, he very kindly explained to me how to care for my cat after the procedure at home and explained also the reaction to medications or any complications that might occur. I had great experience, I am grateful to my friend for recommending this vet. I would recommend this clinic to any pet owners who care about their pets. Do not go to expensive vets who care only about collecting money or cheap vets who cut corners, go to River Grove Animal Hospital (from experience).

Vet and staff were horrible! Staff lacks experience and very rude. The doctor is also very unprofessional, and found raising his tone with myself and his staff. I HIGHLY do not recommend going to him. Prices are cheap for a good reason people. You get what you pay for, and in this case not a whole lot!

I called this clinic because I read good reviews on this site and was unhappy with our current vet. They were willing to make a house call despite the fact that we were first time clients (other clinics were not willing to do this). We made the appointment unfortunately to put our dog to sleep as she was old and very sick. This clinic was about $200 cheaper than another one that we had called. I felt that the receptionist was not very friendly or congenial. The vet that came was ok - I guess I expected more warmth and compassion due to what we were about to do.

The vet was rude(to me and staff), late, handled my dog roughly and was very pushy when I declined things. The staff didn't seem very knowledgeable either. Sure the prices are low but the level of care and knowledge isn't worth it.

Big improvement on the last place I went with my dog. Caring environment, the doctor gives you a lot of his time. Even the groomer was unbelievably helpful and knowledgable.

Not sure this vet is very experienced with cats! Semeed uncomfortable handling the cat as though he ws afraid of it. Staff member was definitely afraid.
