I took my family member to the cancer centre to have cysts removed as they can turn malignant.but they didn't do any target therapy as that would prevent the chances of them returning. Guess what they returned in the same area.when they did instead of removing the cysts they did a biospy and one of the was cancerous with out my consent, so now there's a spread. They botched the surgery didn't do target therapy before opening her up. They left desloving stitches in her that her body rejected they didn't do anything about that she stopped eating drinking waliking while being under their care emailed sent pictures of her skin tuning black to her oncologyist who said it was fine. I took her to EMG where the techs threw her up agianst the wall on her surgery side and tor muscle on her surgery side they told me she was difficult and that they the techs we're tired they sent her home to die that's my Katie They sent me a letter saying they would no longer treat my cat who also had cancer

My chocolate lab who that time was only 10 months was diagnosed with hip dysplasia. The vet was very passionate and recommended THR surgery. After some research and seeing Dr.Sharon in Rockwood she basically turned my baby into a new dog. She changed his diet added vitamins to help him and I also saw a chiropractor in Etobicoke highly recommended(Pets in motion) and he also aligned my baby and is running jumping like a normal dog. Both were surprised that the OVC would want to do a THR. They are a business and don't think about the long term physio involved. However has to do THR please stop and go see Dr.Sharon Holistic vet before spending $$$$$.

1. We had to wait over 3 hours for a simple physical exam and then another 3 hours to get our cat back.
2. They gave us medication that our cat did not need.
3. The options they gave us were completely overkill when a simple X-Ray would have told them what should be done.
4. Sitting over 6 hours in the waiting room that had no bathrooms.
5. I tried using the emergency line again for someone to come down to open the doors to the washrooms but was ignored. My pregnant wife had to piss in a cup in the car because no staff was around to open the doors to the employee bathrooms.
6. They sent a student out to say the veterinarian will be here to talk with us in a couple of minutes at 10:40 pm. The vet came out at 2:15 am only to give us medication.
7. Greatly understaffed.
8. A ridiculous fee for receiving medication after operating hours from a dispenser machine. (vending machine for animal medication?) Don't give these people your hard earned money.

DO NOT take your pet here, the costs are over whelming and they lie to your face about the costs, you'll most likely leave with out answers and you'll deal with a "resident"

I took my cat to OVC. After three days of several tests, they did not have a diagnosis. The tests could have been done in a day but they prolonged it... and my cat developed fluid in lungs. He was so scared there. They make sure the bills add up and the stay is long. They do not give you a proper answer. You get to talk to residents or intern, not the senior doctors. This is like a test centre for them to experiment on your pets. Do not take your pet there if you care about your pet.

Did not see the faculty doctor that I had a confirmed appointment with. Instead I saw an INTERN that made treatment recommendations. I insisted to see a doctor and I've got a resident. They told me that their Radiation Oncologist does not work at Guelph anymore. She consults for them online from New Zeeland. Beautiful facility and prices are high accordingly. Too bad there is no other place in ON for radiation therapy. Good luck to all cats and dogs with cancer! My sympathy to owners! I hope you will have a better experience. Ask reception to confirm which doctor are you actually seeing!

Terrible experience with this clinic! I was given conflicting information from staff members. I was told my dog would recover after surgery on his spine. Every day the staff reassured me that he was getting better and would fully recover. After being called to pick up my dog, I returned home without him. They had forgotten to check his vitals the past few days and did not realize that he had lost feeling in his feet! A MRI the next day confirmed that the dog’s spine had got worse. After speaking to the surgeon it became clear that the initial surgery was not a success and the disc was not successfully fixed the first time. They wanted to perform two more surgeries on the dog that were extremely invasive and uncommon. Unfortunately I ended up putting the dog down because he had suffered enough already and the chance of him regaining the ability to walk and urinate again was minimal. I would never recommend this clinic.

I've brought 3 dogs there over 14 years. I wish it wasn't needed (cancer clinic) but am grateful that they're there. They are all amazing especially Melanie who cares for your pets as though they were her own. Everyone and everything there is top notch. Again, I wish my beloved babies didn't have lymphoma but happy that there's a place that helps and cares for them!

