I took my puppy to 48th Ave Animal hospital in the middle of an emergency, as the puppy had broken his leg. The 48th Ave team came through for me, when all of the other local vets wouldn't help as it was too close to their closing time. All the staff, and the Dr's were amazing and totally compassionate. I will take all my pets here now! They actually care!

Took my cat here to be neutered and to get a microchip implant. That went reasonably well but received a phone call from Dr Sharma about a weeping eye. Quoted a cost of $30 for the test and $20 for any drops that might be needed. I had the test done but didn't want the drops. They kept pushing the drops which I eventually paid for. After taking the cat home and applying the drops once or twice I never really could tell which eye was the one with the issues and was never told. There was no weeping in either eye. Be careful here and be aware of any additional work the vet calls for. Seemed more interested in making a few more dollars out of your visit.

I (The Cozy Canine) run a dog business. I have had the pleasure of using 48Ave Veterinary services for many years.I have and highly recommend them to clients, friends and family. Dr Sharma is up to date with many procedures and is knowledgeable with animals.I find Dr Sharma to be honest and open. I cant say enough about his staff, they are as well up to date and well educated in the veterinary procedures. With regards to my business I have visited many other Veterinary clinics, overall 48 Ave comes out on top, this includes, services, knowledge, compassion, follow up and price. Berta LeBlanc

The doctor kept me waiting for a half hour past the appointment time and while I was waiting with my dog the office cat scratched my dog and give him a cut. The doctor didn't even apologize and then tried to invoice me for the ointment for the cut HIS cat gave my dog. DO NOT GO THERE, this guy only sees animals as dollar signs

I really want to thank Dr Sharma and his staff for taking such good care of my dog. When my previous Vet retired, I was desperately looking for someone who can be as trustworthy . I found Dr Sharma to be very friendly, knowledgeable and very compassionate at the same time. His style of practice is very honest and straightforward. The staff is very nice too. I am always greeted with my first name and they always ask about how my other pets are doing. Dr Sharma has always been very helpful in answering my questions over the phone whenever i panicked. i also love the fact that they always call to check how my pets are doing after my appointment. I am very happy to have this clinic in my neighborhood
Thanks again Dr Sharma and the staff.

Took my dog there for a urine analysis and was told dog do not normally get bladder infections so blood tests will be a better indication of what the issue is based on the symptoms I was describing. The expected me to collect the urine sample in a bowl outside on a short walk(didnt happen). Then I come the test results surprise surprise they came back clean...then Sharma says well sounds like he has a bladder infection, my dog had one once and the symptoms were the same!!!! ?? Might as well put him on antibiotics to be safe seeing as how you cannot get a blood sample. Get to the front desk and $355 the bill rings up. $150 for the "blood test" that came up clean (duh)...which he did not disclose the cost prior... I opted out of the rest of the services and medication and will be taking my dog elsewhere. I wish I saw this site before I went there!

I love to bring my pets to Dr Sharma and his friendly staff. dr Sharma did an excellent job with my dog's critical surgery where we had really no hope initially. my dog who really is our baby is happy again and hopefully have have more years to spend with us now. I live in the community and know a lot of people who really have good things to say about this vet clinic. dr Sharma's approach is always honest and the prices are reasonable and fair. Thanks a ton Dr Sharma and staff. Cheers!!!!

I brought my cat here on a Sunday for a cut that had started to get infected. I arrived to my appt 15 min early to get the paperwork done. I waited for 30 min after my scheduled time until I was brought to an exam room and then continued to wait for another 15-20 min until Dr. Sharma arrived. My cat did not like him at all and became difficult. The Dr. said that he had to sedate my cat and then did. I was not told how much the shot would cost nor the side effects that might come up, he also did not try to subdue my cat by hand. He the left saying he would be back in 5 min. 20+ min later my cat was starting to move again and I had to go ask the receptionist to find the Dr. when he still didn't come back, the asst. took my cat to the back and sent me to the front to wait. The whole ordeal took 2 1/2 hours and cost me over $300 for and exam and antibiotics. My cat had the same problem earlier this year and my regular vet was $79 and 30min. I will not be going back and am warning others.

I visited 48th avenue for my cat that has been urinating outside of his litter box for almost 3 months. my previous vet could never give me a satisfactory answer as a result of which i had almost made a decision to surrender my cat to SPCA. On a friends recommendation I visited 48th ave for a second opinion, and iam glad i did.my cat was rightly diagnosed and treated. The Vet Dr Sharma was very good with my cat too.will definately be coming back for my other pets too.the staff is great and the place has a very friendly overall feel to it.

