Click to report rating    3/11/19   5     5     5     5   We arrived in North Vancouver in 2002 and Atlas has been the only vet clinic that we have ever used since then. An ailing, senior beagle had tumours removed by Dr. Jagpal and recovered sufficiently to live another three years. My chihuahua was hit by a car and was in bad shape. Again, Dr. Jagpal successfully performed surgery on a totally mangled front paw, and inserted a metal component into her back leg because it had been shattered. My (3) dogs have never had any fear of going to the vets and especially if they see Dr.Jagpal. Also, Dr.Jagpal and one of his assistants came to my home to euthanize my other beagle in Nov.2018. They were caring and compassionate and made the whole sad ordeal more bearable. I never hesitate to recommend Atlas and its staff. They are a truly wonderful team. RID: 67505
Click to report rating    11/5/17   1     1     1     2   Hands down the WORST veterinary clinic in BC. There is one doctor on staff for hamsters and he has NO care in the world for animal life and no professionalism. I took my hamster there for an examination last night around 6:30pm because she had a lump growing on her pelvic area and was losing patches of hair. Upon arriving, I had to wait about an hour and a half because there is only one doctor on staff and he was doing another surgery. When he finally got around to seeing my hamster, he first of all, handled her so roughly although she was in pain, using a napkin to pick her up by the neck to see what was wrong and nearly squishing her as she's screaming. Then he goes on to tell me that they don't perform blood tests, x rays, scans NOTHING to see what's wrong but assumed it was a tumor based on the size. All in all, my hammie ended up dying on their table because he mentioned he took out the tumor with its intestines without first informing me and didnt want to close her back up to rev RID: 64993
Click to report rating    7/18/17   5     4     5     4   I do not get the negative comments here. The bad smell is due to sterilizing procedures, which is what you WANT to smell in a clinic. The staff is compassionate, the gals get you in asap in emergency situations. Drs Arun and Jagpal have jumped thru hoops for my Himalayan with multiple Urethral blockages. Both are caring, and let you come into the back to be with your pet whenever possible. I have been with Atlas for many years. Prices are reasonable. I have three cats that I wouldn't take anywhere else. The staff are great with them, and with me! RID: 64211
Click to report rating    2/5/17   1     2     1     1   I went to Atlas for dental cleaning for my dog. He is a 10 pound Chihuahua . Before sedating him they determined that he had a grade for heart murmur, a collapsed trachea, an enlarged heart and had a cough ( reverse sneezing in Chihuahuas is very common). When the doctor called to tell me obviously this was very shocking news because heart murmurs can be very serious and an indicator of heart disease. Instead of gently delivering this news to me they went on to tell me all the tests that were required. I was obviously upset and the doctor told me I needed to be polite to him because he was my doctor. I explained that I'm also the customer and giving them a ton of money. He said I'm not getting the money the clinic is. I Found this really rude and unprofessional. After $600 in x-rays & bloodwork, everything came back completely normal. Now three days later my dogs entire chest is covered in a purple bruise and all they had to say was sorry. RID: 62561
Click to report rating    11/5/14   1     1     1     1   Cruel Mahdi Botyari at Atlas should be barred. He made me & my husband hold our poppy as he tortured it for 15 min! we brought in the poppy a day before & a nice female vet had checked him without the poppy screaming! she said its laxating patella. The next day I said let's get a second opinion so we saw Mahdi Botyari. he put a tight mask on the poppy's face! made us hold it! the poppy was turning his head and body in the air from pain. screaming so loud even with the mask on and having a hard time breathing!finally I said stop it! Mahdi said if U R too upset I will take it to the back to examine! so I went out crying! I could hear the poppy's screams from outside!the poor poppy fainted! and Mahdi Botyari says: " I have read the other doctors notes from yesterday and I confirm the same thing!!" the only reason we didn't object for more than 10 minutes of torture was that we thought he has discovered something new! if a test can be done without pain why put the pet in so much pain? Click to report rating    2/19/14   2     3     2     3   I took my cat here for a spay as my previous vet wouldn't accept SPCA credit and a friend used to use atlas. Although surgery seemed to go well, my cat has been terrified of the vet ever since and it now takes two people just to get her out of the crate on arrival. Each proceeding visit deterred me more and more from going here. When I took her in for a minor cut was advised she needed to stay over night on a drip and had to argue for an alternative short dose of antibiotics (which was more than sufficient). On her last check up, copies of all her paperwork from previous vets had been removed from her file and vet then insisted she needed three more visits for vaccines she has already had and also claimed she needed major dental cleaning for gingivitis that was barely perceptible. I don't agree with additional, unnecessary procedures. I am looking for an alternative vet. Costs may be cheaper but it adds up when they are pushing extra drugs and surgeries. RID: 49935
