We have been going to Cabbagetown since we were referred by an RVT friend. The staff are nice and love animals. The clinic has not be invested in for a while and does have small rooms and is awkwardly organized. Our biggest concern has been the prices. They charge a premium for services and often push followup tests and visits. It seems like you cannot go in for less than $200 to $400. We've struggled with the value provided. The staff are generally good. The only challenge we have had is taking ownership of their own issues. We attempted to get a certificate to travel and even the Canadian Inspection Agency commented on how unprofessional our Vet had been. They take no responsibility for understanding what you need and made us make 6 trips then blamed us. Not even an apology and charged us $200 for the 10 minute checkup and signing. Then claimed that if they had to know how to do the paperwork right, it would be more expensive. Convenient if you live in Cabbagetown, and you can afford

I initially chose Cabbagetown Pet Clinic because it is convenient to where I live. But I am very happy with the care and attention they have given to my cat. He was sick recently and the folks there took great care of him despite the fact that he is very aggressive when on the examination table. The follow up calls to check on how my cat was doing were greatly appreciated. These people genuinely care about your pet.

The negative reviews here don't match our experience. Excellent, knowledgeable, and compassionate care describes how the vets and staff here have treated our dogs over more than five years. At one time we were at this clinic nearly every week with our sick dog, and both the vets and staff truly cared for her and offered every option to make her last few months comfortable. Dr. Day also arranged for emergency orthopedic surgery for our other dog over Christmas a few years ago! Yes, sometimes you have to wait a little because emergencies are accommodated. This means that your pet can see the vet on short notice, too! The complaints about the 'look' of the clinic itself are unreasonable. The facilities are clean and certainly adequate. The quality of care inside is what's important, and we continue to bring our dog here and recommend this clinic to other pet owners.

We love Cabbagetown Pet Clinic. All of the vets have been wonderful and the support staff are top notch. Our two dogs and cat get the best care there. People complaining about waiting are ridiculous. Sometimes emergencies happen and I am glad to know they will rush my pet in when it is warranted(which they did the day my dog passed away a few years ago). So I gladly wait when it is someone else's pet in distress. Get over yourselves.

I was shocked to see the negative reviews on here. Overall I have had excellent experiences here! The front staff was always cheery when greeting us and seeing Shivonne updating Facebook meant that I would have some interesting reading on the Cabbagetown Pet Clinic page! The Drs are all wonderful! Yes, sometimes I had to wait before being seen by Dr. Bernhard, but I knew that the same time and care was going to be given to my pet! Dr Low has an amazing bubbly personality that comes across with the pets as well and Dr Day has always been very warm and caring with me and my cats. The support staff in the back has also been very helpful and patient both answering questions and dealing with my not so friendly kitty! I first came to this clinic when Dr Day first took over and I have to say that the updates and improvements she has done to the inside are amazing!! A few minor updates may still be needed outside, but overall it is looking great!

I initially came to this veterinary clinic because of close proximity, and had a great experience with Dr. Low. Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience with another vet, who I found to be a little bit aggressive. They felt my dog's temperature was high and so insisted on bringing him to the back to cool down. Following the visit, the vet called to say that they noticed a fresh scratch on his leg, which they said they found there. I do not work, so I spend all my time with my dog. I believe I would have noticed if he had scraped his leg or had gotten in a tussle with another dog.

Dr. Day and all of her staff have always gone out of their way to go above and beyond in the care of my two dogs. True, the facility is perhaps not state of the art. However, the compassion and caring shown far exceeds the need for a slicker environment. I would highly recommend this clinic to anyone. Sean Ward

I go to this clinic as it is very convenient. On my first visit I was very happy to meet Dr Day, who seemed confident well informed and totally at ease with my dog. I would happily return to see Dr Day at anytime, however, the clinic needs a good scrub and could possibly be re-arranged to make better use of the space. This all takes time and money and I know Dr Day will make it so in time.I would also note that the front desk staff could use some training in terms of customer service. If was not an outgoing pet owner I might take this staff the wrong way. I do know several neighbours who have left this clinic due to bad handling by the staff. What a shame. Dr Day please take note. As to feeling pushd to have tests etc, I have found that this is the way Humans are handled these days.If we have the science available it is not surprising that it Vets might want to use it rather than guessing which anti-biotic to use. OHIP does not cover our Pets..yet.

I am appalled by the negative reviews. Are we talking about the same person? Dr. Day is one of the finest & most compassionate vets I've had the good fortune to meet in a long history of pet ownership. It's true, she took over the business from a less than than likeable individual , but Dr. Day is the diametric opposite of her predecessor. And if the former clinic was "dirty" (one of the criticisms), hers most definitely is not. What? The exam room is too small? Excuse me but I have a 150 lb dog who has no issue with where the walls are. Professionally speaking, Dr. Day really proved herself when she went far beyond the primary care stuff & performed a difficult & extremely complicated surgery on my cat. And she gave me her home number with instructions to call any time during the night! She costs what a vet costs, no more no less. In fact, Dr. Day has always presented less costly treatment options whenever possible. So glad I found Dr. Jennifer Day!

