Following my recent experience at Hickory clinic, I urge pet owners to seek medical care elsewhere. Despite consulting with six ER vets over six days, Hickory failed to diagnose issues with my dog's GI tract and heart, leading to a false positive discharge on 4/20. We transferred to another facility close by, where superior care, diagnostic proficiency, exceptional service, and compassionate veterinarians made a difference. Despite expressing dissatisfaction, Hickory did not respond. Sadly, my dog did not survive due to overlooked airway issues. Transferring to the new facility spared us additional trauma. I strongly advise avoiding Hickory's subpar service and conflicting opinions, which only add stress during difficult times.

We took our cat to Hickory because of fluid in his abdomen & shortness of breath. They did some testing & said that his lungs needed to be drained. We waited in the lobby for over 2 hours & had to ask a staff member to find out what was going on with our cat. During the procedure, the cardiologist pricked our cat’s heart, causing him to bleed to death. Before the procedure was done, the doctors told us that if our cat got agitated, that they would not proceed. We were not warned of the risks & they also told us that other animals were barking & meowing while they were draining his lungs. Of course he would be agitated with all of the noise that was going on, but they proceeded anyway. So now we are without our cat, but still received a whopping bill for $545. I will never take another pet to this hospital.

As a long time client service at Hickory can be spotty. If you hav a senior staff member examine your animal, you'll receive high quality care. If your appointment is a new staff member your experience could be less than satisfactory. Hickory seems to have a very high turnover rate.

I've been a client at Hickory for more than 20 years and they have given my dogs and cats the best care. Yes, they are expensive--but in vet care, as in most things in life, you get what you pay for. Dr. Brown is the best in the business, and her network of other vets around the country allows her to reach out to colleagues to handle tough situations when they arise. Do I pay extra for her expertise? You bet I do, because when my animals need care, she's the only one I want advising me. My only complaint about Hickory is that the administrative staff is sometimes less than efficient -- but you show me anywhere today that hires young, administrative staff, and you'll see the same thing. Further, it's worth a lot to me to have a vet that's open 24/7 and able to deal with emergency situations. I give them a high rating for "monetary value." Yes, they are expensive--but they are worth it.

I've been really disappointed in this vet lately - they're just very expensive and always late, and not very helpful in the way of preventative medicine. The staff is lovely - really kind people. But I'm just in the market for better

We had to rush our 13 yr old lab here when he stopped breathing, sadly we had to put him down. However, every one we dealt with was so nice and explained everything that was going on to us. Price wasn't too outragous. Staff is exceptional and facilities is great!

Luckily the hospital was open 24 hours a day, on Christmas we had to come in as an emergency and I don't know what we would have done if they weren't open. The entire staff was so professional and nice to us. The doctor came in and assesed the situation and we were releived that everything was ok in the end. I highly recommend Hickory and its associates.