Click to report rating    2/10/14   5     5     5     4   I took my puppy to the Atlas Animal hospital for neutering and I was very happy with the facility and the staff. When I brought Fernando back to have his stitches out he was eager to get in the door. They have a few "resident" cats and the assistant told me the one he was so happy to see had cuddled with him during his post- surgery recovery. They had even taken a picture of of the two of them. Very professional and very caring clinic staff and vet. I would highly recommend this animal hospital. RID: 49756

2/27/13   5     4     5     5   These guys were kind enough to come to my house, even though it is not something they usually do. My elderly dog was dying and I would have paid anything, yet they charged me the exact price they quoted. When my neighbor saw the bill, she said a different vet charged her that much, and she brought her dog in! RID: 40760

2/15/13   5     3     3     5   I'm sorry some people have had bad experiences here, but I have gone there for the past 6 years. I do admit the front desk staff is never really very good, and the clinic isn't fancy, but the doctors have ALWAYS been VERY nice to me and to my pets. They are the least expensive vet in town. The person who said they are always trying to sell him more products, I don't get that. One vet somewhere else wanted $900 to clean my cat's teeth. Atlas was less than $250. Dr. Mehdi is always sweet with all my pets. My pets love him. And also, they NEVER make me feel rushed. If I'm upset they are patient and take their time. So I gave a 3 on punctuality, but that's because they spend the extra time with their patients. Yes, if you want a pretty vet clinic, this is a bit no-frills, but if you want vets who care about you and your pets and one that is affordable, I have had nothing but positive experiences. Click to report rating    10/15/11   2     1     3     3   I dropped in when my dog got bitten by other dog. He was badly bleeding, but the receptionist kept us waiting. (There was only 1 other patient before me anyway.)The first thing I noticed when I entered was the smell. Quite strong so I had to go outside to wait. I simply couldn't stand it. My dog's indujy was healed with stiches and anti-biotic pills. The bill was reasonable, but I won't go back there. RID: 28319

Click to report rating    2/12/11   1     1     1     1   DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE! If you care about them at all - go elsewhere. I was new to the city and had a sick little dog on a holiday weekend, I drove around and discovered Atlas open. The clinic was flithy, I waited 2 hours and when they finally took my dog to the back for bloodtests he shrieked and screamed (for a bloodtest?). They shaved his neck so close that he was completely raw and bleeding from the razor/shaver. WTF. When we found a new vet on Monday (who is a Godsend) Atlas refused to send the bloodtests to the new vet. My new vet (Lonsdale Veterinary Hospital - the best!!!) repeated the tests at no charge and in the end - saved my dog's life. I have told anyone who will listen to stay away from Atlas. RID: 22807
Click to report rating    11/22/10   2     3     3     2   I have used this vet several times and the counter staff are well meaning but, always different and clueless. The examining vet pushes to sell lots of services: blood work, teeth cleaning when they are not required. They are less than accurate when telling you what things cost until it is time to pay; A simple bite repair to my cat, estimated at $450, became $780 because they didn't include the blood work or anaesthetic in the estimate. How do you sew up a bite wound without anaesthetic? Going elsewhere from now on. RID: 20998
Click to report rating    9/20/10   1     1     1     1   This butcher almost killed my puppy during a routine spay. The vet then insisted on running blood tests at my cost to try to justify why his malpractice nearly killed my dog during this routine procedure. Needless to say her blood work came back fine and the whole situation was proven to be simply shoddy vet practice. My dog nearly bled to death and still bears a scar that is about a foot long from this procedure. Be afraid of this clinic be very very afraid. Also please note that this veterinary chain has been shut down for malpractice numerous time over the last few years. RID: 19821