The girls in the front seem very nice. The vet however doesnt seem very caring or personable. I brought my cat in there due to concerns I had about her face. He looked at her, took blood for tests, gave her an anti inflamitory shot and some pain pills. That cost a pretty penny. Another vet called me with the test results and led to believe one thing and when the vets office called to check on my cat I talked to the vet and he said something different. He wanted me to bring her in for more tests and xrays and which was going to cost even more. He also made me feel like i was a horrible person for not wanting to put my cat through the stress of going for more tests and xrays. I opted to go to another vet office to get a different opinion. The vet at the other office had one look at my cat and knew right away what was wrong with her (she had a tumor) and said she could do tests and xrays but it would just be a waste of money and unnessesary pain and suffering for my cat.

They are always late. I never get in on time! The receptionist seems very over whelmed and I always feel rushed. Dr. Sharma is not very personable. I mention several times what some of my concerns are & am disappointed when I leave that I realize not all of them were addressed. I have never been thanked for my business. I have 5 pets that go there and you'd think I'd get some sort of group rate discount at times, but nothing.

I had no problems at all with Dr Bath anbd she was kind, thoughtful and understood my financial situation. Now Dr Sharma seems alright but does not allow for my using human equivalents of veterinary prescriptions. Also a $20-35 Convenia shot cost me $65 at this clinic.

Friendly staff and great vet. They usually see the very same day you call. The prices although not cheap, are very reasonable.Dr. Sharma takes time to explain procedures and is very gentle and caring towards my cats.He never recommends unnecessary things, and that is what i like about him the most. This place is open for extended hours, is conveniently located and you will find lots of parking space across the street.Good place for your pets.Highly recommended.

I can't understand the bad reviews. We have taken all of our pets to Dr Bath for years, and she performed miracles - our pets always got diagnosed quickly and got better fast. In at least a couple of occasions, Dr Bath was directly responsible for saving the lives of our cats / dog. Dr Sharma is easily as good, I have had to take 2 dogs and a cat to him in the last month - he diagnosed and cured them all. Wonderful clinic, wonderful staff.

Don't bother taking your guinea pig here. Mine stopped eating and we figured it was a dental problem & possibly a mild infection somewhere. He barely looked at her, (no buccal pad separators, just opened her mouth with his fingers and didn't even feel around for spurs) said she had a loose tooth & said he might have to sedate her to deal with her problem.(+$30) Luckily I said no. He took her to the back & just clipped her front teeth & that was it. Definitely not something that would EVER require sedation! I then asked him about her caked up eyes at which point he looked at her & said she had a small abscess near a back tooth & suggested antibiotics(+$25) saying that I could "give it to her and see how it went". I said no & am glad I did. I have since found out they would have done absolutely nothing for a closed abscess if she had one. Wasted $60 and a lot of driving for zero help. My guinea pig still can't eat & is just as miserable as before we brought her there. Be Warned!

Dr. Sharmal spayed my dog and it was the best spay ever - she was sent home the same day, simply looked as if nothing had happened to her,she was all up and awake and happy as ever. - no stitches or staples. Dr.sharma is a very good vet and a very gentle person.genuinely cares for your pets and will always go an extra mile to help you.one of my friends cat had a severe cut wound on the leg which was profusely bleeding, Dr sharma was kind enough to come to the clinic during after hours and fix the cat ...and for no extra charge...that was an extraordinary gesture. I recommend him highly

We recently took our little Pomeranian to this hospital as she was peeing in the house and had never done so before. The new vet, Dr. Sharma diagnosed her problem right away - crystals filling the bladder. She had surgery and is doing great. Dr. Sharma was very knowledgable about her condition and provided good after surgery care, i.e. overnight stay and follow-up visits and staff even called afterward to find out how our dog was doing. We do have vet insurance (highly recommended for anyone with a pet) so could take our pets anywhere but Dr. Sharma's hospital is open 7 days a week so we don't have to take time off work to take our two pets to the vet. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Also rates are very reasonable compared to some other vets.

I have taken my dog to this clinic several times and found that the staff was very nice and carring as was the vet. I took my pet to them again several weeks ago because i couldnt get in to see my regular vet and found that the proctice was under new managment and owner ship. The staff was very knowledgeable, helpful and caring as well as efficient and took time to make sure that my self and my pet where properly looked after. The new vet was very good. He attended to me quickly and was able to diagnose the problem quickly and did not beat around the bush when i asked questions. Also the vet works 7 days a week and is avalible starting at opening and stays in clinic untill closing time unlike the previous vet. Over all i am far more impressed with the new staff and vet and would gladly recommend this clinic to anyone.

