I have been taking my pets to GAH for more than 20 yrs. In contrast to the last review...the fees are reasonable...not the highest in the area and not the lowest. The staff is always helpful and friendly. The Drs. are caring and compassionate and truely care about the animals and their clients. There are no hidden fees and estimates are given when asked for. People need to realize that these are Doctors...what do you pay when you take yourself to get an exam? I have walked in with emergencies several times and have never been turned away because I don't have an appointment. For the most part there is never a wait, but emergencies happen and people show up late. The staff cares and the Doctors care. The doctors follow up with phone calls to see how my pet is doing. Does a human doctor do this? Mine don't! If you want an animal hospital that provides great care at reasonable prices in the DC metro area, Give Gaithersburg Animal Hospital a try.

I never walk out their door without paying at least $150, often over $400. I have taken my multiple pets to Gaithersburg Animal Hospital for two years. I wish I had changed vets earlier. Though there have been no major procedures or operations on my pets, I'm sure I've spent over $10,000 over those years. Biggest complaints: they don't let you see the charges until after you've paid and the office staff seems poorly trained and can't tell if you have already been charged for something.
The vets are nice and helpful and seem very good; but they always charge for an office visit or exam, even if you are getting an optional vaccine (like lyme). And they are salespeople at their core--always pushing optional vaccines (lyme, guardia, kennel cough) and sending "reminder" cards for these vaccines and semiannual exams.
The vet's office is located in a shopping strip mall, which is a ridiculous place to have one.
