Dr. Qi and his staff are wonderful. Happy to answer all my questions and are so wonderful towards our shy cats our dogs are always happy to eat all the cookies. Dr.Qi has gone out of his way to help us so many times. He's a wonderful veterinarian and I wouldn't go anywhere else!

My cat got out of the house and was missing for a month and a half. We luckily got him back and brought him straight to a vet. I have kids so i decided it was a good idea to de-worm him. The second treatment of dewormer my cat reacted to which is not common but i guess it does happen time to time. I brought him back in and the Dr. gave me everything i would need to make him comfortable and to help him heal. The reception made sure to follow up with me to see how he was doing and they even called the company of the product so they were aware. He still has a little wound but it is healing and looks so much better. I appreciate everything the Dr did for me and my fur baby and i appreciate the friendly reception ladies who were able to get me in when i needed to most. I will only take my pets here from now on.

'Holistic', yet the first words out of his mouth were 'need surgery'. I needed to ask him on other options, which after a round of anti biotics and a diet change, made a significant improvement. Archaic facilities and his 'bed side' manner with my dog was terrible. I've changed vets. Dr. Qi - please read these posts and make some changes. INVEST in your practice and don't be so bloody cheap. You're prices are high, why you so cheap?

I've known this clinic since i moved to calgary in 2002. Dr. Qi's english should have improved by now Maybe that's why info is still not volunteered. I was there nov 2014. Had to pry info from him about my cat just diagnosed with cancer, and even for need to know stuff. Barely looked at the tumour, almost like he was afraid of my cat or just unconcerned. He did however have a $100 bottle of chinese herbs. NEVER will go back. The net is better than this guy. 90 bucks for info I already knew. How is this place still in business? I've had my cats to vets for almost 20 years now and this is one one the worst places I've been to. I was readings the ratings on this place before I retuned a second time but thought it must have improved after all this time, but no.

This vet clinic is amazing! With same day appointments available and the care and love the staff has given is absolutely amazing! I was given choices for procedures instead of a quick one time option that usually requires a lot of money. I've never seen a more caring vet. When he comes into the room, you are immediately comforted by the doctors kind and quiet personality. He explains why he believes in certain treatments and understands when you are in a financial slump. I recommend him more then ever! Not to mention, he houses two of the most happiest cats I've ever met! Which means he's doing something right! Even after surgery, when a client is picking up their pets, he comes out to greet them! Front staff are also amazing, with wonderful attitudes and genuine care .

I work at a vet clinic and have been for 7 years. This place is a complete joke. He made a judgement that I wouldn't spend money on my dog for holistic treatment. FYI I spent over 12000 on my dog this year. Money is not an issue for me. Because I look younger than what I am he refuse to give me holistic supplements because it would be to expensive for me. Also he didn't even know what he was talking about. He wasn't listening to me at all. DO NOT GO HERE. IF YOU WANT A HOLISTIC VET GO TO MARDA LOOP OR CROWFOOT. He is a waste of 80 dollars !

Made an appt for 2:30, at 3:15, still no vet. Just came in for a titre test. Prices for neutering are $100 more than even the higher priced vets in the city. Maybe it's a good vet but I cant' be bothered to make my dog sit there and be anxious for that long.

We have been taking our cats to Dr Qi for many years. He has been very compassionate and kind. When our elderly cat had to be euthanized, he made a house call to reduce the stress for both the cat and us. The staff are friendly and very caring.

I have been going to see Dr Qi and his staff for many years. I had a st poodle that was diagnosed with a stomach tumor. Other vets wanted to remove the tumor and only leave him with 1/4 of his stomach. Dr Qi put him on special herbs. I called them anti cancer pills! In under a year the tumor was gone. My poodle was about 4 years old then. He finally died at the ripe old age of 14. If not for Dr Qi he would have had a very serious surgery. Thank you everyone there. My other pets love going in to visit with the staff. They think it is the best place ever. Dr Qi is the only vet I have gone to that actually cares about the animals and what is good for them.