Recently our dog Jazz developed a severe anemia and needed to be hospitalized for several days. Upon entering the clinic we were greeted by a wonderful caring tech who lovingly carried our precious dog into the back of the clinic. She was there for 4 days undergoing several necessary tests. Davis our student vet was fantastic, calling us twice a day every day and Dr. Shannon Westgarth was equally caring and informative explaining everything and also calling us with updates. No one wants their animal to have to undergo expensive, painful testing but we can't say enough about the care we received at the OVC during a very stressful time. Thank you Dr. Shannon from the bottom of our hearts for the care Jazz received right from the front desk to the students etc. We are forever grateful.

Zeke the Amazing Portuguese Water dog has been visiting Guelph regularly for 2 1/2 years. First Dr. Lerer saved him from Blastomycosis. He was kind, carrying and compassionate. He called everyday with updates. We are forever grateful to him. In June, Zeke was diagnosed with terminal cancer. We have been seeing Dr. Melissa Parson-Doherty for the treatment. She is a star! When conventional therapy did not work she was onboard with alternatives. She returns calls and emails 24/7. Zeke has received the best care possible from the U of G and we have been pleased and impressed with the level of service and the care he has gotten from Dr. parsons and Melanie. We had one occasion when we saw Dr. Richardson and she is also great! Thank you all!

We had our dog there for a neurological issue. She was seen as an outpatient and received wonderful care. The neurologist did a range of tests and did not charge for anything we did not want. Our dog has been on a great path for over a year & the small animal clinic was always wonderful with fitting us in. The price was much less than we expected. the only negative feedback I have is with the one admin staff at payable counter- she could have been kind to us at least but was rude and quite disrespectful a few times. everyone else was wonderful.

Nightmare of incompetent referring vet and junior vet resulted in dog given drug to which he was allergic. Subsequent lies and cover -up. Agonising death delayed because I was not told the truth. This clinic used to be great, and may still be o.k. for straight forward surgery. AVOID FOR MEDICAL PROBLEMS.

I took my dog here to the Ophthalmology department to get his eyes looked at. I was very nervous about this appointment and about how they would handle my dog because he isn't the most social dog around new people especially vets. They handled him very well, were patient and very gentle with him. Explained every thing they were doing and giving him and explained things they were seeing as they saw them. I drove 1.5 hours one way to see this vet and I will be doing it again next year. I recommend them highly. They have my complete trust that they will take care of my dog, and it takes a lot to gain my trust as an owner from a horrible experience with a previous vet I used to see. Final bill was $211 after tax and it was WELL worth it.

My brother took his cat to this clinic with fatty liver. Once he was admitted they kept saying he may possibly have cancer. The cat got injected with sedatives 30x stronger than morphine. He developed muscle issues where the lactic acid was failing his muscles. Also, he developed fluid build up in his stomach. This all happened in 3 days. It was clear this place only cares about money and not your animal. They will pull at your heart strings. The cat was fine once he was taken to another Vet. Guess what? He only had FATTY LIVER!!!! They DEMAND you pay them FULL up front. The total bill was $3,200.00. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!! THEY WILL KILL YOUR ANIMAL IN ORDER TO DO THEIR OWN TESTING AND MAKE MONEY, WILL MAKE YOU SIGN A WAVER SO THEY'RE NOT HELD RESPONSIBLE, AND DON'T GIVE A **** ABOUT YOUR ANIMAL!!!

I brought my 4 year old cat the because I was refured there by my mornal vet, on the persumption that he had a bad liver problem. I was quoated 1500 max, he was there for 3days and 3nights I was getting calles from there air headed inturns saying he's fine and other calls from 2 diffenern vets one saying he's going to die, one saying he hav panetitc, toxoplazmoses, liver failer, lukimia, and a about 5 other magor problems , they talk in cicles and just want money before I know it I was 2500 in the whole and had no answer ! And then they said he had fluid building up in him abdomen (uppon doing resurch I found out that its coused by a whole being punchured in his stomack with was not there uppon arival) , when I was trying to send him to another vet, they held off on sending then to the other vet that can treat me cat for( thousands less!) They waited till the other vet was closed and made me pay another $800 for another night! Not happy at all they don't care and just wat money! KILLER

