We joined this practice just a little over three months ago.In that time we have lost two very important members of our family. Not one but TWO!! A cat and a dog.When I told the vet that my dog had a bad cough after spending lots of money here getting tests done, she told me to give him cough medicine. When the cough got worse they wouldn't even make time to see him.. told me to go someplace else.. at an emergency clinic they told me that my dog had a bad heart murmur and that he was basically going to drown as his lungs filled up with fluids and the kindest thing would be to put him down. Just 4 days after visiting this clinic,we now had no choice,no warning,done. At the same time one of our cats was diagnosed with diabetes. Too much insulin was given.. she stopped eating and couldn't walk.. they told me she was stoned because of travel pills. They never even asked was there a problem or if that was true..they assumed..We lost her today.. I won't go back there.. ever.

Great local hospital! Friendly and flexible. So much easier to deal with than the now Corporate owned VCA animal climic in Ladysmith!

Our pets always receive exceptional care. The staff are efficient, fit us in quickly for same day service when needed. The Dr.’s are caring and professional. We highly recommend Petroglyph Animal Hospital for consistent, excellent care.

Entered the clinic to two employees making snarky comments about their coworkers and how so many of them are incompetent. Waited 25-30 minutes past our appt time to see the vet. The vet, Maura, did not introduce herself or even ask for my name. Took the cat in for teeth issues, Maura felt his stomach and said he had intestinal cancer and wanted to do an xray. Did the xray, she said its probably cancer so to either do a biopsy or surgery. She was insensitive to this blindside diagnosis and expected an immediate answer. Did not mention all the additional procedures before surgery. Gave my cat a 1/4 of an appetite stimulant saying it will help him eat (even though appetite was not his problem, it was his teeth) and charged $12 for it. I was emotional for a week while I waited for a second opinion from a different vet, who says its highly unlikely its cancer. It turned out to be just a furball. This place is awful, our vet Maura was insensitive and seemed like she just wanted our money

Killed my dog. Came in because he ate a tiny piece of chocolate the day before (he was otherwise fine) They rushed him to to back and I found out that he had been given charcoal, only the vet missed the stomach and flooded his lungs with Charcoal. He crashed and was revived three times. They lied and told me that I should have brought him in sooner....they charged me for the charcoal that killed him and the emergency fee. I paid 2k for them to murder my dog. I pulled my other pets' files and went to another vet

Twice I arrived for appointments I'd been given and was told I had no appointment. Another time, I took in my dog because he had a sudden episode of bloody diarrhea. I took in a sample of the bloody diarrhea for testing, only to have the doctor in charge throw it out and leave for the day, with no explanation as to why. I requested that the hospital owner call me with an explanation, but he never did. When I would ask to be called at work with results of lab tests,they always ignored that request and called me at home, leaving messages which I couldn't get until the end of the day. Recently, my cat had a very serious urinary tract infection & was miserable, not eating or sleeping. The doctor called my home shortly after 8:00 a.m. instead of my work as I'd requested. Had she done so,I could have picked up the antibiotic on my way home from work and had the cat on meds by bedtime. Whenever I had complaints,the staff would be very defensive and not very nice (how dare I complain!).

The staff has been very good in being the backup clinic to The Olympia Oncology Vets. My dog was treated and operated on while we were on holiday and Petroglyph has worked well keeping in contact with Olympia and the Victoria Oncologist regarding the chemo-therapy prescriptions and follow-up blood-work and x-rays. They have been very supportive of us and our dog.

I used to go here but had to go back in an emergency as the other clinic nearby could not take me for another 6 days. The vet was not very friendly, was mad I mentioned I go to another clinic, did not really communicate all that well. The room smelled. They gave me the wrong prescription amount and may have mixed it incorrectly (realized this when I got home) was scared to give it to my cat as I didn't know if the dosage was to concentrated. Someone cannot do math-an important skill in med prescribing. I will never go back!

My rat was very sick and seemed like she was suffering. I called all the vets in town and nobody was available to put her down immediately, and none of them said they sedated before putting a needle into her heart. Petroglyph thankfully would do the procedure humanely, and made time for me immediately. They were compassionate, caring and inexpensive. They even sent me a card the next week, which made me feel better. They treat all animals with compassion, no matter how small.

I took my puppy there almost four weeks ago. I told them his entire back story of where I had gotten him from because he is a stray so he has never been checked up before. I was told to get him de wormed every four weeks and he will be fine. He was supposed to be de wormed this week. However, this morning I woke up to him being super sick from worms.. I phoned the vet immediately. And when I re-told him that he was a stray and his very first de worming was 4 weeks ago. I was told that he should have had it every two weeks.. When I asked why I wasn't informed of this before I was completely brushed off. Needless to say, I have changed vets.