Fantastic! I have been bringing my Rottweiler, Diablo, and my 2 cats (Sam and Missy) to Dr. Qi at the Calgary Holistic Vet Clinic for years. I find the staff to be absolutely wonderful, and always very helpful. The front desk staff is always great with Diablo and truly are animal lovers. They always remember our pet’s names and always have their favorite treats on hand. I have never seen Dr. Qi show any fear towards Diablo who is fearful of men and can be slightly aggressive. Dr. Qi is very good with him, and takes everything very slow.
Two of our pets have been on different herbs for different issues (bladder stones and stomatitis). In both cases, the herbs alleviated their suffering and helped control the issues.
It is very unfortunate that so many people are so quick to call Dr. Qi a cash grab. He is a wonderful Veterinarian who, in my opinion is well educated and truly cares about each individual pet.

I had my cat treated by Dr Qi after she had refused all food, water and treats for a full week. She was almost dead, and Dr Qi was able to give her fluid intravenously (through her paw) and performed acupuncture to alleviate the depression she was suffering from. My cat was back to being a fluffy, purring ball of joy within just a few days of treatment. I'll never forget the desperation that brought us to the clinic, or how well she responded to the treatments. She's 14 years old now, and still as active as she was when she was 2. It was an amazing journey for both my cat and myself. The only real downsides were: the cat had to stay at the clinic (total cost was around $800) for 1 week of treatment & kennel, and the rooms were NOT clean (fur/treats/dust behind furniture).

Not holistic at all:( I was soo happy I had a holistic vet until I required treatment for my dog. I read the reviews and thought this can't all be true. Trust me, it is... I took my healthy 6 year old dog in for an exam and Dr Qi panicked and said we need to remove lumps immediately. I left crying. He also upsold me on teeth cleaning. Yes, he is a cash grab. $1500 later, my dog had NOTHING!! wrong with him and other vets would have recommended chiro. My dog is traumatized. It was a dangerous surgery and he is still not the same. The staff were even afraid of my dog (he is big but not agressive...) I don't know if he is god with cats, but stay away if you are looking for holistic medicine. Try the marda loop vet clinic. These people should be call the holistic vet. Shame on you Dr Qi.

I took my beloved 13 year old dog to this clinic and I can tell you that I wholeheartedly DISAGREE with those of you who say that DrQi doesn't know much about Holistic medicine. He was very kind toward my dog. She was diagnosed with Cushings disease which has no cure. The medications to treat the symptoms of this illness do more harm than good, so I decided to try traditional chinese medicine to alleviate the symptoms being that my own vet basically sent me off saying that there was nothing she could do. Dr. Qi told me that he has formulated his own herbs and treatment for this disease and has had great success over the past 10 years in treating it.What you must understand about TCM is that it is not a quick fix. I told my regular vet about the fact that my dogs back legs seemed to be a little bit weaker than her front legs. She did nothing about it and blew it off as nothing.Dr.Qi immediately saw that my dogs right leg was weaker that her left leg. Overall, he was great!

I found staff at this clinic to be clueless. The floors filthy. And Dr. Qi- well, he erroneously administered a test on my dog, and came up with an erroneous diagnosis. I did my research, and confronted him about what happened and the erroneous test results. He was quick to send me a letter to never return again! This was $800 later. Never again. This clinic obviously does not know how to practice veterinary medicine with any competence.

I found Dr. Qi very disconnected and not compassionate. I spent a lot of money on Acupuncture which wasn't helping. I always had to bring up what sort of tests he should take as he never recommended anything. He rushed me out of the room all the time and I never understood what he was saying. I am now putting my dog down in a few days and taking him to another vet because I know I will get no compassion from Dr. Qi.

