Click to report rating    11/7/13   2     4     4     4   Have brought numerous rats and rabbits to this clinic for surgeries and diagnostics. Dr. Prus always does a great job but support staff is unorganized and some inexperienced. Always disappointed with follow ups and aftercare but keep going back because the surgeries are always a success. RID: 48118
Click to report rating    8/21/13   4     4     3     5   We did not have a great experience with Dr Prus. The staff was fine, but every time we saw Dr. Prus, we felt rushed. We felt as though she our concerns were disregarded and our animals left most times untreated or undertreated. We took our pets to see her 4-5 times within a few weeks insisting that things were getting worse, and were left with no choice but to get a second opinion. It turned out that our concerns were valid, and they definitely needed more aggressive treatments immediately. It's now a month later, and one of our pets is doing better, but the other is still in recovery. RID: 46423
4/27/12   4     3     2     1   Follow up on the bird with the fractured leg: never allowed to see the x-ray.Spoke to 3 different receptionists- 3 different estimates (over phone and in person)fee varied wildly.1st Written estimate lacked detailed break-down of $571 fee, what treatment was being done, etc.Bird needed a splint & collar.Week-end Vet (not Dr Prus)was upset I didn't want to pay for a pain-killer I didn't feel was required-leg was immobilized and he was only squacked if up, otherwise fine- birds are hardier than you think.Vet threatened to report me to SPCA!I called SPCA- it's not Animal Cruelty.Bird was slinted well but they put a Rat/Mouse collar on him and it looked and wore poorly.Made a better on at home w/scissors & clean Margarine lid.Charged over $500. Demanded detailed fee breakdown and still $125 was "misc"!You need deep pockets to deal with these people - they don't advise you-they do whatever & you pay-period. Won't be back - ever. Exploitive experience. Shop around!! RID: 33836
4/20/12   4     5     4     3   I was given an $167.00 estimate for treatment (for a possible fractured parrot's leg) over the phone by reception. This was for an X-ray and a splint. This seemed more than reasonable and was a deciding factor to try this Vet out. When I brought my pet in I was hit with an estimate of $571.00 - and I had to leave a $100.00 deposit! A substantial discrepency. Do your homework and shop around. Vets are like any Doctor or Dentist and don't lower themselves to discuss something as crass as money and they let their staff do that - DO NOT TAKE WHAT A RECEPTIONIST TELLS YOU AS GOSPEL! Ask questions and ask alot of questions. That being said, if my beloved critter pulls through and recovers 100% - than the $571.00 is well spent. RID: 33644
Click to report rating    1/13/11   5     4     4     4   If it wasn't so far away I would always go here. For exotic pets (ie, my degus) I still always take them here. Nothing else in the Vancouver area I trust them to. RID: 22037
Click to report rating    8/18/10   5     4     3     5   I have 6 ferrets, so finding a knowledgeable vet for them can be tricky. Lots of vets claim they know ferrets, but I can see thru them. Dr. Prus knows them inside and out - literally. Even the locums that she hires are very competent (Props to Dr. Wall!). Dr. Prus and her staff are all very compassionate and devoted people. My only issue is that the waiting room can get backed up and I remember sitting in there for 30 minutes or so after my scheduled appointment. It's worth it, tho, to have such a wonderful vet care for my animals. I recommend Dr. Prus to anyone with exotics. RID: 19281
Click to report rating    8/17/10   5     5     5     5   Dr. Prus and her staff are very caring and have good animal handling skills. They always take very good care of my lizards. When in the waiting room, I have spoken to other customers with cats, dogs, birds, ferrets and other lizards and they all speak very highly of Dr. Prus. The hospital is very clean and has a calm, but efficient atmosphere. I also find the fees for service are within what I would expect to pay. RID: 19271