I was one to praise this Vet clinic in the past. The two vets that once were the awesomeness behind this team are gone ( no notice given even though charts stated they we're the only ones allowed to touch my animals) This clinic has turned to a FOR PROFIT clinic. I will never go back after the way the vets treated and tried to make $ off of us with a Terminally Ill animal. Compassion is no longer there, customer for 17 years. No longer one. A big Thank-you too the vet who initially saved my dog 17 years ago as a 6 week old pup. And another thank-you to the vet who came in off mat leave to call me back and save her again from the other vets mistake. Sad to say that now they are gone, The place is horrible.

Petroglyph is a wonderful clinic, I bring all of my animals there! Vets are very knowledgeable and are always putting the well being of my pet first. Front staff are very friendly and informative. I always recommend them!

This place is the worst! The veterinarians do not give a damn if you bring in your pet that is dying which I have twice and they only wanted money right then and there to help they actually watched my pet crying and shaking for 4 hours until they recieved funds to operate. This also happened to 4 other people I know. Someone I know works there and I also met someone else who does to they said its a BAD place and NOT to go there because its about how much they can make in that day and to suggest operations for most pets for the money! This place is very unsanitary when I went to the back that they kept telling me to not go to there were syringes laying around and on floor and dog food everywhere countertops were dirty and brown and floors had urine etc everywhere this place smells as well and overall just NASTY....they also misdiagnose pets ALOT a couple of people have had to make complaints about this as well this place is horrible DONT GO save your pet by going elswhere.You will see.

This establishment puts profits way ahead of animal well being. They are greedy, greedy, greedy, and their front desk staff are unpleasant and not understanding of customers inability/unwillingness to pay hugely inflated prices. Get quotes from other vets before giving them your business

Although happy with Petroglyph for 3 years, have now had one bad experience and have left the clinic. Healthy cat, routine annual checkup, no problems except dental - they gave an estimate of up to $900 which included an extraction of up to 3 teeth, saying that she was in pain urging me to rush the job. So expensive and family members urged a 2nd opinion which came in at half the price, no immediate extractions and a more relaxed time frame. The vet from Petroglyph phoned and reacted to this news badly - unprofessionally in my opinion, saying that people want to "shoot the messenger" and immediately "firing" me from their business twice insisting on transferring my cat's files even though I hadn't thought of it. I'll be happy with the new vet but not at all happy about what happened at Petroglyph. The front office staff have been wonderful which is why I rated Staff 5 on the scale.

They charged me an emergency rate to have my dog looked at when he had hot spots and I was able to make an appointment the day I noticed it. Not cool.

My dog was very ill, and I thought she had an intestinal obstruction. I called a lot of vet clinics, explaining this, and saying "so if I'm right and my dog does have an obstruction, she'll need surgery. If I bring her to you and she needs surgery, how soon will you operate?" Every other vet clinic I talked to said they would keep my dog overnight, then operate the next day. (!!!) There is no way I am going to leave a frightened and ill dog overnight for no good reason, so I kept phoning around. Petroglyph told me to bring my dog in right away, and said that if she needed surgery they would operate within a couple of hours. This is why I went to Petroglyph. As it happened, my dog didn't have an obstruction after all. (Whew.) The vet treated her problem, and she was healthy again in a day or two. We've been back since, and have been pleased at the level of care and compassion we've received at Petroglyph. We recommend this clinic.

they explained everything to me in basic english when my dog was ill. when she started on a new treetment they called my home on the weekend to see how she was doing at no charge. when the dision was made to put her down they came to my home to do it. If i get another dog they are the vet for me.

This vet gave me the worst experience of my life! Reagan tried to put my horse down stating she had a broken pelvis! My friend convince me to wait a couple days! Glad I did!!! It turned out to be a hoof abscess! My horse is in great health and sound again after the abscess blew. I'm glad I didn't take the vets advice. Even though she made it out that I was being cruel for not euthanizing her!! Awful I would never recommend them to anyone!

I hear horrow stories about people taking their pets to the vet and end up paying $500-$1000 for tests. I have only had a few tests done and they were inexpensive and done inhouse ($25.00 each). I don't see the reason for testing everything, have they never seen a rash before? Normally they diagnose the problem, give me medication and then do a follow up phone call to see if the medication has done the job. They seem pretty good diagnosing. They are very friendly and they give me as much information as they can. They answer all of my questions and really seem to care. I would definately recommend them.

What an arrogant and uncompassionate bunch these people are. $400 just for testing and they told me to put my young dog down. Got two other vet offices to check him and found he was having digestion problems. He is fine and healthy.

I loved this vet untill my last visit. The vetrinarian was rude, pushed food on me. DIDNT even LOOK at the records. Did not draw blood or take stool samply but prescribed meds NOT RETURNING

Told me it would be 139$ to spay my cat. After signing a waiver claiming I'm on the hook for any unforeseen emergencies, I requested they at least call me if there is going to be extra costs. They of course didn't and charged me $179, saying she was 'mature'. Also tried to add on an additional $20 for pain meds. The total bill, 50% higher than agreed. Not a good experience.