Click to report rating    6/16/10   5     5     5     5   I've been breeding yorkshire terriers for over 25 yrs. and I've dealt with many veterinarians. For me Dr. Jagpal is the best.I totally trust him, specially when it comes to surgery. He was able to fix two of my dogs broken legs. These are tiny animals with fragile bones. I recomend him to all my clients. He is one of the few vets that makes a visit to the veterinarian clinic affordable. May be this is the reason why all of the OVER priced vets. in North vancouver don't like him. He is very caring and knowledgeable. RID: 18414
Click to report rating    5/19/10   4     3     4     5   We took our puppy there and he was diagnosed with Parvo. We had him on IV fluids for a week and he ended up dying. I liked the staff they seemed really nice but a little difficult to understand. We were in the back room all the time and it seemed clean. My only proplem is that there are so many vets working at this place that sometimes the information wasn't transferred to eachother. Overall I'd give it a 3. When dealing with pets-you should want a 5! RID: 18028
Click to report rating    4/6/10   5     5     5     5   OK, I don't know if things have changed big time there, but I love this place.I have been going there for years, and these crappy reviews always killed me. After this time, I had to write the truth. Brought my poor cat in and they stayed open late for me, then had 3 post check ups and it was all included in the original price. (Which was...I bet 500 bucks less than down the road at the "cat house " :) ) I love the secretary very helpful and there was no smell, ok a faint disinfectant, the place is clean. I went to the back and saw the operating area and holding area, clean. And I gotta tell you the Vet was super nice! I am not ****, so maybe that is the problem with some reviewers, but whatever, I give it 5 stars! RID: 17406
Click to report rating    10/30/09   3     3     4     5   I had my kitten neutered here, and was very satisfied with the service. he recovered well and quickly and the day after coming home, didn't even seem to notice he'd ever had surgery. later, after asking if they treated rats - i brought my rat for care with a URI. the vet was so nervous about being bitten (edgar has never bitten anyone in his entire life, and i had to reassure the vet of this several times) and didn't seem to have any advice for me. i bullied a two-week prescription for baytril out of him (which didn't last two weeks, only eight days, but was refilled for me free of charge when i told them a week later). he also brought out a massive encyclopedia and opened it to a section on rats in front of me to try and figure out what edgar's symptoms meant. to his credit, when he stopped being afraid of being bitten and began to tend to edgar, edgar lay in his hand very calmly and the vet was very, very gentle. overall, a lukewarm experience. Click to report rating    10/16/09   1     1     1     1   Took my dog there in desperation over a long weekend and was NOT happy with the treatment we received. My 5lb dog was handled with excessive force during his testing and was left with bleeding razor burn. I had a terrible time getting my tests results sent to my new vet (who is amazing!). If you love your pet, take them somewhere that hasn't had dozens of negatives remarks on rating sites such as this. Your pets deserve better!!! RID: 14778

7/18/09   5     5     5     5   I adopted my cat at Atlas in North Vancouver and have returned there for his regular care for the last 5 years. They have always been kind, caring and professional. The staff are empathetic and helpful. I was impressed with the way Dr. Jagpal was able to get down and look my sick, frightened cat in the eye and calm him enough that he was able to take X-rays without sedating him. My cat seemed to understand they were trying to help him even thought he generally runs at the sight of strangers. I have recommended this hospital to others who also have had very positive experiences. I certainly wouldn't go anywhere else. RID: 13521
5/27/09   1     1     1     1   DR JOGPREET JAGPAL SUSPENDED FROM PRACTICE NOVEMBER 5TH 2007 TO FEBRUARY 5TH 2008, FINED 5000 DOLLARS. HE IS NO LONGER ALLOWED TO PREFORM A FRACTURE REPAIR UNTIL HE HAS TAKEN AN ORTHOPEDIC SURGERY COURSE. SEE LINK BELOW. http://www.bcvma.org/cfm/index.cfm... RID: 12919
Click to report rating    2/18/09   5     5     5     5   I think people are confusing Atlas at North Vancouver with one in Vancouver. I want to say they are not related in any way except in name, and Dr Jagpal is the principal veterinarian in North Van Atlas. Please do not confuse North Van Atlas with Vancouver one. North Van Atlas treated my pet with such care that I would not go anywhere even though I moved from North Van to Langley but I still Go there. RID: 11685