I was lured by the word "holistic" in the company name, but I dont' consider Dr. Qi very holistic . I came to him for a 2nd opinion on lymphoma. He immediately wanted to do an aspiration (needle biopsy). I know this can potentially spread cancer, but being under the care of a "professional" I let myself be pressured into it, with his reasoning that we have to know what we are dealing with first, even despite the telling X-rays and previous bloodwork. I asked if he could Rx chinese herbals based on it being lymphoma without doing the aspiration ... the herbals wouldn't HURT my dog. But alas, he would not. So my dog was poked SIX times in the throat (where the lump was); Dr. Qi could't get a good sample. My dog was hiding and crying in the corner already; I felt AWFUL. Worst of all results came back inconclusive due to poor sample. Anytime I tried to discuss possible other explanations for my dog's symptoms, Dr. Qi didn't want to hear me - very rushed and short. Never again!

This vet clinic issued my cat medication that was intended for dogs. When I called as my cat seemed in distress they asked me to verify what they had given me. I ended up having to take my poor cat into the clinic to have his stomach pumped... to make up for it Dr. Qi gave me my money back for the prescription (minus the pill I had given my cat) and a gift card to return at a later date, ya right!

Took my dog for a consultation about her lameness in one leg. Dr. Qi took an xray and said there was nothing showing on the xray - must be tendonitis. He prescribed and administered accupuncture. After 3 treatments, dog was getting worse. I took the dog to a different vet clinic (Dr. Olynyk - Edgemont :)) along with Dr. Qi's xray. Dr. Olynyk immediately spotted the osteosarcoma in my poor dog's leg. Obviously, I will never go back to Dr. Qi again! His poor veterinary abilities caused her much pain and suffering, as well as robbing me of my hard-earned money!

I did not find Dr. Qi to be well informed on holistic vet medicine. I have a purebreed dog and I was concerned about too many vaccines at once, but he did not want to listen to my concerns. He pressured me into giving my puppy the rabies vaccine, even when my puppy was too young to do so. My cat was spayed by him and he did an awful job, the incision was very long and now my cat's stomach sags (I have never seen such a bad job with all the cats I have had). My cat was also very traumatized from her time at the clinic, and the receptionist complained that my cat had scratched her. I don't recommend this clinic, there are many other vets in Calgary that are more open to holistic ideas.

Usually what happens is the Calgary Holistic Vet does the SNAP spay neuter program-this is assisted program for low income Calgarians. The Manager did not call because most of the time they postpone calls to low cost customers. If the place is dirty it is not good but when you get financial assistance for that surgery you can not expect good care is being taken for the cat.Average for a cat spay is $250-$300. The deceased kitten's owner likely had to pay $50-$60 for the surgery. Was preanesthetic blood work consented? Was intravenous fluids for additional $50 requested. I am sorry to hear the kitten did not make it but pay the acctual cost first before you try to judge an experienced professional. You wanted to save money and just had a bad outcome.Next time ask for all those presurgical procedures, pay the extra cost and the chance for successful surgery increases dramatically.

My perfectly healthy 7 month old kitten was spayed at this clinic. We never got to bring her back home as she passed away after the spay surgery. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND EVER TAKING YOUR ANIMAL TO THIS CLINIC. She was healthy and passed away after the surgery of an apparent heart attack and I have to actually wait until monday for the manager to call me and let me know if I will get my money back after losing my precious cat under their care.

The clinic is filthy and old and there was no chairs in the room to sit. The exam room wasn't cleaned and full of pet hair. Dr. Q didn't take a history of my pet and was rushed by double booking my dog and another patient at the same time. His staff consisted of one very slow receptionist. However the strangest thing: he was trying to flog perfume and room misting samples. He was clearly only interested in making money.

I was not happy at all with the care my chihuahua received here. The exam room had not been cleaned or even tidied after the previous animal. Doctor had obviously not reviewed our file before coming into the room, and was about to re-administer the same vaccination my dog had received 2 weeks prior, until I corrected him. My dog had been having occasional seizures and the doc was ready to hand me anti-convulsant drugs immediately -- did not ask for a seizure log, inquire about diet or possible toxins, or do a liver function test. I chose this clinic because of the "holistic" philosophy, but doc was dismissive of my inquiries about alternative treatments or herbal remedies. He also seemed surprised that my 5-pound chihuahua had small veins(!), and thus it took 3 tries to get an adequate blood sample. In spite of all this, the office staff are awesome. Wish I could say the same about the doc.