I took my 3 month old puppy here when the poor thing broke her leg. The service from everyone was AWESOME!!! Dr.Patten did her surgery and called after to let me know how she was and everything about the procedure and to answer any questions i had. Thank you again. The student, Christina was such a caring and informative young lady and i know leaving my baby in her care she received nothing but the best treatment. If nothing she was probably a little spoiled :) The morning and nightly calls i received for updates kept my mind at rest and were more helpful then one might think that has never been in this situation. Of course the cost of surgery was high..but i also had to consider all they did for her. When this orginally happened i took her to her normal vet where it cost me $400 just for them to tell me she broke her leg. So for what it cost for everything Guelph did...it wasnt that much more. IF you love your pets you will do anything for them...im thankful she is home now!xox

My dog got hit by a car and broke his one hip and fractured his other. The local vet told us our only option other than euthanasia was Guelph. No one had much hope for him, but when we took him there they fixed him all up. The staff was nice and they called us everyday with updates. They let us come in whenever we were available and stay for as long as we wanted to visit him. Now that he is home he is as good as new. So I owe a lot to Guelph because without them I wouldn't have my puppy.

After admitting our 8 year old Chevy with cancer, doctors were very understanding and helpful to us, and although we lost him at surgery, it was not their fault. Cancer is a terrible thing, and euthanasia was the kindest thing for our dog once surgery discovered the worst. Awesome place..thank you for everything, your efforts and sympathy. Your follow up call was appreciated, Dr. Paris. We have made a donation to 'Smiling Blue Skies' in Chevy's name and will be visiting the donor clinic with our other dog to help 'play it forward'.

Before they euthanized my 1 year old dog they submitted him to horrendous pain, and surgeries. This clinic specializes in cancer - but they put the dog and us through hell before they found it and then killed him. It's all about the money.

I can't speak for the whole clinic itself, but steer clear of Dr.Mantovani. She is careless, does not explain things, and she is ignorant of statistics when making decisions which your dog's life may depend on. Beware.

This is a rating for the Primary Care Clinic at the OVC. They took us in under extreme circumstances and after talking to multiple clinics who treated us rudely and turned us down. Very friendly, helpful staff, and they came right to the parking lot to bring our dog inside due to an emergency. Vet interns came out every fifteen minutes to check on us and update progress. The receptionist sat with us and talked for a long time. Yes, the centre is more expensive, but you get quality service and immaculate facilities. We've made this place our regular vet. You have shown us what quality service is! Thank you!

Service is more expensive than regular clinics and they charge parking! The vets in training are accommodating, but still lack experience. However, Vicky, the receptionist has been there FOREVER--and she is on top of the list for RUDE, UNACCOMMODATING, LACK OF EMPATHY AND PROFESSIONALISM. Oh well, at least she can say she is well known in Guelph!

Visited the Small Animal Clinic several times for my cat. She was hit by a car and required intensive lifesaving surgery by the specialists of Guelph. The services provided were top-notch. Caring and compassionate vets. Receptionists were a tad rude, but the real service provided was WORTH it. My cat is alive and happier than she ever was before. It was an expensive ordeal, but their prices were fair. The Guelph Small Animal Hospital is my favorite vet so far.

I cannot begin to praise this hospital enough. They are compassionate, caring and know what they're doing! We took our dog there for a rare eye condition that we had already spent close to $2000. for treatment at Willowdale animal hospital with no improvement. Guelph took care of our dog 24/7 for several days, did expensive tests including a CT of his eye for less than half of what we had spent at Willowdale. We will be taking our dog there in future. It's worth the drive!!The vets called on a regular basis to keep us updated on Jordy's condition and were absolutely wonderful!!

I had two cats with megacolon. After years of medical management for the one when that stopped working and I had no choice but surgery I came here. Dr. Brigitte Brisson operated on my cat at 14 years old and he lived to be 20. My other cat also had megacolon so I had the surgery here as well by the same surgeon. Same turnout. Fantastic. Here surgery was in 2001 and she has had no further problems. I highly recommend the small animal clinic in Guelph. They are tops in my books.

I was referred to this clinic by my regular vet when my beloved dog developed multiple problems that required specialized care. I cannot begin to say how pleased and impressed I was with every aspect of this experience. My dog was on death's door but a very talented, highly-skilled Veterinary Resident named Dr. Avril Jolett-Hamel worked extremely hard to keep him alive and comfortable. The work that she and ALL team members did was truly miraculous. I have nothing but great things to say about this clinic and the people who work there.