Dr Day and the Cabbagetown Pet Clinic saved my Coonhounds life.........I am so grateful to them. Wendy is wonderful in the front and Leanne take so much care of the animals in the back. Dr Day is so caring towards her animal patients - I have seen her cry with the owners when a pet is in pain.

I have been going to Cabbagetown Pet clinic for over 20 years and was very disaapointed when Dr. McClure retired. We stayed on as a matter of convenience but recently had a terrible experience with Dr. Day and we won't go back. The whole feel of the place has really deteriorated since Cass left too - the new receptionists don't even seem to like animals. Our cats (one now deceased) love Dr. McClure and Cass and now our one cat is so aggitated when we go there, he even tried to bite the vet and then soiled himself. That is a pretty strong indication that something isn't right. Additionally, the price for a small procedure we had a few years ago has more than doubled. Even accounting for inflation that is outrageous!

I recently moved and started taking my cat and dog here. Seems like a decent place, it has it's Cabbagetown charms, but could use some updating. So far I've found it very easy to make an appt on short notice...and the prices are quite reasonable compared to a couple of other places I've been to. I didn't feel rushed at all, the vet spent plenty of time with us...but this is also why I gave a '3' rating on punctuality...as I've waited 20 mins on 2 occasions. The Dr. (Stuart?) seems to have a conservative approach, but seemed a bit pushy on yearly vaccinations, which I don't believe in getting for my animals every year. Oh yeah, and they have these two big, noisy, squaking parrots which startle me and my dog everytime. Overall, I'm quite happy with this clinic and will continue to take my girls here.

The Doctors at this clinic are very good. However, the auxiliary staff don't spend much time with you or the puppy. There's the sense that the staff team, isn't a team as they all work on an individual basis, without communicating with each other. Ultimately the client and the pet are the victim of poor management and facilities. You have to be careful in what you get here, because the price will immediately sky-rocket. The floors are very dirty, and the examination rooms are tiny and do not feel or look clean. The place needs a renovation. Though, after spending a few visits here, and forking out lots of money I am going to start shopping around for other vets in the area. I do not recommend this animal clinic.

I have taken my cat here a number of times over the past 3 years and am extremely unimpressed with the facility and doctors. The vets don't listen to my concerns and have even accused me (falsely) of not taking good care of my cat. They are quick to push expensive drugs and surgery and even behaviour therapy! Every time I go in I see a different vet (only one of which I was happy with but that Dr was unavailable on subsequent visits) and no one seems to review the chart so it's like starting from scratch with every visit, not very condusive in trying to diagnose ongoing conditions. My poor cat isn't getting any better and I have wasted 100s of dollars in treatment. The facility is undergoing a facelift but it is still laid out poorly. The doctors don't call with test results when they say they will, you have to chase them for weeks to get results. The only positive is the admin staff who are very kind and helpful. I would not reccommend this clinic and am looking for a new vet.

I began going to Cabbagetown several months ago with my dog. I highly rate the services that I recieved. I found the vet very informative and she asked me questions that were never asked before. I've had to go there several times since and each time the clinic has improved in appearance. There has been recent painting and I noticed a 2nd exam room in the back area as well. I was told that a new floor is coming which will greatly improve the overall appearance. So, in reading a few of the other comments, I feel that even though the place was a bit grungy, it is being updated by the new owner, and in my opinion that along with the competant vets and support staff I have finally found a great veterinarian clinic to take all my pets. I will highly recommend Cabbagetown to anyone.

I have been here a few times because the location is convenient. I have not been satisfied with the advice and information from the vet or staff. Plus they are always pushing expensive tests, medicines, and food. I am looking for another vet.

This clinic is now owned by a new vet, who is many times better than the vet who used to own this practice. I came here for a minor issue with my cat. The new vet was fine, but I have to complain about the physical arrangement of the clinic. The exam room is extremely tiny, with no place to sit even, and no sink in the room. The floor looked really grungey, but this was due to the worn out lino. This clinic occupies two storefronts. One storefront has about 400 ft sq of empty space used to store pet food for sale. Why not make a new exam room or two in this large room, and put the food in the 36 sq ft exam room, with inventory in the back? The vet also had to go into the back several times to get meds, etc. which meant I had to hold onto my anxious cat to prevent his escape. This could be a good clinic, but it needs to be arranged in a functional and reasonable manner. I'm not saying it has to be chic -- the current arrangement is severely dysfunctional. A coat of paint would help, too.

New to Cabbagetown area, my 2 dogs got a bout of throwing up & diarrhea. Went to local Cabbagetown vet to check on them. A small, dirty clinic; I was worried about my dogs touching the floor-it appeared to be very unclean. Only 1 examination room, very cramped. The female vet was friendly & enthusiastic but pressured us to do multiple, expensive tests on our dogs and also to prescribe multiple, expensive drugs for them. No wait and see approach, just an aggressive, pressuring stance on medicating them FIRST and seeing what happens AFTER. One of my dogs had parvo as a puppy & often reacts with diarrhea when exposed to new food, new meds, etc (and he already had this symptom!) so I didn't want t pump him full of chemicals. The vet seemed to think I was negligent for not going forth with multiple drugs, telling me that he could die from diarrhea & suggested we give monthly vaccine pills & the yearly shot too! Ended up with drugs, a big bill & was not pleased with the attitude of the vet.
