My experience here was good. My dog passed away at home and they were very compassionate when I brought him in to be cremated. I took my cat in about two months after and they were very good with him. He had an ear infection and a cold, gave me medicine for both and know unnecessary treatments. They all liked my cat, but who wouldn’t, he’s a sweetheart! Thank you to all the staff. My Kitty is feeling a lot better!!

I am so grateful that Dr. Henry Skutelsky and Roncesvalles Hospital team have been looking after all my pets over the last two decades. The best veterinary care you could ever wish for - great attention to details, compassionate, reasonably priced, always there for you and go extra mile when needed. My male dog had so many health issues that other thought he is not going to survive long. Thanks to Dr. Henry who saved my dog's live several times he lived long happy life.

If you are looking for a vet who cares more about what YOU want to hear or see, he is not your man as he is not fake but tells it like it is. I have been going to this clinic for more than 20 years with both cats and dogs. Dr.Skutelsky is an honest,knowledgeable, hard working man with a great compassion for animals, often doing work pro bono on homeless creatures brought to his care.He tells it like it is and I understand that some people prefer things be sugar coated.Henry will diagnose an animal honestly and give you what options he thinks are available,the cheap version and the expensive one leaving you to make the decision. Whenever my animals have been ill he and his staff take the time to answer any questions you may have in an honest straight forward way.When he knows you are a responsible pet owner he will give you home options for long term or terminal illness that can save you money and bring less stress to your pet.I have reccomended him to friends and family and they have all continued to leave their pets in his care.He's not fancy but he's good. He cares alot about the animals he treats.That's the vet I want

I have been going to this clinic since the early 1980s when it was owned and run by a wonderful female vet. Unfortunately, Dr. S. doesn't possess the same degree of expertise or compassion as the previous vets in this clinic. Sadly Dr. S. misdiagnosed our sick cat - didn't even properly look at him when brought into the clinic, not once but twice. We ended up going to the emergency hospital where we spent $$$$$ on something that could have been treated for a lot less if properly diagnosed. If the only reason you go to Dr. S. is because you think he's cheap, then all I can say is "you get what you pay for". He's totally unprofessional and doesn't seem to care about your pet. You like his jokes? Go to a comedy club. Because of his ineptness, we lost our beloved cat. Think twice about bringing your beloved pet here. I would rather save my pet as opposed to saving a few bucks!!

I've been going to Dr. Skutelsky for many years with many different pets. I've moved away from the city and tried to find another vet closer to home. I've tried 6 different vets and was very disappointed. They made me feel like an animal abuser if I didn't spend the most money on every test and unnecessary treatment for my pets. Dr. S. is down-to-earth, honest, reasonably priced, knowledgable, blunt, with a quirky sense of humour. If these reviewers dont and can't appreciate an honest person who tells it like it is, jokes around, has a casual office environment, doesn't feel the need to impress clients or take advantage of people, then they shouldn't go back. I for one, love and appreciate honesty, integrity and lack of guilt!!!

WORST VET EVER! He is rude, inconsiderate, will tell you he hates your breed of dog and tell you he does not car about your pet. He will tell you one thing and write another on your pets account to make himself look better. He will wrongfully diagnose your pet without even looking at him. He told me my one year old puppy had glaucoma just to get kick backs from expensive specialists (my dog is now perfectly healthy and never ever had glaucoma y the way). He will insult you and make you feel bad about not spending money, when you clearly don't need to because his diagnoses are ludicrous! I went here because he was less expensive - NOT WORTH IT! You will save money by going to a better vet - Your pet will thank you. Worst vet ever - There are not enough characters to explain my entire visit or the horrifying things this vet gets away with. Please do not go here ever.

I have been a long time customer of this Vets office. It has been a wonderful experience until recently. We noticed a new employee who approached me at the end of my visit, she was trying to shame and guilt me into putting my dog on a special food in front of other customers in the front office. This experience made me feel so angry, having been spoken to that way in front of people, that I feel like not returning. Maybe it's time for a new vet. Dr. S. nor any of the other staff make you feel like this. My future visits to the clinic will not be when our favorite person FRAN is working. If I can't get a appointment when FRAN is not there I won't be going back! On the plus side Dr S. doesn't try and sell you something you don't need. He has helped us save one of our pets and it will always bee appreciated. He always jokes with you and tells you how it is.

When I brought my cat in there the first time they told me they needed to take blood. The vet, Dr. S, said he didn't like my cat. He wanted me to bring my senior cat in for xray tests on his organs, which he couldn't even read. My cat was too weak to move around but that didn't stop Dr S from grabbing him and tossing him around the table. After telling me that my 18 year old cat was "done" he had me escorted to the front where I paid and refused to offer any kind of medicinal help for my cat to feel better. He brought in his staff to get confirmation that my cat wasn't worth surgery and talked as though he was an 'investment'. Dr S lacks empathy, from my understanding he just couldn't give a rats arse. My cat and I aren't from Toronto so this was our first meeting. He asked if I wanted to put my cat down there in that cold, unfeeling environment. I said no, that I would take him home. I am not taking my other cats there. Worst vet ever.