I boarded my cat here once and will never go back again. First the music was very loud so intake was extra distressing for him, BUT, then he came home with open undiagnosed sores that they had failed to notice or tell me about. A trip to my regular vet was able to diagnose him immediately. DO NOT BOARD YOUR CAT HERE!

Not particularly impressed. Only took my cat here because it was the only vet open. Cost more for tests etc. than I was expecting (and I was expecting expensive), and when those were inconclusive, she was talking about more tests, as though to gauge what we were willing to pay, as opposed to diagnosing the problem. Taking the cat to our regular vet tomorrow... who has a GOOD rating.

I take my pets to Dr Bath and her staff and have always had wounderful care of my pets. Her prices are reasonable and while her staff my not have all the answers to questions at that particular time they go out of their way to get the answers for you as soon as possible. Dr Btah and her staff are compassionate and they will do everything in there power to help your pet and try to save you as much money as possible. I have call dr Bath in the late hours of the night with questions and consers for my pet and she was very willing to travil to her clinic to meet me for a consolation. I have never found that type of commitment at any other vetrenary clinic and I am very greatfull to her and the staff of 48th ave Animal Hospital

Have taken my cat there. Not pleased with the service at all. The sign on the door says open from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday but the vet is never in the office until at least 11am and is gone again by 2pm. Took my cat in at 9am and was told the vet will be in around 11:30 None of her staff have any veterinary training at all which I find very poor. If you ever have an emergency with you pet do not go near the place as you will have to wait at least one half hour or more before the vet arrives at the office. There should be a vet there at all times for emergencies as none of her staff are trained at all.

I took my little abyssian to Dr. Jaswinder Bath at 48th Ave Animal hospital in Ladner who over sedated her and kept in an ice cold room on a bare metal cage for 20 hours. She was unconscious so I rushed her to the Van Emer Animal Hosp, who diagnosed hypothermia (her temp was 32) and it took them 5 hours for them to warm her and revive her. As a result she came down with pneumonia because Dr Bath has fed her something to "calm her down" before she even sedated her and she also contracted **** while under the "care" of Dr Bath. While unconscious she had vomitted and inhaled the vomit. She said the cat had cuts in her throat, but the vets at the Emergency hospital said this was not true.I reported her to the BCVMA. They found her guilty. Dr Bath was given the choice of losing the right to practice or to admit what she had done and pay for the investigation and take retraining. She chose the latter and is still practicing. Warn everyone about her.

Our 9 yr old cat, not an outdoor cat, had gotten out of the house had been lost for 6 weeks. When the local Animal Shelter found him he was emaciated and had an upper respiratory infection. The gave him some fluids, and advised us to take him to a vet right away for IV fluids and antibiotics. Because it was Sunday, we took him to Dr. Bath. She took Xrays & bloodwork, and said she'd give him fluids and keep him overnight. She called us later that same afternoon, and told us to take him home. When we came for him, his neck was shaved and bleeding from nicks that later became infected. She said it was too difficult to give him fluids, so didn't. She charged us $500. for the XRay, bloodwork, and tapeworm medication. We took him to our usual vet the next day where he was given antibiotics and ongoing treatments that were more effective and cost less than that 1 visit to 48th Avenue Animal Hospital. Also, the staff was more interested in her pizza than in helping us.

This animal hospital was a disgrace. They quoted us a price of $300 to 350 max if she stayed for two days. We were so disgusted by their services we took her out after 2hours and they charged us $360!!!. The vet wiped of the thermometer used to take a rectal temp with her bare hands (no gloves and a tissue) When we went to pick her up we saw that the IV has clearly gone interstitial and her arm was completely infiltrated to three times that of the other. The worker however tried to assure me this was a normal repsonse to Iv therapy. The staff then proceeded to give me a antiobiotic (metronidazole (Flagyl)) and another medication for deworming which she knew nothing about. She was unaware of the side effects the proper dosage and wasn't even able to tell me why my dog was being put on it. I then asked how much was infused into my dog and she was completely unaware. AS I wzs finishing up with the inflated bill the staff members freinds hit the windows swearing at her to hurry up

Dr. Bath has taken care of my two cats, and helped us deal with our cats heart disease, and was very compassionate when we made the decision to put him to sleep. The costs are reasonable, and they really try and help financially by not charging for certain things that normally vets would. They also sent us a lovely card when our cat passed away.
