They have been my vets for over 35 years. I even moved 2 hrs away and still come back to Toronto just to have them care for my dogs. I couldn't ask for anymore. They've handled just about everything for me and did so very well. They know I can't afford big bills and find ways to cut costs for me. All my dogs love the vets and the vet techs. The key staff have been their for forever which says something about how well they care for their staff as well as their patients. Highly recommend them as long as Dr Weintrop remains on board. It was a sad day with Dr Kennedy retired. She was a wonderful surgeon. I still remember my first appointment. She treated my dog without knowing anything about me and send me how with vet food and no charge for her services. When my dogs passed I got beautifully written sympathy cards and a donation in their memory to Pet Trust. They are a caring team of wonderful professionals.

Staff are pleasant but you better have deep pockets or you're in for a shock. Make sure you get every cost in writing BEFORE any services take place regardless of their insistence in needing xrays, blood work, etc. They will charge for the smallest thing so listen carefully and refuse, in writing, tests you don't feel are necessary or what you really can't afford. In my experience they 'talk' compassionate but care more for the money they can get from you than your pet. What you are verbally told will cost a few hundred dollars will be several thousand dollars and you won't know until presented with the invoice. Sad.

Sam was our first puppy and we needed guidance. We received guidance, kindness, caring, respect, great skill and knowledge. As Sam aged he began to develop health problems. The wonderful and skilled staff guided us through tests and medications.Just recently Sam took a turn for the worst.Dr.Kennedy led our family through the myriad of tests, consulted with and sent Sam to numerous specialists, answered infinite questions and concerns with kindness, patiencetenerness, ,vast knowledge, great skill, concern, caring and never ending commitment and compassion.During the last month or so of Sam’s life she came to our on countless occasions as we do not drive -even on her days off. Dr.Weintrop attending to Sam on countless occasions. She was always kind, caring, compassionate, devoted, respectful and possessed great skill and vast knowledge. Each staff member showed that caring for animals is not just their job-it is their calling.

I live around the corner so this was the first clinic I went to when my 4 pound dog had a seizure. It was the scariest time. She was literally dying in my arms when I walked in. To my surprised they said 'we are busy, could you come back in an hour?' I was balling my eyes out and left to race her to emerg. I loss her later that wk. and I will never forget that visit. This was not my first time dealing with them and my other two appointments I found them to be pushy for their special food (which is garbage!), and giving me incorrect information (as I do my research!). I would drive a little further and take my pets elsewhere.

Very expensive. Unfortunately, I rarely get the same Vet. Very tight waiting room makes handling my two dogs difficult especially when cats are on the loose. Dr. Weintraup is my preferred Vet but rarely available.

We went to get some Toe Grips for our senior dog. When I called to ask if they had the product, they asked if I needed to make an appointment to fit them, and I said no, as I followed the instructions carefully for measurement on the product's website. When my husband brought our dog with him and asked to purchase Toe Grips, they said that we HAD to make an appointment to fit them. He obligingly booked an appointment, & came back later. He was told it would be a few minutes for them to "fit" the toe grips (which are just rubber beads that fit over the nail), but the vet came back and said it would be 30min. When we got home, we realized that they had trimmed all of her nails very short, to the point that they were bleeding and painful to walk on. Her nails did not require a trim, nor did we ask for them to be done. More to the point, her nails were now too short for the Toe Grips to work correctly!

I have been using Leaside Animal Clinic for almost 20 years. I trust them implicitly. They have always taken excellent care of my three dogs. I suggest you have pet insurance to help defray the costs of treatment. It's worth it.

I've been going there for 12 years and have been through a lot with all my pets. Dr. Weintraub has always gone out of her way to help - even with some feral kittens. I've recommended 4 friends there in the past year alone - all of them happy. Personally I was always amused by the staff member who is getting the mentions here. She's an animal person - not a people person. As long as I understand how she is with my pets I don't need her to be warm and fuzzy with me. And she is FABULOUS with my pets. I guess all these years sitting in the waiting room has given me some insight. Dr. Kennedy has no sense of smell so she's not only great with teeth - she's great with anal glands.

I have been taking my pets to Leaside AC for over 20 years. I would not think of taking them anywhere else. I respect Dr. Kennedy and Dr. Weintrop as our family vets. The staff is kind and understanding, they really go the extra mile. Fox and Mackenzie will always be there with a big hello, not to mention showing the pets where the treat jar is hiding. Keep up the great work ladies.

Dr. Weintrop is one of the most compassionate, caring, understanding and knowledgeable vets you will ever meet. Your pets will be lucky to know her :) She always takes the time to answer your questions and understands that our pets are our treasured family members. She is a one in a million vet! Dr. Kennedy does AMAZING dental work.