Strange set up. My cat was examined in a room right behind reception. The window looking out on reception was open and Dr. Skutelski was chit-chatting away and cracking jokes with another client in the waiting room as he was giving me some bad news about my senior cat's health. He kept interrupting the conversation to make another zinger, and then go back to telling me my cat might die in a few months. When I refused to board my cat for three days for treatment because he's super old, Dr. S tried to insinuate it was for financial reasons, like shaming us, basically. He and his staff also try to push prescription foods and other supplements and imply that you're too cheap to care about your cat if you refuse them. Just an uncomfortable and strange experience overall. I'm looking for a new vet now.

In my opinion Dr. Henry Skutelsky is the best Vet in the city. He takes the time to discuss all your options and gives you the plain truth. He saved my previous cat when another Vet told me to put him down at the age of 5. Because of Dr. Skutelsky, my cat lived to the age of 18.5. This clinic is vet budget friendly and they do not try to push services and products. I am not too fond of the female vet and think that's why there's mixed reviews on this site. Request Dr. S and you won't be disappointed.

How can you advertise doing "proper" dentals without a proper dental suit!? A lot of places like this can offer cheap affordable dentals because a) they let the untrained "vet tech" who by the way hasn't even attended proper schooling extract teeth! You'd be SHOCKED at how common this is. Nothing like leaving tooth roots floating around in your animals gums! Please do not I repeat not take your animal here they are not properly cared for! Everything may appear great on the cover but behind the scenes is horrendous medicine being practiced. Just ask for a tour and see for yourself!

I am surprised at the inconsistent reviews, on one end he is the best vet ever and on another end he is horrible. Difficult to understand. My experience has been very good. I have a puppy and was recommended to see this clinic. My first experience was good and the doctor took his time with his explanations and recommendations. His staff were very helpful. I have been back several times due to my puppy's health and everyone has been great. The doctor has taken his time to discuss my puppy's options and has been very informative and available. I would recommend this clinic. For those people who didn't like the doctor's personality, it's simple...find another vet, there are plenty in Toronto. He was knowledgeable, respectful and had a sense of humor...what's wrong with that.

I went here a few times with my dogs and the first trips were good. I had Dr. Henry who took his time to explain my options as well as considering root causes rather than just treatments. However, I had the lady vet last time and it was horrible. She tried to give my dogs shots they didn't need - including rabies that wasn't due for another 2 years. She kept changing her explanation for things because she didn't want to admit she was wrong. She obviously didn't care about the health of the dogs at all and was incredibly condescending with any questioning. Because of her I will never go back here. If you go, make sure you have Henry.

I have been an RAH client for 12 yrs - 6 cats, 1 one dog. They are awesome: Caring, kind & knowledgeable. For one cat, after a heartbreaking fight with FIP, Henry came to my home to euthanize him. He saved my dog's life by staying to perform surgery (he had swallowed something) until 11 pm at night on a Friday and didn't even charge extra. My sr. female cat has mega colon. RAH taught me how to treat her at home. I always feel well informed and in charge of the decisions. Henry and his staff take the time to answer all questions and review pros and cons to all possible solutions. I never feel pressured into making a decision I might not be comfortable with. RAH lets me be present for many procedures which both I and my animals truly appreciate. I frequently recommend RAH to other pet-owners and I feel extremely fortunate to have them so close by. Yes, they're a no frills clinic, who cares? They know all their patients! I just love the clinic, the staff and Henry.

I gotta say - when I decided to take my dog here to get neutered I read these ratings and went into the clinic thinking "I may not like the vet but it sounds like he'll do a good job." I was wrong - not only did he do a great job with my pup, I do like him and enjoy his sense of humor, that has drawn so much ire, a fair bit. He spent a great deal of time with me and the pup before he went in for surgery to make sure he was calm and comfortable - he went through a bunch of things about my dog I hadn't known or thought about which will be useful as he grows older. My pup got pretty sick shortly after and when I took him back in, again, Dr. Skutelsky and his staff took really great care of him and charged me a very reasonable rate (and didn't charge me for some stuff) as opposed to the clinic I'd been going to before where a 5 minute exam / urine analysis costs me $180 and nothing comes of it...

Simply the best Damn vet I've ever had the pleasure to work with. However be advised Dr. Henry only cares about your animal. He doesn't treat humans. Because of Dr. Henry's vast knowledge and because he treated my dog as quickly as possible and didn't try to be a social worker my big boy did not die. As a matter of fact on a very snowy November night Dr. Henry rushed my dog's samples to the University of Guelph...himself. The next day we had the results, started treatment and my boy is back to being large and in charge. We were back recently for a visit, when he came to the waiting area to see who was next he spotted my old fella, wrapped his arms around the dog, kissed him on the head and announced to the office that just 2 months ago he wouldn't have given the dog 2 weeks.

