Dr Childs is great, and pets do get sick this is upsetting its not fair to blame everyone else. In extensive experience with several pets, she and the team care deeply and practice excellent medicine. If you dont want diagnostics just say so and stop being so hateful. Vets and vet nurses have really hard jobs trying to practice good medicine and explaining things to stressed, upset pet parents. I wish people could just communicate without being so aweful, its hard to read

The worst vet doctor we could possibly run into! She is operating “West End Veterinary Clinic” on Denman street. (Please check all the reviews carefully under her vet clinic on google page!!!) All those reviews are legitimate. The clinic has the worst reputation in DT Vancouver. For that reason she has decided to register her name apart from the clinic as Dr. Helen Childs, to make a fresh start and somehow clean up her name.Asking her friends to leave good reviews about her as a doctor, which is not true by the way. She’s THE WORST VET! Her assistant was pushing me to do many very expensive exams, and just forcefully putting them on my bill. Very important moment here, WITHOUT ASKING ME what I would like to do for my kitten but, nor she was EXPLAINING the reason of doing these VERY EXPENSIVE EXAMS. We were basically kicked out from the room after I refused making those exams. They are forcefully selling everything they can, ripping off.The only thing SHE DOES CARE ABOUT is MONEY!

We took our new puppy to this clinic for his diarrhea. They gave us a form to fill out and took our puppy away. One hour later the Vet called me and said our puppy has heart issue and they have to do an Xray. Our pup was good and healthy and the only issue we had was for his diarrhea, Then the Vet said your bill is $500, Our puppy has his own Vet but this time we visited a local Vet. We said OK and I called his Vet right away. He said we checked your pup one week ago and there is no concern. Most puppies have the similar issue when they are little but in most cases it goes away when they grow up.No Xray is needed at this point. 2 minutes later I called the Vet and said we don't need any Xray and we prefer to take him to his own Vet. She said sorry Xray is done. Because we had insurance they tried to convince us to get the money from insurance. The biggest issue I had was that when it is not necessary for an Xray, why they did this to my puppy?!! Very disappointed from their service.

I’ve been here a few times with our dog and at first was really happy with all the staff as well as Dr Child’s Our our first visit we were really worried about how sick our dog was and they did lots of tests bloodwork , X-ray etc and they gave her anti nausea pills and over the next few days she slowly got better but she wasn’t actually treated for anything. I asked after a few days what her test results showed and they said her kidneys had some toxicity and should be tested in a few months but we didn’t really know how or why but she did improve but that cost us $1000 not to really find the reason behind her illness The last visit was a simple check up because she was itching and took her in thinking it would surely not be more than $100 they checked her out no real sign of fleas but prescribed flea meds (better safe than sorry) but also said it could be dietary so suggested I buy a few things to help. The bill was over $300! I was shocked so I asked do I really need the flea med

We haven't been taking our dog to this clinic for too long, but their attitude, knowledgeable and patient responses to my questions and explanations of every step of my dog's surgery by Dr Childs, leave me thinking that we have found a great doctor for our granny-dog ?? The most negative experience I've had here is someone from the staff confusing the food we ordered for a different brand - which is understandable (and tbh not a big deal), if they are as busy clinic as I observed them to be. Even if we end up moving to another part of the city, we will continue bringing our dog here.

This clinic is under new ownership. So if you had a bad experience with the previous vet you should give it another try. The vet is thorough and very engaged. She takes the time to explain things.

We started going to the West End Veterinary Clinic when we found out Dr. Helene Childs had taken over from the previous owner. She is so knowledgeable—she always seems up on the latest regarding any health issue we are addressing, quoting new studies etc. She is so good with all of our pets. She doesn't sell you on unnecessary tests, procedures or medications. She is open to integrative treatment and does her research. She is the best vet we have ever had. We are seeing her now as our 12 year old rottie has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. She is helping us to provide him the best quality of life we possibly can before the inevitable day comes. She has been so helpful and caring through this very difficult time. I highly recommend this clinic if you are looking for veterinary care for your loved one.

After stepping on my cats tail at the start of the exam, the vet proceeded to tell me that my cat had behavioural problems and would need kitty prozac. She actually told me that if I didn't put him on medication, I would end up giving him away or putting him down. I was reduced to tears and there was no compassion or understanding. They seem like money grabbers, pushing unnecessary tests and medications to make money. I AM DONE.

Absurd prices. Charge you for unnecessary options and give you no chance to dispute the bill. The staff is friendly but they are agressive in what they feel should be done to your pet(s) and their estimates are FAR from what you actually pay. These people are scam artists.

The staff are lovely here and very personable and empathetic. My only real issue with them is their pushiness when it comes to unnecessary procedures and their VERY agressive tactics of insisting you pay your bill fully before they have even discovered what is wrong with your pet. These tactics made me extremely uncomfortable.

I had a terrible experience at another clinic and showed up here on the verge of a nervous break down. These guys were amazing and gave me and my cat exactly what we needed. It was our first visit and they spent more than an hour with us (compared to the 5-10 min. I've gotten anywhere else). The vet - Sandy ? is extremely knowledgeable and proffessional - empathetic, everything you are looking for in a vet.

The environment at this clinic is fresh and friendly, especially since they have moved to their new location. A littly pricy, however they really seem to offer quality care. It really helps that they have hours on Saturdays.