I have been a client for over 20 years. Even the staff have been there 10 plus years and a few for over 20. It's nice to see the same faces and they treat you wonderful. Fox and Mackenzie, the clinic cats are the best. Always a joy to see greeting you. I love the docs there. They each have their own personality and tell you like it is. Yea it's a bit expensive but so are others and Vet Emerg sucks your wallet dry! It is Leaside you know. The back girls who look after my babies are fantastic. One girl who is called "the cat whisperer" was awsome with my boy. She was so gentle and actually got him to eat right there after he didn't eat for 4 days! I would highly recommend this clinic and will always be a client as long as I have my babies! Thanks girls!

I have 2 cats, I take them separately to see the vet. One cat was ill...3 visits, 3 different vets. This may just be a preference thing, but my cats are senior & I need a working relationship with a single vet. Also, my 1 cat is high stress. Vet said she felt we should have a cardiac specialist do an ultra sound ($1000) because she "thought" she "might" be detecting a heart murmur. She also said the cat might just be scared. Seriously now? I took the cat elsewhere for another opinion, as I'd never had a vet mention heart murmur before (the cat is 14). Subsequent vet got no indication of any issue with the heart or lungs at all. I wasn't happy with the overall service/not being booked in with the same vet for all visits & I certainly wasn't happy with the casual way in which 1 of the vets was diagnosing a potential heart murmur.

called to ask cost of a specific procedure, was advised a cost (very high) however went anyway. vet asked a few questions, felt the dog, then did the procedure i came for. i then was told that i would be charged for a general exam (which i didn't need, nor did i request), and when i advised that this was unfair practice the vet berated me in public space about how she would be malpracticing if she did not do such a general exam with all procedures??? she obviously missed my point that had i been misinformed, and my 30 dollar visit was now a 120 dollar visit, and this was unfair. other vets there have been good but will never return.

Vet would NOT give eye contact. We adopted a 9 month old lab/ret mix 4 days before bringing him in. He's a bit gun shy and I told her this and asked her not to do anything abruptly before taking a couple of seconds to get to know him. She decided NOT to take my advice and just went right at him with her stethoscope. He growled and backed away behind me (scared) and she FLIPPED out. She told me "there are so many nice labs out there, you don't need to be stuck with this one". What?! She took him out of the room to give him his shotsShe came back and flat out told me I should re-home him. She said she had to use a muzzle to give him his shots.I was SO disheartened that a VET would recommend re-homing a dog that was JUST adopted.I will NOT be setting foot in that clinic again after such a traumatizing experience. Not to mention in the end, she was COMPLETELY overpriced. I can't believe a vet would just discourage someone from trying and just to give up. Do yourself a favor and find a vet

Twice I have been disappointed by Leaside Animal Clinic. First time, my dog's toe was visibly very likely broken, they just gave antibiotics, had to go back for the same problem, and it wasn't until this 2nd time when my dog got x-rayed. So I think I paid kind of double price for the same issue. Second time my dog had a broken tooth, the vet did not even look into her mouth, just gave antibiotics again after a lot of talking. The antibiotics made my dog very sick as well. To me there just seems to be a lot of fumbling or have I just been very unlucky? Having also been a frequent visitor to the vet emergency clinic, there they have always nailed everything right the first time.

I agree. There is one receptionist that is a bit unfriendly, but that's not really what my cat and I are there for. We're there for good health care and advice from the vets themselves. I brought my kitten in to get spayed and the bill was high (as expected at most vets'), but it was very well done. I find the vets at this clinic are very honest and knowledgeable [and of course I can only speak in terms of felines]. My kitten has been seeing Dr. R. Weintrop and she takes her time in answering all of my questions. I also told her about my budgetary constraints and she laid out all my options for me. She even told me that, if I take my kitten to the OSPCA to get spayed (for ~$50), there would be no hard feelings and she would completely understand. I opted for the spay at Leaside instead because the OSPCA is far and other vets nearby did not have a great rating on this site. I'd definitely come back again. It's not just about numbers and $ at Leaside.

I took my dogs to the clinic and they vaccinated the dogs fully and charged me for doing so even though they acknowledged they had the files that clearly stated that the dogs had just been vaccinated by their previous vet. These dogs were also "rescue" dogs and somebody behind the counter made a very inappropriate comment about "how would ever adopt these dogs". A representative of the vet called that evening and apologized and said we would be refunded for the vaccinations that clearly were not necessary (and perhaps dangerous) - and since that date in September, we have received nothing. As a consequence, we will be suing the clinic for a refund that they promised among other damages. It basically is a reminder that the vet is not necessarily going to read the patient files even though they said they did. I would suggest that they never read the files - which would also be supported by their apology and promise of a (never delivered) refund.

Expensive, but similar to other vets in the city. Vets are great, as they always take time to explain and answer questions. When one of my pets died at the age of 16, the vet made a donation to the U in Guelph in my pet's name. One receptionaist is a bit abrasive, but that's not a big deal.