Yes the doctor is nice and generous with his money but displays unprofessional behaviour. First off what kind of professional vet wears flip flops, who wants to see that? It is a hospital after all. I don't even want to think about what their definition of "sterile" is. I witnessed while waiting what appeared to be a sedated cat being weighed on the dog scale in the reception. Well you'd think they would have had its weight on a proper cat scale BEFORE given any drugs... It would probably be wise for them to remove the little window looking into their treatment room. If you researched this clinics website you'll notice that none of their Veterinary Technician/ assistant staff have attended an accredited college for either skills. Many people like this place because its cheap, but trust me in this business PROPER medicine isn't cheap. He's an old vet practicing older medicine. That's why its cheap. Times have changed, if you can't afford a pet you shouldn't have one.

I recommend this doctor to my friends all the time; he is very honest and clear about what he is charging you for (he does have an odd sense of humour, but perhaps that's not a bad thing, considering that he deals with sick and sometimes dying animals all the time). When I brought in a vomiting kitten, he and his nurse stayed after hours until the barium went through the kitten's digestive system, to see whether they had to perform an emergency operation or not - and they did not charge me for that extra time. He's very good to animals and generally lovely.

I love Dr. Skutelsky. Yes, his humour is dry. es, he can be gruff. But - I wouldn't take my dogs anywhere else. Over the years, have had 2 cats, 3 dogs use this vet. He's been right every time, and I always feel he's trying to save me money. I've never had useless tests, and when I compare with vet bills with friends, mine are always cheaper. The office isn't swanky, well, neither am I! What counts is correct information and caring staff. Thank you to Dr. S and staff.

This is the best veterinary clinic in Toronto. Dr. Skutelsky is a very honest man and not trying to make money for uncessary tests and treatments like most other vets. He can be a bit gruff, but it is just his external manner, inside he is very soft and gentle. He was was very caring, kind and affectionate with my 12 year old cat. Another vet told me my cat had a cavity and it would cost $1,400 to pull the tooth. I asked Dr. Skutelsky about my cats teeth and he said there is no cavity and no dental work needed. He said it is very hard on an old cat and not to put him under for teeth cleaning or extraction unless absolutely necessary. Good advice! Also, the other vet did not diagnose a problem that Dr. Skutelsky identified right away. He is very experienced. I will never go to a young vet again. They have too many bills to pay and try to overcharge. They also don't have the experience of a vet like Dr. Skutelsky. He is the best there is!

Avoid this vet (Dr. S) if you love your dog. He does not seem to care about dogs and spends the entire visit making lewd, ****, and other bad jokes. My 3 month old puppy was licking my face and the first thing he says is "he doesn't respect you". Huh? Then, my puppy jumped up to say hello to him as he bent down toward him and he punched him on top of his muzzle to make him not jump making my puppy yelp. I will NEVER recommend this a**hole to anyone!!! It's too bad because I really liked his staff, they were great.

I emailed and called with an emergency and asked for confirmation that I could admit. Instead of getting back to me, I got nothing. If they had been my only option in the area, my pet's life could have been at risk. I followed up with a complaint and again, nothing. The truth is, this clinic is in a shady part of town peppered by vagrants and addicts. I would've braved that to visit a clinic that demonstrated compassion, but this clinic did not. Avoid this place if you expect a high level of service and care. If you don't you may as well take your pet to your local butcher. You'd likely have better luck there.

The staff are clueless and the vet should be forced to pass the vet exams again! When I went in there for an estimate it was written on the corner of a business card - they couldn't even print out the estimate or write it on paper. Not worth the risk!

The staff was friendly. The doctor had a dry wit that I enjoyed. My cat was treated well and the best part was I wasn't being pressured into buying anything or having unnecessary procedures done. I will go here again should the need arise.

I can't speak highly enough about this vet. The first time I met Dr. Skutelsky was to put down my old and ailing cat. He was kind, caring and professional. He has a very quirky sense of humour about which I was forewarned. He was generous with his time and extremely compassionate. Subsequent visits with our other cat he has been passionate about their health, outraged even at my being sold an ill cat from a breeder and highly objective in offering treatment options. I appreciate a more low key approach to testing and options rather than being pressured for expensive testing. Dr. S offered his opinion on what he would do "take the cat home and observe him for a few days, if there is a problem bring him back. Or, you can pay me lots of money and maybe I won't find anything because there is nothing to find." I took the cat home, he's fine. I often recommend this vet.

Dr. Henry Skutelsky is a HORRIBLE vet... he shouldn't be allowed to practice, he has no compassion what so ever! I had to put my cat down after 14 years and it took a lot for me to come to that decision as he was sick for quite soem time, I was new in the area so didn't have a vet yet. The vet Dr. Henry Skutelsky, was SO incredibly unfeeling, did it in seconds without warning, in a coffee break room, there was no privacy, he was in and out of the room, seemed he had better things to do, and when he came back to face me as I was in shock at the shear lack of professionalism and the immediate loss of my cat he started moving my dead cat body around to show me just how fast it was. The staff undercharged me for the crematory fee and tried to get more money from me when I came out after all of this.
